I don't understand why Lionsgate sits on their catalog when they can just license it out and make easy money. Generating some money is better than no money.

Careful now... that sounds like common sense, and we all know Lionsgate want's nothing to do with any of that.

They've licensed The Resurrected out to a German company that's releasing a big, special edition blu-ray this summer, so maybe they're getting a little more open-minded. Hopefully?

Do Lionsgate have the German rights to The Resurrected? I just assumed it was licensed from somebody else, possibly even MGM.

Not sure about The Resurrected but there have been a few titles released in Europe that Lionsgate controls the US rights to, which lead me to assume that the studio was beginning to loosen its grip on their catalog, but they turned out to be licensed from other companies for the overseas market. I remember Lionsgate saying they would open their vaults and release more catalog titles back when they released THE MONSTER SQUAD to great fanfare. Their Evil Dead 2 BD is fantastic but that's about as deep a catalog title as they got, not counting the horror multipack DVD from a couple of years ago. It just baffles me how they won't even consider licensing out. It's a studio run by investment bankers so that should say something.

There's always a debate on SF blu releases. I'm no expert, but I watched Ivaders from Mars this afternoon and for me the PQ and audio (chose 2.0) were great. The spaceship inside with Krang from TMNT around the 40 minute mark. It looked brilliant to me, really brought me back to feeling like the kid that rented this in the early 90s.

Great fun horror flick. I'm quick to slate and quick to praise. Im sure they'll be those who think this isn't great but I'm firmly in the camp on this.

**SURPRISE TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT!**
We are pleased to officially share that we will be bringing the 1979 supernatural thriller THE LEGACY to Blu-ray for the first time!
Planned release is for August. This unique Omen-esque offering is helmed by Director Richard Marquand (Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Jagged Edge) and stars Katharine Ross (The Stepford Wives, The Graduate), Sam Elliott (Hulk, Frogs, Tombstone)and rock superstar Roger Daltrey (Tommy). It also features many disturbing death sequences (**SPOILERS** For those who know the film, the pool and the chicken bone scenes are the stuff of nightmares right?).
No details to announce about upcoming extras. Pre-order links are expected to go up next month.
We have more new title reveals planned throughout the Spring and Summer so stay tuned!

The Legacy is a solid flick. I'm ordering the Japanese disc since it's from Paramount and I'm normally very pleased with their transfers. Universal holds the rights in the US and I'm always worried about the digital tampering. Not every Universal transfer is bad but more times than not, I'm disappointed.

Has anyone got their hands on the Carrie double feature yet?
How are the transfers?

I sure as hell hope so. The Legacy has a few good kills, but other than that it's incredibly boring. The definition of a movie you only need to see once. It seems to me like Universal is letting Scream Factory pick through the dumpster out in the back alley.

This (and The Kidnapping of the President) used to be on TV-55 (Long Island) every month when I was a teen. I've grown to love this movie despite its slow spots and really odd choice of "romantic disco chase" music during the mid-movie escape attempt.

Needless to say, Day 1 For Me!

Oh excellent! The Legacy haunted me for years after I saw it as a kid and it took me decades to find out what it was! Really creepy.
Sign me up for this one.

I'd rather have an under-appreciated mediocre film than something that has been released countless times over the years.

My copy of Ghoulies/Ghoulies II Shipped today! I gotta say, I'm really really impressed with Sears. Besides their website being a disaster, they shipped my orders separately so that I wouldn't have to wait for the pre-order item to come in, the movies arrived in arguably the best condition of any movie I've ever purchased anywhere, AND they shipped my pre-order ahead of it's street date so that it arrives on the street date. something that even Amazon won't do unless you're a prime customer. Add in the fact that I got this and Pumpkinhead for $5 off each title and only .99 shipping and I just may look to order more from Sears in the future.

So I just finished watching "Terror in the Aisles" for the first time a short bit ago (What a fantastic film/documentary!) and I had no idea a remake for Invasion of the Body Snatchers existed. This looks like such a prime choice candidate for a Scream Factory Collectors Edition that I'm amazed it hasn't already been released/announced. Just when i thought MGM's library had more or less run dry, this one is still sitting there. The MGM Blu Ray is from 2010, so I'd imagine enough time has passed for this to warrant the double dip treatment, but perhaps this is one MGM doesn't want to loan out? Either way, It's looking like I'm going to have to track down that MGM release for now.

Um, there have been 3 remakes (or re-imaginings, if you will). The '78 one (the best of the remakes), the Abel Ferrara "Body Snatchers" with Meg Tilly, and then, "The Invasion" with Nicole Kidman. I can see maybe not knowing about the last two, but Kaufman's is really well thought of and pretty well known.
