Well, that explains that.

Kino announced today that they'll be releasing Deranged. I wonder if they'll port over Arrow's special features?

Checks off another Arrow title I can pick up without worrying if Scream will release it.

Kino is picking up where Scream left off. This is great news for those who wanted these titles that SF did not license - we have Kino, Olive and TT to thank

Seems Kino is getting the better horror titles this year Scream should have released. Some of Screams titles this year have me scratching my head.

Everyone is just picking what they think will sell and what fits in their budget - Whatever Scream didn't get , other studios are, so we are getting plenty of titles from everyone.

I'm guessing Kino's willingness to licence in considerable bulk (over 100 in the first batch, I think 80 in this, might be more) is giving them an advantage when it comes to picking up certain titles, but who knows? Up until now most of their horror announcements haven't struck me as titles Scream would have been all that interested in (with the possible exception of To All a Goodnight and The First Power), but Deranged is one I would have thought they'd have snapped up a long time ago. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, as dsman says. Just an observation really.

Yeah, I understand, I'm glad someone is getting the ones Scream missed. Kino is doing good work.

What are the odds of me getting The Howling with a slip from Amazon? I got The Fog with one last year, but maybe that one wasn't as big a seller and therefore had more left. I would eBay, but the prices are just through the freaking roof on there. Has anyone bought one recently and got it? Someone had gotten The Fog last year about a few weeks before me and that's how I judged it to take a risk.

It could go either way, I ordered The Howling, The Funhouse, The Burning, and Sleepaway Camp from Amazon in October and only the latter two came with slips.

I'm surprised the Invaders from Mars Blu-ray is missing the extras from the MGM DVD ("Original Publicity" featurette (8:05) and "Sci-Fi Promo" featurette (15:07)). They are usually pretty good about porting over all previous extras.

Kino has 120 in this batch (as reported in HTF) , and a lot of them first time to disc. I also did hear that Olive also has a deal with MGM for over 120 titles as well and that TT has a deal for around 100 MGM titles on top of that. Obviously studios aren't going to sublicense for only a dozen movies, this is big time MGM liquidation. Quantity might or might not be an advantage. Im still amazed at what Scream passed on for one reason or another. Im just glad all of the studios are releasing them, that's the most important thing. Im loyal to all the brands, and will gladly shell out for titles of interest.

So practically nil by this point. Thank you for the heads up. I found a slip for it on another site and I'll just have to buy the Blu from Amazon as no store near me carries it in stock. I imagine Barnes & Noble would, but we no longer have any near us. They both shut down. Oh well, the price would have been unbelievably high from them anyway.

Do we know for sure that Scream Factory actually passed on these titles and not that MGM already had these titles earmarked for their other licensees? I have a hard time believing that Scream Factory actually passed over something like Tales of Terror when they were planning to release their second Vincent Price boxset.

Wow, I didn't realize Olive and TT also have a ton of MGM titles between them in addition to Kino's 120 This means that most of my top wanted titles may see the light of day between the three. I don't have a long list but it's stuff that's probably long shots, like FLORIDA STRAITS, AFTER MIDNIGHT and RADIOACTIVE DREAMS. In any case, it's great that this stuff is finally being rescued.

Just read about WHISPER being delayed. I have a question for people that would probably know better than me.

I have it on preorder with a couple of other things being released that day on DEEP DISCOUNT. Do they hold the order until all items are available or do they stagger them?

I do know - its not every single title of course but then again some titles have reasons for not being acquired by Scream as well as other studios. There are many variables / reasons to titles being passed up on be it for projected poor sales, not enough dough in the budget, no HD master, etc etc etc . It was something that was very interesting to me as I learn things here and there. I try to share things if I can and still be vague at the same time
I know because my friends and people I know are reliable and Im envious of all the knowledge that they have. I want it lol
Tales of Terror is one of many titles not being licensed for one of those variable reasons. They very well could have had it when they were the only studio in town..but then again maybe not. There is a reason for everything. We can speculate forever but the end result is KINO has it , and no one else will for awhile
