Odd that they argue for Jaws 2. They claim that people only hate it "on principle," but I saw it again recently and it's boring as sin.
Agree totally. Saw a theatrical double feature of Jaws 1&2 (both on 35 mm) today as part of a Roy Scheider retrospective. Good news: Jaws is still Jaws. Bad news: Jaws 2 sucks worse than I remember, and I have always hated it. The big screen made it worse. It plays like a two part episode of Jaws: The Series edited together. It feels like a TV movie through and through. The first act is pretty good, but the rest of the movie drags on at a snail's pace. And the acting, aside from Scheider, is horrible.

I read somewhere that Spielberg wanted to make a prequel based on Quint's World War II speech but the studio flarly turned him down. Shame. He could have made the only Jaws follow-up to be worth a crap.
Well, Joe Dante could have made a good Jaws sequel. He was signed on to direct John Hughes' script of Jaws 3, People 0, which is apparently superb.

If they wanted another sequel, I would totally believe Chris Pratt to be Hooper's son. Likeable, but smarmy. Similar look.

Scream Factory also shot down Halloween III and Night of the Demons immediately before releasing them (I believe the Tales From the Crypt movies were also given a thumbs down)...

Plausible in demand titles from studios with known SF contracts like Tales From the Hood (and Psycho IV) will be released if not now then soon. Examples like those above show it's silly to think favorites from Universal, MGM, etc will not be incoming ("worse case" someone else releases them).

Also I think title hints, in addition to the obvious Godzilla ones, might be uncovered from looking more closely at SF's acquisition of Westchester Films (which was mainly focused on streaming but may be more far reaching).

Edit: Clarified Halloween III, not II.

I always thought TJ Thyne from bones could be Hooper if there was a remake or some relative of his in a sequel.

And no I don't think they should remake. It was just a thought years ago when I was watching season 1's eighteenth episode of Bones when he had to go under water for a treasure. He had the whole Hooper look to him when he was in a diving suite beard & all.

Scream Factory shot down Halloween II even though it was the first title released under the Scream Factory name?

Edit: Maybe I'm mistaken but here is one reference to a claim that Scream Factory misrepresented their plans for Halloween III -

Also here's Scream Factory denying Night of the Demons a few weeks but it got released:

I think you may be misremembering that joke and it having any relationship to Clownhouse.

As it stands Clownhouse isnt likely. Tales from the Hood has been shot down twice within the last month, it just isnt happening this time around. There might be more than meets the eye behind the scenes with this title.

Lady in White I have not seen, so I cant compare it to Firestarter. If they have Lady in White, that could be one of those something for everyone titles . Does it have more horror elements than Firestarter ?
Id like to see Lady in White, Nightmares and the Guardian since I see a lot of hooplah for them

Clownhouse can never come out for all I care. It's hard to image anyone being entertained by a film where the child actors could've been abused every time the director called cut for all anyone knows. Just doesn't sound like a fun popcorn movie whatsoever. (I know a lot of people stopped watching Polanski movies because of what happened with him, but I didn't. To me, this situation is particularly disturbing because of the fact that it was done on-set, with the children that appear in the film... just my two cents).

As for the requests for Killer Klowns from Outer Space, I hope Scream Factory stays far away from that one too. The Fox release is fantastic and there's no need to pay upwards of $25 an already excellent blu-ray edition can be found in the $5 Walmart bin.

I remember this being mentioned in the Code Red thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=3624

The owner doesn't want to release it until a remake is made.

They shot down Demon Night around 2 weeks before it was announced.

Any horror title that comes from Universal or MGM is not only possible, it's likely.

John Hughes was signed on to direct Jaws 3? I would've loved to have seen that film. Premise: A "school" of sharks swim around in teenage angst munching on beachgoers while they wait for their next hot date. Molly Ringwald voices all the sharks' thoughts Probably would've been a better film that what was ultimately released! And BTW, Jaws 2 is better than 3 or 4 combined. Still, I'd rather Shout not waste time with these - there are much better films to go after . Universal should release these themselves in a triple pack.

They shot down Tales from the Hood after the Universal titles were getting announced. Thats what Im saying. If they said they didnt have it twice after they made the deal with them, then that means, they dont have it. There is something deeper about it being just *A Universal title*

Not every Universal title is possible or likely. The Jaws sequels arent, since Universal is holding on to them. Im sure Shout has looked at all avenues for titles from MGM and Universal. Whatever Shout doesnt get, Kino and others can swoop in The Universal Kaiju films arent likely either

Scream Factory We do not have this one <------------------------in reference to Tales from the Hood

I knew someone was going to say this. But it's a different stand-up from CO by the name of Charley McMullen. He said it on an episode of Geek Juice Radio.

Columnist Russell Smith wrote a nice editorial in the Globe and Mail about that kind of thinking.

"But a new radicalism seems to have taken hold of the young on this issue. There is now a sense that to digest a piece of art made by a bad person is to digest his badness, to become contaminated by it..."

Forunately, this is not a radicalism that afflicts me. I've watched movies made by child molesters, Nazis, communists, racists, liars, thieves and probably worse. I have not digested their "badness".

I don't need protection from the art of bad people.

Jaws 3D is a million times more watchable than 2 is.

I think we can rule out Village of the Damned '95 and Tales from the Hood as possible titles to be announced at SDCC. The hint they gave specifically says early '90s--and 1995 doesn't really fit that description. I mean, if they had a title from '95, wouldn't they have just said mid-'90s?

Yes, but it wouldnt surprise me if they announced Village on their Facebook page. I get the feeling this will they might announce some stuff before SDCC.

One other thing, is that rights to titles do expire and Im sure Shout has their eyes on titles that expire so they can swoop in one day and surprise all us I say this after the latest MST3K announcement a couple of months ago. Eventually rights to expire thankfully
