If true that Scream Factory is releasing ~24 titles next year, that's about 500 dollars! My wallet!!

I absolutely think "Rolling Thunder" will be coming out via Shout Factory. They recently put Dolph Lundren's "Joshua Tree" up for pre-order which is another cult action favorite. In addition, (and I'm not even sure if you guys are aware of this yet), but apparently another Lundgren favorite, "Dark Angel", looks to be coming our way next year via Shout Factory. From what I read, it appears Shout will be putting it out on Blu-ray along with a commentary from Lundgren himself. This is just what I read from a resourceful source's website so until Shout Factory confirms this 100%, keep expectations at bay but it would certainly make sense with the MGM deal and all.

Hmm... 6 titles being announced this weekend. I'll take a stab and say...

- "The Fog"
- "The Howling"
- "Prince of Darkness"
- "Without Warning"
- "Prom Night"
- "The Burning"

Why does everyone keep saying "Prom Night", "Prince of Darkness", and also some say "Curtains"!?!

Much like rape... No means no!!

Believe me, I'm aware of how many times it's been stated but I can't help but feel like there's still as good a chance of them being announced as any other title especially after the history of "Halloween II" and "III". We were told time and time again that it wasn't coming but of course we all know how that ended Truthfully, I think if any Jamie Lee Curtis title is going to be announced (which I'm sure at the very least 1 of hers will make this announcement), it's going to be "The Fog" since it is a very obvious MGM title and Scream Factory has worked with Carpenter before on "They Live" so I'm sure they'll be able to whip up a wonderful Collector's Edition for it.

Yeah I think Cliff is a fan of Rolling Thunder, so that helps. I like the news about Dark Angel as well.

Here are my guesses for the "super six":

The Burning
The Fog
The Howling
Lifeforce
Pumpkinhead
...either Dolls or Night of the Comet

I'd love Night of the Comet. I never picked up the DVD, and would be thrilled with a decked-out Blu-ray release.

Here are my pre-hint picks:

The "Super Six":
  1. The Fog
  2. The Howling
  3. Pumpkinhead
  4. Lifeforce
  5. Night of the Comet
  6. The Burning

Alternates :
  1. Motel Hell
  2. Scarecrows
  3. Dolls
  4. Without Warning

I anticipate all six titles will be collector's editions loaded with special features. I don't anticipate any "New to Digital Video" releases in this batch.

I almost agree with this but I'll substitute Lifeforce for Carrie. Yes I know it's unlikely but that's my choice.

I'd love them to announce Without Warning or something else previously unreleased but I can't see how these would constitute 'big' announcements.

Be careful about guessing Carrie , apparently it is "nonsense" to some other user on here. I think the Blu Ray deserves an upgrade.

I just noticed that Ticks and The Nest are being released on the same date - they should make for a nice double-feature!

Don't you love when people who have just joined a forum start off by dismissing other people's comments? Not a good way to introduce yourself

Carrie is absolutely a possibility. THE FOG is considered a big title and it's widely thought to be a sure bet for release by Shout. Except Carrie could use a really good clean-up job. I'll only upgrade if it's a top-notch transfer, whoever ends up releasing it.

Demographics is probably the biggest factor. Gone with the Wind was rated by 120,000 users vs. The Dark Knight being rated by over 800,000, even though Gone with the Wind is probably the most popular film ever. (EDIT: Bear in mind that Dark Knight probably outsells Gone with the Wind by a fairly wide margin on DVD and Blu-Ray.) Simply put, most of the people that saw Gone with the Wind theatrically are either dead or have never touched a computer in their life. The older the average fanbase is, the lower the IMDB user number will be. Most of the Scream Factory films fall into roughly the same general era so comparisons should be more accurate, but I would caution against using this to compare relatively recent films (especially late 90's - present) with films that were released a relatively long time ago.
I agree with this assessment, i would say anything pre-internet boom. let's say '95 would have never been a new release on IMDB and therefore truly "catalog". New releases should always be judged vs themselves as the pre '95 films are generally fair to compare as far as interest goes.

As far as genre films go pre '95, the generation doing all the buying are ones going to these pages and think its a solid tool to use.

Yep I sure do love it. Dismissing it and calling it nonsense and using laugh smiles...oooh kaaaaaay

Ticks and the Nest I ordered from different places, Im going to watch them both the same day.

If Scream gets more Universal titles then I could see Prince of Darkness, The Thing , the remake of Village of the Damned, and Army of Darkness...

I concur with this sentiment...I know some of the cast love this movie to no end and I've read somewhere they are always up for doing anything related to the movie. So I'm sure, extras could be done relatively easily in the form of commentary, making of's, etc....

Yeah, that De Palma poll they had up would seem very out of place, unless they are planning on releasing one of his films as part of the big six. I'm hoping for Body Double but I bet The Fury or The Phantom of Paradise is more likely
