I think that's the exact same reason why "Scream Factory" didn't pick up the final "Psycho" film, because the previous sales numbers said it wasn't going to be a good investment.

I think some people are asking for these sequels based on sentimentality or fond memories of seeing them at a young age. Here's a great example: they just announced "Demon Knight" and "Bordello of Blood." Sure, "Demon Knight" is a GREAT horror film and will do good numbers for "Scream Factory." Until recently, I had good memories, or I thought I did of "Bordello of Blood." Then I saw a new HD broadcast of it on one of the movie channels like two or three months ago and it failed to impress, way inferior to "Demon Knight" which is awesome and it reminded me how I once asked for them to release this movie on blu-ray and then recently saw it and came the revelation that I probably wouldn't even buy it, pending bonus materials. But, "Scream Factory" is smart enough that they know if they're getting "Demon Knight", might as well pick up "Bordello of Blood" too, so they don't have to hear the backlash from it's fans and "Scream Factory" knows most likely if someone is going to buy "Demon Knight" they're probably going to get "Bordello of Blood" too just for the hell of it, why not. It's what I'm going to do.

In the case of "Jaws", they don't have the original to release to justify the sequels to piggy back off the original in a way people would like I said people will do with "Bordello of Blood", are you following me here?

Not to mention as we found out, Universal, when it comes to their "beloved" franchises they don't like people creating alternate artwork ("Psycho II" & "Psycho III") for the release and seem pretty protective of them. Also, the original "Psycho" is more associated with Alfred Hitchcock and is released in box sets associated with Hitch.

The "Jaws" sequels on the other hand, Universal has not made up their mind on. It's clear that Universal or Spielberg himself has asked them to distance the original from the sequels, ala no complete box set with all the films. It's just speculation, but this is a business first and foremost for both Universal and "Shout! Factory" and I think the sales numbers for the "Jaws" sequels don't justify the labor, work and money that goes into releasing these films on any home video format. I'm sure Universal already has half a warehouse full of unsold "Jaws" sequels, unless they destroyed them.

Just get the DVDs guys, and if they ever do come out on blu-ray, thank whatever God you worship.
Actually Scream Factory has tried to get the Jaws Sequels and were denied by Universal. But nice try.

If I had to choose one film from a list of likeliest candidates I would pick GHOST STORY. Out of all the predictions I believe GS has the highest probability of being announced on Friday. The film was also recently released in Germany so that adds to the likelihood. You guys can have your Godzillas, Vincent Price and Larry Fessendens - give me Ghost Story and I'll be very happy

Does it even matter why people want certain movies? People want what they want, and that's it...

Honestly, if there was ever a film that could probably do well with a modern remake it's this one. I'd love a full featured Blu Ray of this film and think it'd fit the Scream Lineup great.
Have you seen the director's cut? Two and a half hours of pure torture.

Mako: The Jaws of Death (Collector's Edition)

Monster Shark (Devilfish) (Collector's Edition)
Tintorera: Killer Shark (Collector's Edition)
Orca (Collector's Edition)
Swap Jaws for Barracuda and I'd be surprisingly happy with that.

Anyway here's my updated picks for SDCC:

Sssssss
The Car
Ghost Story
The Thing
Nightmares
The Guardian
Lady in White
Raising Cain
The Curse
Curse II: The Bite

So 7 Universal titles, 3 MGM. A hint given by Mister Lime over on the Kino thread leads me to suspect Lady in White is most likely with Scream. He said that LiW and Eight Men Out were with two other, separate labels. I'm thinking Twilight Time for the latter and so probably Shout for the former (though I recognize that Olive is also a possibility).

Heck yeah, I have some those Casanegra titles, well if Scream needs more horror titles they could explore that avenue , the only problems are
they are black and white
they are not gory
they are not 80s cheese
they might not be big sellers
they could be made into double features

Other than that, theyre okay !!

Hopefully Scream Factory can break the mold and diversify their contracts; their reliance on mostly Universal or MGM titles feels limited and it's a bit odd when people can predict upcoming releases by 'whatever Universal titles haven't been released yet.' I'm hopeful for more diverse and indie horror stuff like Dead Shadows, The Battery, Audition, House on Sorority Row, or Kingdom of the Spiders (all films Shout previously licensed).

None of these are of particular interest to me. I do like RAISING CAIN and a few others, but not enough to get excited about a SCREAM RELEASE.

I'd be all for Shock Treatment, Dead Alive, Death Becomes Her, and Village of the Damned. I haven't seen the rest, but I believe that they are damn likely.

A small part of me wonders if we won't get a Slumber Party Massacre 2/3 double feature announcement. The timing feels right and they're a different kind of horror than many of the speculated titles. They've gone away from the corman stuff but I'd still like to see Sorority House Massacre II make it to Blu. That's right up there as one of my most wanted titles.

If Shout somehow licensed Peter Jackson's Dead Alive, it stands to reason they also licensed BAD TASTE. Jackson is presumably restoring his early films so a package deal makes sense.

If we got a Shock Treatment release, I'd be on cloud nine. It would easily be my favorite release next to Phantom of the Paradise.

The early Peter Jackson films would be epic; but Jackson is seemingly someone who could "do better" than licensing away his films.

He seems to be personally involved in the restorative work so I'd imagine him being protective and he doesn't seem to need fast cash. Given his following Peter Jackson making a release announcement himself would make more sense than SF at SDCC as would him taking time to vet a distributor (if he doesn't self distribute).

wait wait wait. STOP! you mean to tell me, that there was lack of sales on deadly eyes. really!?!? that movie (to me) is in my top 3 scream factory releases so far, maybe even top 2 (and i have about 75-80 of their blu-rays). its just absolutely magical, and if anyone here has not picked it up. DO SO! that movie is off the rails :P

My updated list of predictions:

-Phantasm
-Phantasm III: Lord of The Dead
-Child's Play 2
-Bad Taste
-The Return of The Living Dead

And if one of the big announcements is that Shout! made a deal with Lionsgate:

-Dead Alive
-Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
