From what is left in the thread, the last few pages show universal agreement that it's a downgrade, so you're probably right. Scream thread's on questionable transfers never have agreement

Ray_Rogers is pretty spot on with the exception that it was really one against many.

Yeah it's unfortunate more people don't want to be overly analytical about certain color, film grain, and more for releases. Especially to determine is this the way it originally looked without over tweaking for modern aesthetics instead?
There's still no universal over-all be all, end-all for certain titles. Many times I still need to make compilations of various releases anyway. Other times I already know which definitive version which has been released I want to buy, but wait on buying it when the price is right or get around to it.

I must've gotten the MAD MAX and Escape from New York threads mixed up there a bit. The former is as what you've mentioned and the EFNY there's still random bickering on both sides. So I'm just gonna say for me, f*** it, I'm buying whichever and grabbing multi-disc cases to make my own sets.

The problem with those two threads was it was a bunch of people being analytical about the discs based on screencaps and reviews and trying to determine what was the best transfer to buy, some other people overreacting to the analytical posts by going "omg this is the worst disc ever!!!" and then a few people very loudly making counterarguments based on nothing other than ad hominem attacks along the lines of "if you care which version you buy, you're a nitpicker who needs to get a life, I'm going to buy the scream version no matter what because I have better things to do with my time than try to figure out whether it's better than the cheap version :shrugs:" and just reposting variants of it nonstop which added literally nothing of value to the discussion of the content of the disc and caused escalating flamewars. Ah well. I'm more than happy with my EFNY disc, as it was the first I bought, doesn't seem to be inferior enough transfer-wise for me to notice and I wanted the extras. I think I probably will be with Mad Max as well, since I'm very interested in the new interview with Crazy Mel. Worst comes to worst, I'll buy the trilogy set sometime for cheap and get the fixed Road Warrior disc at the same time!

What people SHOULD be discussing is Reptilicus. Now there is a disc I'm looking forward to and can't possibly be worse than the existing releases, since there aren't any

If you do get the Trilogy boxset, go for the USA release since I looked on DVDCompare it's the MGM disc where other countries it only has the original Australian in DD 5.1 while the only lossless is the U.S. dub. According to the same site, Shout has the Australian DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo, which I highly prefer, and not a 5.1 remix or the U.S. dub. I have to check and see if I already have the MGM disc around. If I do, far easier for me to make a custom set.
For MAD MAX 2: The Road Warrior, the 2013 release is great. Wish it had more features instead of a boring introduction by the annoying Leonard Maltin and is of course offered in the Trilogy. MAD MAX: Beyond Thunderdome I wish had features too but still a good release.

For Reptilicus. Should both the U.S. cut and the Danish cut be available then on the Blu-ray?

Only that the SF release is not a downgrade (to myself and others) and why is this debate being moved to this thread now - can we just move on ?

Whats the deal with this us vs them - disagree and move on for heaven's sake !
This is the scorecard -
Fans of Scream Factory releases are labeled as "fanboys", they support the brand and are happy. Ray Rogers needs to stop calling them fanboys before they start singling him out again for one thing

Non fans of Scream Factory releases have been labeled as "nit picky, trolls and haters" - some just dont like the brand simply because they don't. If you don't like their release do we really need 100 posts from the same person stating it. I cant understand the nonsense of it all, live and let live. Is it really all that important ? No, its not. We are all collectors and fortunate enough to have this luxury.

Moving on now .. next topic please !

Class of 1984 - worth a blind buy ?

It would be nice, but I kind of doubt it will be. The Danish versions I've seen look terrible! I don't think it's ever made it to any US release so I won't be disappointed if it doesn't make it to this release either.

I'm not a SF hateer or something but after so many failures they should have improved their releases. Look at Arrow, what they used to be and what they are now. I love horror genre and would like to have as many labels releasing horror movies in HD as possible but I can't support lacklustre releases like some Scream have been offering. They should accept all the critisism they are getting instead of posting that they are shocked by the negative comments of the customers who have all the rights to complain when they spend money and get subpar product.

I love how you tell people to stop reiterating the debate and to "move on - for heaven's sake" three times, and then you go right into a long-winded tirade to stir up the debate again. Bravo!

I don't even care if I called them fanboys and I was making a general observation.
For certain releases I already know which one I want and for both EFNY and MAD MAX I stated to cakefactory what I'm already going to do. But one advantage I have is since I watch my Blu-ray/DVD collection on my computer, with AnyDVD HD, I'm fully multi-region capable. But if you can't understand I have way more options to choose from and even wanting to just buy any release I want, along with a combination of them, then that's your issue and not mine.
I'd give Class of 1984 a rent first.

I found out about the different cuts from DVDCompare.net and to be honest I'm not even sure if I've even seen the film.

You opened that door and just because you mention "moving on now ... next topic please" doesn't mean people will stop discussing their opinion. Now, I think you can stop beating those horses as they're long since dead.

In my opinion the MGM release is fine although it could have had more extras.

... next topic please!

Yeah but its already been discussed ad nauseum. And by the SAME people.. If they want to keep going, then they should just go back to the EFNY thread and continue the drama there, thanks

And just for you

I've got Mad Max in the trilogy set and EFNY, adding my 2disc dvd to it.
Looking at what scream are releasing for each of these, I see no need whatsoever to buy them again. It's pretty much $18 (plus UK shipping) for nice artwork. Easy pass.

If anyone dosent own these, they're both worth owning and have high rewatch value. But if you can pick up the previous releases together for the cost of one SF release, do that.

Class of 1999. Agree to rent first, I blind bought the DVD a couple of yrs ago. Bit dull and boring, not much action. Looked great going by cover, story on the 'back of box' etc, but it for me was a let down. Was hoping somewhere between The Principal (Belushi) and Class of 1999, got something completely meh.
