They really did. Warner didn't have to supply the good print.

Believe it or not, Warner Brothers may actually have a valid copyright for the film. IIRC, there is a copyright notice for the film on the packaging.

I figured it was like Swamp Thing in that the package was mislabelled - I have it, and there's a great big "G" rating on the back!

So all they have to do is label it PG-13, release it, and call it a day. Geez.

This was a cool announcement, not amazing, but cool. I can update my VHS copy atleast . I went back over Scream's 2015 releases and after taking a second look, im not as disappointed as i was with the announcements. There have been some killer announcements like Class of '84 and Escape From New York and some cool ones like Ghoulies and Stigmata and all the comedy ones are alright...i just think after two years of pretty near every release being HOLY CRAP DAY 1 purchases, the majority of these releases are more like I'll wait til theyre on sale, which is fine, just not as exciting...I'm sure Scream has something up theyre sleeve and theyre still definately my favourite indie...can't wait to see whats next...LONG LIVE SCREAM!

Its all charity really. Warner every year gives a studio(s) a couple of titles. Criterion has some Warner titles but they are mainly pre-code if youre into that. I like some pre-code

Feels great to have something I want that nobody else in the world sells Screw Lionsgate.

I'm also not terribly bothered by things like edge halos, specks, that sort of thing so perhaps I'm biased. This BD is all there is so I'll take it, warts and all (not there are any)

BTW, there were no less than 4 logos on this film: StudioCanal, Paramount(!), Tri-Star and finally Carolco Pictures. Carolco was the financing studio if memory serves me, so that means the film is now stuck with Lionsgate. More the reason to grab this if you ask me
Boy, you weren't kidding about the speedy Amazon Japan delivery...I ordered late Thursday afternoon 1/15, and had my order on Monday 1/19...a holiday, to boot! My first order from them. DeepStar Six was my main reason, but picked up 7 other discs to help spread the shipping costs...in all, spent $167 total ($28.50 of that was shipping) for 8 discs...I was thrilled with that.

Now that I picked these up, I'm sure Scream/Shout and others will be releasing these to North America (I have the U.S. "L.A. Confidential" disc, but took the plunge on the Japanese disc based on reviews, and because the price finally dropped on it...can't say the same of the "Hannibal" disc yet).

Gave DeepStar Six a quick spin and it looks a lot better than my German Region 2 DVD (but still keeping that for the commentary/extras, and will use that art work in place of the Japanese sleeve).

(I also had to laugh about your studio logo observation on the disc...reminded me of Family Guy...)

Nice haul! I kind of like the Japanese characters on the BD cases. As long as the title is also shown in English I don't really mind Nice touch that you received your order on a holiday. I guess it's an added perk ordering from Amazon.jp since they ship via DHL and apparently they work on holidays. Take that, USPS!

Hopefully with all of these companies releasing MGM stuff, someone will release "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane". I love that movie.

Awesome news. I have the laserdisc and it's a shame they only released it in pan and scan.

Same here. I like the Japanese font, and love that they include, the english language title as well. I'm happy with my copy of Deepstar Six.

I'm tempted to order that blu of Orca, but can't bring myself to shell out the $32. Have you watched it yet? What's the picture quality like?

Thanks for all the input, guess the only thing to do concerning Hammer Horror films is to order the Shock box set from J.B. Hi-Fi and then order a Oppo region free player. It appears J.B. is having a sale on that set currently.

Really sad that the rights are so spread out in our region and nobody seems to want to get together on a ultimate box set here in North America. Luckily I have only purchased Dracula Prince of Darkness on Blu-ray from the now defunct region-free Hammer Collector's Edition so I won't be losing much by purchasing the box set, think I paid under $10 for it. I really didn't want to invest $600 on a BD player but if I am going region free Oppo is the best option and they stand behind their product.

Once again thanks to all who gave feed back and it is unfortunate that some of the 50's - 70's Hammer horror film rights are in so many hands to make a box set unlikely. If only Shock had gone region-free..sigh!

If you have a Panasonic, many, if not all, of the Studio Canal Hammer discs will play.
