I can't see The Watcher getting a special edition any time soon. The movie wasn't very popular during its theatrical release and Keanu Reeves hates talking about it.

+1 I can't really see any widespread interest in it either, it's a passable thriller at best, it's already got an inexpensive release from Universal.... can't imagine a lot of people wanting a decked out SCREAM edition...

Any chance of the 1987 Aussie slasher Dangerous Game? Seems to have vanished entirely. I remember it being fun cheese, with future Aussie soap stars Marcus Graham and Sandie Lillingston in the cast too.

My top choice has got to be Tales From The Hood. Especially considering some of the horror anthology films they have and will be releasing, tales from the hood definitely fits the mold. And besides, I would just love to see a great making of documentary and commentary on it.

I think it's fairly safe to say the likes of Shocker, Serpent and the Rainbow, Demon Knight, Village of the Damned, Nightmares and Raising Cain would be among these, as well as maybe CE's of already-released titles like The Thing, Army of Darkness, The People Under the Stairs and Firestarter.

One thing's for sure - the line with Universal being open again should ensure the line is able to run for some time yet.
I would buy a good number of these. Let's hope for the best!

The laserdisc actually had a commentary by the director. For some reason, neither DVD release had this ported over.

Savoy titles with Universal:

A Bronx Tale
Shadowlands
Lightning Jack
Serial Mom
No Escape
Exit to Eden
The Walking Dead (war movie, not the AMC series)
Circle of Friends
Tales from the Hood
Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde
Last of the Dogmen (though Carolco produced this one, Savoy acquired all domestic rights while Carolco kept international)
Steal Big, Steal Little
Getting Away with Murder (released after 1995 but part of what Universal acquired)

I'm a fan of No Escape as well, also Steal Big, Steal Little. I have both on DVD and never thought they would make it to BD. That would be a nice surprise.

If Scream is dealing with Universal, I'm crossing my fingers for The Serpent and The Rainbow, The People Under the Stairs, The Legacy and A Kiss Before Dying.

As I said earlier, Universal has it now due to acquiring part of the Savoy library. Also, the DVD that's currently in print is from Universal.

yeah I scrolled back a few pages and found your explanation after posting. I deleted my comment as a result but you already replied. My mistake.

Any of you guys by any chance fans of the old HBO movies "Cast a Deadly Spell" with Fred Ward and "Witch Hunt" with Dennis Hopper? All this HBO talk reminded me of those two.

I love those two movies and would buy them up. I think I remember preferring Cast a Deadly Spell.

Instant buy for me as well. I think I like Cast a Deadly Spell better also, but Witch Hunt was bizarre and had so much dark humor. I loved Eric Bogosian's character in Witch Hunt.

Thumbs up from me, sir.

At first, I was questioning why more people weren't getting the reference, but than I realized that I'm just as much of a music nerd as I am a movie nerd (which is why my current place of employment works well for me. ).

Anyway, it's good to see that Scream has another deal with Universal going. I'll be getting The Sentinel day one...

The Canadian release uses a dated 1080i master and is super hard to find, though. The German Blu-ray (released last year) actually has a new 1080p master that's supposed to look really good. Maybe Scream can get access to this master.

There's an in-print version of Tales from the Hood?

It was part of the Universal Vault Series on Amazon but it looks like Universal pulled it. I thought it was still in print since those were DVD-R titles.

Good news on a possible Universal deal.

Now, what I really want to see is...

1. Psycho IV (feel free to combine it with Bates Motel or Psycho 1998 if you want or add in a dvd copy of the Psycho documentary)
2. Slither
3. The Thing
