Yes one of my favorite horror movies (Army of Darkness) is being released by Shout. The Universal release was pretty disappointing.

so was every other prior release... the final battle sequence at the castle has always been marred by horrific video noise (yes, noise.. not grain...) and I'm hoping for that to be corrected this time...

Completely off topic here, but who owns the US rights to the Basket Case trilogy? I know Something Weird Video released the first film in a sub-par release, but parts 2 & 3 have never had North American Blu Ray's yet and these just Scream Scream Factory to me. I already have the Wonderful UK Steelbook trilogy set, so I can't imagine a much better release, however as their are some that won't import for any reason, this seems like a good franchise for the Scream Factory Line-up.

Also... still hoping/waiting for that Slumber Party Massacre II/III release as well as what is probably my Holy Grail Blu Ray at the moment in Sorority House Massacre II.

Nope me neither, I've always wanted the UK Creepshow disc so I finally caved and bought a region free player. I'm sure I will find many more overseas blue to buy.

While i like AoD and will certainly buy it the movie has always left me disapointed as an Evil Dead movie. I waited years for Evil Dead 3 and i AoD was not what i wanted. The 3 stooges stuff has got tiresome after multiple viewings. Still a decent movie though.

I sold my Demon Knight DVD to my cousin back when the BD/HD DVD wars were going on, not expecting it to take this long for someone to release it on Blu ray...after sampling it on HBO GO last month (it looked great in HD...not sure if this is the version we're getting from SF), I can't wait to revisit it in its entirety!!

Let's just say that all of Henenlotter's stuff except BC and Bad Biology is with Synapse. A few years back, an off-hand remark was made by Don about maybe upgrading 2&3 to BD as a double. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

I still prefer Alien, but Aliens is a close second.

Evil Dead is Anchor Bay, so no. Certainly not Evil Dead 2, which is Lionsgate.

Isn't the first Evil Dead movie's release actually good? Don't see the point there. With Army of Darkness it makes sense since the US release didn't even have the director's cut, which seemed to be most people's preferred version on the DVD.

The first edition of Evil Dead has an extra disc with quite a few special features.

Wasn't that disc ported over from the previous DVD release? I ended up purchasing the edition without the DVD as I wasn't even aware of the change at the time. I've never been a big enough fan of the Evil Dead franchise to go back and double dip either, so it's unlikely I'll ever have a feature rich edition of the original.

Yes, but those extras were already extensive and all-encompassing so there's really no need for someone to go make new ones. I mean, how many times can you go back to the same people and ask them to tell the same stories over and over again? Unless someone makes a 4-hour documentary about Evil Dead like Crystal Lake Memories, extras for the original Evil Dead have pretty much already been DONE, ad nauseum.

Oh I agree, I was merely asking the question if that's where they came from. Evil Dead releases have been done to death for sure. For me, the only unfortunate bit of all these already completed extras is that they are all in Standard Definition. You do bring up a good point though about a 3rd party Doc. It's actually surprising that one hasn't been completed thus far given how well received the Nightmare and Friday doc's were.
