Never said they were. Just said that TGG has no bearing on the situation. Olive, Twilight Time, and/or Kino are the likely culprits.

I'm still immersing myself in the Blu-ray extras for From a Whisper to a Scream. Tonight, I watched the nearly two-hour documentary, Return to Oldfield: The Making of From a Whisper to a Scream, and I'm now watching the commentary with writer/director Jeff Burr. I'm saving the documentary, A Decade Under the Innocence, and the second commentary until tomorrow.

This disc is a class act all around. The making-of doc is just as engaging as the movie itself, especially for the discussions of how Vincent Price came to star in the film.

Just watched Lifeforce. Loved the animatronics....although I kept expecting them to yell 'Brains! Brains! Brains!'.

And that chick easily has the best rack in cinema history.

Never said you said they were , to clarify TGG licensed some titles under certain conditions according to what I heard. There are at least 300+ MGM titles licensed among all the labels dealing with MGM. We have already seen a bunch announced

Piece of advice. Any insider info without a source, withholding source, or being an insider without notifying people, isn't generally well received. It frustrates people being corrected and told things without the source being explicit, and people have gotten trouble in here before.

Thats why Im careful. I never tell who has what title. Maybe it just isnt well received by you lol
My sources are reliable. Keep calm and wait for announcements
Its actually safer to say who does not have something over who has. Shooting down titles is always safe. I do recall someone getting into trouble on here and on Facebook for spilling the beans much too soon about some titles. I actually contacted an admin here to remove the thread that was started because it wasnt official.

Oh, just ignore that person above "DS" what a fuddy duddy (respectfully said). Im sure some members do appreciate what you can share , I know I do and follow your posts. I know that you cannot reveal sources or what movie label has what title and respect that. So, thank you for whatever you can safely share. It must be hard to hold in what you might know !
I saw nothing wrong with your comment : *There are at least 300+ movies MGM has sublicensed* because it is obviously true, an insider would not need to say that. Ive probably purchased over 100 already MGM blu rays already. I do read comments at Home Theater Forum as well and the Kino Lorber insider over there mentioned a deal with over 100 titles. And then Olive, Twilight Time and Shout Factory have their deals
I also like to wonder and guess who has what. Im sure many of us are wondering about a third Vincent Price set from Shout Factory. I certainly feel that it is possible, and if it should happen it could be a mere 4-5 titles.

too bad the movie isn't. I was always shocked that Price would appear in such a vile piece of trash... it just doesn't suit him. While I have enjoyed films far more crude than From A Whisper To A Scream, I just didn't appreciate this one... and seeing Price appear in it was a sour note to me...

Didn't realise you had to tell people if you were an insider. Is that just when you give a piece of info, or when you make your first post. Like introducing yourself at an AA meeting? 😝

I have read somewhere that Price did NOT like doing this film because of all the gore. He might be a master of horror but he's pure old school - how many horror films was he in that had excessive gore in them ? Just this one I believe. Dr Phibes and Theater of Blood arent all that grisly either when they could have been.

Thats why I love his films.. its his acting, the atmosphere, the settings itself have horror elements - his films (along with Karloff and Lugosi films) are proof that you dont need gore to have a great horror film.

Of course I do enjoy a bloody good movie as well. From Pit and the Pendulum to Zombi , Im there

I don't see them doing AWIL. The current Blu is pretty damn good already. Same with Cape Fear, The Frighteners and The Thing.

So in this case a hypothetical third SF box *could* consist of 5 MGM titles:

Master of the World
Tower of London
Diary of a Madman
The Oblong Box
Cry of the Banshee

Plus An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe. The addition of a PD title (The Bat) or even a Universal one (The Invisible Man Returns) could bulk it up a bit, though we haven't yet seen a mix of MGM and Universal titles in one release, and Universal may be reticent about licencing their Monster properties

I'm pretty sure that many aspects of From a Whisper to a Scream would have repulsed me had I seen the film back in the late 1980s. Right now, in 2015, the movie still packs a visceral punch when seeing it for the first time, but I was so impressed by the sheer level of improvised creativity that went into the final result that I was not bothered by the subject matter.

I'm of the opinion that Witchfinder General, which also starred Vincent Price, is a far more disturbing film in terms of outright sadism and violence than From a Whisper to a Scream is, although that 1968 film is not as outright gory. I enjoy both films for different reasons, though.

From a Whisper to a Scream is somewhat reminiscent of the old EC Comics stories, so the visceral subject matter is handled with an offbeat touch of levity.

He didn't object to the gore; he objected to his story being rewritten after he agreed to do the film, so they promptly changed it back to what it was originally. Price himself is the one who came up with
[Show spoiler]his character being stabbed in the neck
and was none too happy when the gallon of blood they were using for the effect only came out as a dribble. He talks about how much he enjoyed working on the film in the Fangoria issue with From Beyond on the cover.

I know this isn't the place, but can someone point me in the direction to a list of all of the Vincent Price titles (available and upcoming) that are released on Blu-ray in the US? Even ones that are not released by Scream Factory.

If there is a list, I mean. I'm trying to see how many I need.

I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Here. You can search for an actor or actress' Blu-ray filmography by entering their name into the 'Cast & crew' search box at the top of any site page.

Twilight Time's "Leave Her to Heaven" just sold out, better buy it quick before it skyrockets in price!

you have of course picked the best example of another "different" genre flick that Price agreed to be in and I agree... I think I would have appreciated From A Whisper To A Scream better if Price was not in the film. Since he was, I had a different expectation from the film. It is by far his bloodiest film, and the subject matter was truly depraved throughout most of it's running time.
