From Scream Factory's Facebook:

Quote:
Another title announcement tomorrow with two once again this time! Only hints: One is from the '85-90 and the other is from '90-'95. Both have never been on DVD before.

And next week, our Friday announcement will be a super-sized one with
films several to share BUT...it will happen at night and not in the AM like we normally have been doing. Reason is that we will be announcing them first in front of a crowd at the HorrorHound weekend in Indianapolis after 9PM ET at our first Scream Factory panel. We'll then rush to get the titles up here soon thereafter so all can enjoy!
I'm going for Curse 3 (Catacombs, which is technically a late 80s film - depends how literal the clue is) and 4 tomorrow. Ideally the titles won't be linked and we'll get something like Cellar Dwellar and The Vagrant.

Next Friday I think four will be announced: Carrie, The Fog, The Howling and The Burning (all Collector's Editions).

Fastway song "Get you after midnight" rocked!

Can't imagine there is a good print anywhere....
A "Trick or Treat" and "Rocktoberblood" dual release would be sweet

I'm with you on all three except Carrie - I think that one is too 'big time' for Scream to acquire, and it already has a R1 Blu-ray. Not that the latter is a guarantee for exclusion (see Halloween II), but in this case I think the combination of big name and previous release make it an unlikely possibility.

Up to last week I'd have agreed, but I thought it odd that they do a poll a few days ago asking 'What's your favourite Brian De Palma horror excluding Carrie?' It might not mean anything but I found it interesting.

a new encode for Carrie would be nice since the old one was MPEG-2 I believe. Esp if we got some new extras etc.

I agree. Especially with a Carrie remake coming out soon it would seem odd for the license handlers to sign it away to another company. I am optimistic we will see a new transfer/release of Carrie to coincide with the remake.

It would be nice to see them port over the DVD's extras too.

My guess is an Alchemist/Spellcaster double-feature disc.

I'd rather have Sisters or Body Double, or hell even The Fury

Really excited for next Friday's HH announcement. Come on Leviathan or Dolls!

  • Two Oscar Nominations: Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie
  • Remake to be released in March 2013
  • $33,800,000 domestic gross
  • Brian De Palma directing one of the films he's most known for
  • Pre-Saturday Night Fever John Travolta
  • Nancy Allen and P.J. Soles
  • Previous Blu-Ray release (2008)

Carrie would be a major coup for Scream Factory for the reasons above, but highly unlikely, IMO, for the very same reasons. If I'm not mistaken, Halloween II, with a $25,533,818 domestic gross theatrically, is the highest grossing film of any of the films announced for the Scream Factory lineup thus far by about $10 million and Carrie would top that by about $8.3 million.

I'd anticipate a special edition release for Carrie next year, especially since the original Blu-Ray had an older encode and almost no special features, but I think it'd be more likely to come from from MGM through their distribution deal with Fox than licensed away to Scream Factory.

I know this one is a stretch but I'd love to see a proper R1 release for "Hellbound: Hellraiser II" that ports over all the special edition extras from the DVD and upgraded A/V. I'd also love to see a R1 release of "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth", the unrated print with some special features.

The films come from two different studios I know, but a man can wish. A double feature packaging would be awesome for the two. I'm still content with Anchor Bay's original "Hellraiser" release, better than those "Midnight Madness" releases by a long shot.
