Scanners 2 was release in theatre here in the Province of Quebec and was a box-office success... But as you say I can't see them release as stand alone.

Does anyone think Scream will announce any titles previously unreleased on DVD next week? I can't see it, but I was wondering if Cliff might be able to tell us this in advance. Out of the MGM titles the only realistic one is probably Without Warning, but I don't think it really has that kind of popular following. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I think it will be 4-5 major titles previously released on DVD, perhaps even on Blu-ray.

They might, as I'm still hoping New Year's Evil gets a legit release (not counting the DVD-R). But yeah, I think the "big" titles will mostly consist of previously released movies (on DVD).

I can see mid to upper tier Friday Night, maybe they will reveal the box set they have..Imagine a Greydon Clark Box Set including Without Warning...I am sure whatever they announce Friday night will all be single releases.
I actually watched Scanners II last night and its not a bad film at all. In fact I am keeping my VHS of it until it comes onto DVD or Blu Ray. Well worth 1.99
Today Im watching the Horror Show as I did "A renting we will go.." and the first Scanners. The video store I go to is huge; it has over 50,000 titles on VHS, DVD and Blu Ray, but they did not have the Vargrant or Prison - Im not sure if the Vargrant is my cup of tea. Prison wasnt something Id buy on disc after I bought a cheap tape of it. Meh !

I didn't think I was going to buy the blu-ray of "Prison" at first, but I decided after seeing the releases of "Halloween II/III" and "The Funhouse" as well as "Terror Train", I would buy every blu-ray Scream Factory puts out. I just want to support them, because I know there are many titles I want on BD that really would only come from an indie company like Shout!

I won't be buying ANY dvds though, I can't justify dvd-only purchases in my mind. Its not that I'm a whiny baby, I just don't have the money to maintain 2 formats at once.

The last dvd I purchased in a year was the "Elvira 12-movie marathon" that just came out, because I doubt she'll ever make it to BD. She's getting old, and when she's gone I think the worlds just gonna forget about Elvira. But sign me up for any ELVIRA BLU-RAYs that Shout would releases!

"MS. 45"...

What the freak?!

Cliff said that the "big guys" at Shou! turned down "Ms. 45" when he presented it to them. He even was just a signature away from the deal being finalized! We have to change their mind somehow!

"Ms. 45" is a cult classic! What other movies has a deaf-and-mute woman that was raped going psycho on any man she sees?? Its like "I Spit on Your Grave" or "The Last House on the Left" on crack!!

And I second the blurays of Elvira, it sounds like a pretty good plan!!

I feel the same way. For my money, outside of The Criterion Collection, Shout/Scream is the best independent company releasing Blu Rays that match my particular interests. I will most likely pick up all of their Blu Ray releases just to support them in the hopes that they can release more obscure / cult films.

I dont have the money or the shelf space to buy titles to support a company..but i can buy DVD or Blu depending on how they are released. Every time SF announces a movie that I havent seen before I look to rent it first and now I can say Im getting Scanners II, Schizoid, Godsend & probably will get Xray. And the Nest ! That was a great bug film !
Plus Im getting Melting Man, Vampire Lovers, From Beyond. Death Valley I am going to do a blind trade in since I couldnt rent it and the VHS tapes cost too much. There are stores here that carry SF titles so I can bring some DVD or movies I dont want and get it for less than the SRP

According to DVDAf MGM have A Cold Night's Death, an excellent 1973 TV movie starring Eli Wallach and Robert Culp. I didn't realize this; it would have great if Scream could put this one out.

MGM apparently also have Dark Places from the same year. Would be another great title for the collection.

+1

I have the uncut French DVD and even saw a fine looking 35mm print of it in the spring. Great movie and I would buy a BD of it in a heartbeat!

I rented & watched the Horror Show today and very much enjoyed it but the ending confused me...maybe someone could answer my question..
When Jenke is fighting McCarthy at the power plant and Jenke gets electrocuted, they wind up back at McCarthys home ..how did that happen ? I didnt get the logic ...did I miss something ?

For the record, I didn't know anything. Its never been on dvd in the USA, and I'm dvd generation. I've never seen it, probably won't until I get the BD. But it wasn't a HUGE spoiler. Lol

Nah it really wasnt huge ! Only just that the location changed when they fought and Jenke was electrocuted. I dont see how this is much of a spoiler...I am from the VHS era so I have a VCR on my SD TV to rent a few tapes every now and then
I will say it has a lot of action and was a lot of fun. Best in the House series IMHO

I haven't seen it, but by the time I get, I'll probably forget about it anyway.

"Horror Show" has nothing to do with the "House" films. The only connection between the series is Sean Cunningham, who produced the films. Don't know why they decided to tack on the House title but there is no "House III". Best in the series is obviously the original, followed by the fourth entry.

The film was sold to non US markets as House III: The Horror Show. Virtually the same crew was on board for this film. You are correct that the events in this film have no bearing on the previous two or fourth installment in the series other than it being a haunted house film. When House IV hit DTV it was named as such because Horror Show already carried the House III title.

I thought the 3rd one was the best, so the first one isnt so "obvious"
I had the first 2 on DVD and well I got rid of it
