Probably internal politics about whether or not to include it in the Scream line or as a regular shout release.

Being new release, they could release it as Shout, like a regular movie, with the standard artwork, and some nice features, and sell it out to major retailers and rental places.

Or, they could go Scream, and rather than the standard modern feature release, maybe even do a Collectors Edition due to it's massive success, and already having a following (one only needs to watch the Christmas video or see the book funding).

So it's all down to decision making I believe, then said decision will be announced.

The Babadook being put out in the Scream Factory sub label would be nothing short of awesome, but a regular Shout Factory would be just as fine.

Hoping they port all of the Aussie blu-ray bonus features since I was thinking about importing that disc shortly before the SF release date was posted.

Some people may throw around phrases like "contrast boosting", "filtered" or "edge enhancement"- I'm one of those people who aren't incessantly looking for flaws every time I pop a movie in. I'm also not terribly bothered by things like edge halos, specks, that sort of thing so perhaps I'm biased. This BD is all there is so I'll take it, warts and all (not there are any)

BTW, there were no less than 4 logos on this film: StudioCanal, Paramount(!), Tri-Star and finally Carolco Pictures. Carolco was the financing studio if memory serves me, so that means the film is now stuck with Lionsgate. More the reason to grab this if you ask me

I don't think their silence on The Babadook is about whether or not it will fall under the Scream Factory imprint. Shout! Factory titles really aren't any more likely to be picked up by the brick and mortar retailers than titles that fall under the Scream Factory imprint. A number of the contemporary Scream Factory releases have been carried in-store by some of the bigger chains in the past.

If anything, I suspect their silence on the matter has more to do with them simply not yet being ready to make a formal announcement. It's happened in the past. Amazon had a listing for The Squad about a week or so before Scream Factory had formally announced it on Facebook.

April preorders are up at Blowitoutahere, including The Babadook. Looks like it wasn't an Amazon typo.

I'll probably pick it up. Heard so many great things about it. The fact that Shout is releasing it is a nice bonus. Not sure if I'll put it with the rest of my Scream titles since I don't have any of the modern ones they've released.

Sorry for the silly question but Scream Factory is basically Shout Factory right? Just their division/department that focuses on horror films?

Yes, Scream is part of the umbrella with Shout on top. Its kind of a sub-division. Timeless Media is also owned by Shout Factory which is why I feel some of Timeless Media's titles on DVD should be given consideration to blu ray. They already announced Reptilicus , why not license the Brain That Wouldn't Die, The Angry Red Planet.
One way for them to release more movies and stay afloat is to re-release titles that were on DVD on those 4 movie for you sets be it from Shout or Timeless Media. The Hercules movies from the 60s came from Timeless Media but MGM provided full frame masters, which is an automatic *No thanks* from me

Hey guys,

Does anyone know what the print runs were for the Escape from New York and Dog Soldiers posters, and how long they've been available for so far? I only just spotted a notice that they were taking pre-orders, and won't be able to make one until the first of the month, so am a bit worried they might run out. I emailed Shout about it, but [surprisingly] got brushed-off on the subject.

God, two of my all-time faves coming out at the same time. Talk about thrilled. Seriously, I'm doing the teenage girl "SQUEEEE!!!!" thing right now, complete with balled fists and dopey grin.

They used to say what the run was for other posters (I think it was around 200-300). They stopped doing that last year I think. Its hard to say how much they've sold. They may do it where they take however many preorders they get, then round it up to a nice number and print that many off.

I think you'd be fine. Come the first, they only would've been up for about a month. People might be holding off for more details.

I don't replace films with crappy covers, but I do to replace snapper cases I hate them. I was thinking of replacing my DVD of the Seven Faces of Dr. Lao with the MOD release just to replace the snapper case with the standard DVD case. But Id be replacing my DVD with an MOD DVDr. I did that for the Black Scorpion but that was more for having the film in the OAR

A little bit different of a situation, but I (unfortunately) didn't hear about their Shocktober deal until the third tier of releases. They were giving out a limited number of magnet sets and I still got one that late in the game. Something like a poster is cheaper for them to create, so my guess would be you'll be fine. Order sooner rather than later to be safe

Yeah, I got burned on that one. Didn't realize the magnets were limited, so when I finally went to place an order the website said they were all gone. Well, here's hoping the posters are still available in a couple of weeks!

They gave me the option, to redirect the delivery to my work address, since a signature is needed.

Awesome, that's an endorsement I'll listen to. I'll order it asap.

I really wish Warner would release Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, Them! & Valley of Gwangi on blu soon. Still waiting for When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth to be rereleased.
