Perhaps, they were testing the waters with those two titles, and since sales weren't of satisfactory results, they decided to take the easy route and simply lease them to whatever label?

My hope is that MGM will completely abandon the idea of releasing films like Texas Chainsaw 2 and even Death Wish themselves and license them out to other labels - people who will do a much better job with them because they know and love the films and want to see them treated properly. It really is a marriage made in Heaven: Cliff and co. are big fans of the movies, and, as long as we continue supporting them, they'll continue to bring us high-quality products that we can all cherish and enjoy for many years. Shout would've done a killer job with Tx Chainsaw 2, starting with the use of the famous "family portrait" artwork from the VHS release along with an awesome alternate design of their own. I can't wait to see what they're going to do with NIGHT OF THE COMET. Can we send you money now, Cliff?

I can't imagine Shout doing any further remastering on the transfer, and the MGM disc is a stacked SE that was recently selling for $4.99, which is about $10 cheaper than any Shout disc would ever be. I appreciate the work Scream are doing, but there should be a balance between studio catalog titles, which are usually eventually available for $7.99 and under, and the pricier (but worth it) custom concoctions of Scream and the other boutique labels.

Many (most?) would call that 'deadly dull padding' 'effective atmospheric elements'. The style and mood of the film is superb, it's the story end that is rather weak and underdeveloped. Luckily, the solid performances make up for the script's shortcomings. The Ward is anonymously helmed and completely forgettable straight-to-video filler. I'd label Ghosts of Mars as Carpenter's low point - its absolutely embarrassing, and has aged worse than any of his other films.

MGM's Texas Chainsaw DVD (and Blu) left a lot to be desired in the PQ dept. Extras were plentiful and interesting but I'm sure the transfer could've been better. I don't know about anyone else but the most important aspect of Shout's MGM acquisitions is the quality of the transfers. All the extras and awesome artwork in the world won't mean a thing if the transfers are not what they should be.

I was somewhat disappointed in the transfer as well, but I doubt if Shout would have had the resources to create a new HD transfer themselves.

I didn't like Day of the Dead at all. It might just be that Dawn of the Dead was amazing in comparison, but I hated it. It's setting was strange, and I didn't even finish it. I'll buy it on Blu-Ray anyway to support Scream Factory and to complete my 'of the dead' BDs, I just hope I like it on its 2nd chance.
Part of the problem might have been watching Dawn and Day back to back. Personally, I don't think any of Romero's "...of the (Living) Dead" films work all that well with one another as part of a double feature. With the exception of taking place in a post-zombie apocalypse world, Dawn and Day are very dissimilar.

There is very little similar about Romero's dead films other than zombies and people struggling to survive.

But I'm thrilled to see LIFEFORCE on BD. I skipped the awful DVD. I'm stoked about finally getting this on home video.
I am with you. I don't like The Fog that much either, I mean it is ok but I would agree that it is a little slow and definitely not scary...while the score and the cinematography are fabolous however(maybe some of carpentars best). Overall I just didn't really like the story that much. I can see though why people love it even if it is far from my favorite carpentar.
Lifeforce I really love too! Just a cool fun movie in the Body Snatcher vein.
EDIT: Would agree with NoirFan on it having great style, mood, and atsomophere though. I guess I am not the only one who thinks it is the story that hinders the film a tad.

I have been given an okay to go ahead and say what these titles are but I'm going to hold off until my interview goes live because some of the titles are mentioned in there... Let's just say that Cliff wasn't kidding about fans finding second jobs because 2013 is going to be one hell of a year!

Here's a shot of me and Nathan Thomas Milliner, Scream Factory artist for such titles as "Halloween II, "III", "Terror Train", "They Live" and "The Funhouse". Nathan was a great guy and extremely talented as we all have seen. He's already been assigned some great new covers for the Scream Factory line that I'm sure he's going to knock out of the park.

I'm sure it's been mentioned already, but where will we be able to find this interview when it goes up?

I did it exclusively for the AV Maniacs forum that I belong to. I appreciate all the interest in the interview, I just hope that people don't feel like I am trying to plug myself in some hyped up way. I conducted this interview for my own interest because I have such a passion and love for what Scream Factory are doing and it was done simply for pleasure. I hope you guys all enjoy it!

Just using Halloween II as a comparison here, SF version should blow the hell outta what AB put out. I'm excited!!!
I almost bought the UK Fog blu-ray, but just went with the DVD for Halloween viewing. So I guess it evens out a bit in terms of double dipping. I'll still probably wait a while on that one though - it's not one of my favorites. I've just been really impressed with the releases as a whole so far, and I'm sure I'll be grabbing a few here and there.

I did read your post before the "last edit at 2:11"
who cares really..It isnt that important
Maybe it was just generally speaking, Im not into people dissing others for movies they like
People + dissing = Pissing :P LOL
