Good morning everyone! It’s been some time since we announced a whole slew of titles way back in early July so we felt it was about time to give you an update on some of them (and others not in that list) plus also reveal another obscure 80s thriller we have lined up for you:
WHITE OF THE EYE – From the Director of Demon Seed, this 1987 thriller will be coming to DVD & Blu-ray for the first time this November. The film Stars David Keith (Firestarter, An Officer and a Gentleman), Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull) and Alan Rosenberg (The Guardian). Expect pre-order links and a confirmed street date to go up sometime in the next two weeks. The artwork you see here is reversible (with the one on the left being newly-commissioned).
ELI ROTH’S THE STRANGER (10/1), THE RETURN OF COUNT YORGA (10/13), THE LARRY FESSENDEN COLLECTION (10/20), TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT & BORDELLO OF BLOOD (10/20), HUMAN CENTIPEDE III (10/27), HUMAN CENTIPEDE: THE COMPLETE SEQUENCE (10/27) and ARMY OF DARKNESS (10/27) – Full list of extras will formally announced in early Sept. We’ll leave you with a tease though: ARMY is now a 3-disc Blu-ray set.
DEATH BECOMES HER – Originally planned for November its now been moved to the early half of 2016 but for good reasons! We’ll keep our fingers crossed and explain later on this year.
TROLL & TROLL 2 double feature on Blu-ray is now planned for a 11/17 release. Extras are in the works and pre-order links will be going up by end of the month.
BLOOD & LACE – This long-lost slasher film from 1971 finally releases on a DVD & Blu-ray combo on 11/24 and a new HD transfer for it is completed! Pre-order links will be going up by end of the month.
GHOST STORY – Circle 11/24 on your calendars for this spooky and winter-filled tale of revenge. Extras are in progress but we have a fantastic one already produced and will share at a later date. Pre-order links will be going up by end of the month.
THE CAR – We’re aiming to park this in December. Heads up: For some strange legal reason we are not able to use the original theatrical or international poster art on our release and so a newly-designed piece has been created. Once that’s officially approved, we’ll share it with you and confirm a street date.
WOMEN’S PRISON MASSACRE, GARBAGE PAIL KIDS and NIGHTMARES – All blu-rays are expected for Dec. No other details to report at this time.
JACK’S BACK & THE GUARDIAN – Prepare to start off the new year with fear. Currently both releases are scheduled for Jan.
No movement yet on a release date yet for DESTROYER (sorry!). We are still have issues with retrieving suitable film elements.
THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW is now looking to strike in Feb or March 2016.
BTW - We do have more titles to announce before the year ends and will reveal them before the end of Sept. We’ll disclose more titles planned for 2016 in October.

Interesting tidbits regarding Army of Darkness and Death Becomes Her. Sounds like Army will be getting all the various cuts. I don't hold out much hope for Death getting the original cut, probably new extras produced with some of the stars or filmmakers being more likely, Zemeckis getting involved with the release would be great. Glad Serpent and the Rainbow is finally getting sorted out with an approximate release time frame, that's one of the titles I've been wanting for awhile.

In that case I hope the likes of The Dunwich Horror, Murders in the Rue Morgue, the 4 Vincent Price films and Curse 1 and 2 are announced over the next couple of months. Fairly sure from Mister Lime's comments that this lot are with Scream.

I'm hoping that Death Becomes Her is being held back so they can produce a new transfer as well as coordinate with the talents (cast and crew) behind the film to produce more special features.

OMG WHITE OF THE EYE. I like that flick. A lot. Great use of steadicam in it. What an unexpected surprise.

Hopefully the delay on Death Becomes Her is so they can include some deleted scenes.

I grabbed my copies at a convention as part of a deal from the Synapse vendor. I got Demons and Demons 2 steelbooks, and Curtains on Blu for $90. And over a year later I still see Synapse themselves trying to get rid of their remaining steelbooks. Which honestly surprises me cause they're 2 of the greatest horror Blu releases to date IMO, and 2 classic, pretty well known Italian horror movies for anyone who has an intermediate knowledge of pre-2000 horror. So it's examples like that why I understand Code Red doing initial limited runs for non-special editions of obscure movies.
It doesn't surprise me when they're nearly $50 each. That's a lot of green, man. I love both Demons flicks, but not at that price point. I'm content with the vanilla releases I snagged for $10 each.

A 3-disc blu ray version pretty much guarantees multiple versions of the film. At least two for sure, but I imagine three.

Guys, I'm trying to get a copy of Pumpkinhead with the slipcover on ebay, but the dude is charging $38 + another $4 for shipping. I'm trying to talk him down to $31 plus the shipping cost. Is that a good deal? The slip for this flick seems to be really hard to come by, and really expensive.

Edit: Zbinks! I appreciate the effort you put into that post brother! Thanks a million!

Really? But the movie came out a while back, don't the slips become OOP after a year or so?

This is from their FB page, from 2013:

*PACKAGING UPDATE ON COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS GOING FORWARD*

Hey there guys! We are implementing a packaging policy change effective with films released this month and beyond that we need to share with you. Initially it was our intention that our Scream Factory “Collector’s Series” slipcover would be constant throughout its lifecycle. However since then we (and some of you) have learned that our best laid plans have been met with manufacturing, production and logistics problems. The easiest solution to this, of course, would be to discontinue making slipcovers altogether…but we threw that notion out quick as we like them and we know you do too. Still, a change of plans was needed and after discussing many options, we have landed on the following:

- Our "CE" series will still have slipcovers as normal, but they will now only be produced for the initial shipment that generally makes up the new release phase (generally 2-3 months from its release date). Past this time period, your chances of receiving one are still good but only while supplies last. What this means is that if you order a CE title directly from us in this new release time period you will be guaranteed to receive a slipcover. For example: You purchase a CE title like Night of the Comet in a few weeks (streets 11/19) you’ll get one, but we can’t guarantee you will if you wait for a sale a year later. Also to add, in the rare occasion that your slipcover is damaged in transit from our website’s warehouse to you we will replace it as we have always done. Note: Multi-film collection sets in the Scream brand (like our Amityville and Vincent Price ones) will always have their slipcases.

- Our outside retailer/online partners will also be shipped CE titles with slipcovers. Although we cannot 100% guarantee that you will receive them from these accounts (based on some of their merchandising policies which we can’t control), your odds are still strongly in your favor that you will and most already send as is.

- To further help minimize slipcovers being removed in its lifecycle, we will be starting to shrink-wrap over them starting in the new year with the first release being CAT PEOPLE on 1/21.

We hope that you understand that we continue to do whatever we can to provide the best Scream Factory “experience” possible, which includes meeting your expectations with the quality of the films from the mastering to the packaging. You, our avid and passionate supporters, are very important to us and so by changing our policy here, our goal is to provide you with a much easier, certain and positive experience in the long run.

Thank you,

Scream Factory

I haven't heard of anyone not getting a slipcover with their purchase of the films where the cover was shrink wrapped to the package. This is one of those covers so like the other poster mentioned, I'd say just order it from another retailer as the odds are really really good you'll get one. If you really want to increase your odds, try ordering from sears.com or another website that doesn't sell as many movies as the amazons or best buy's of the world as they'll undoubtedly still have stock from the initial few months when the movie went on sale. Worst case scenario you get the film for $20 and then have to spend a few bucks for the cover separately... Even in this fashion you'll still spend less than $38. Just throw up an ad in your signature saying you want one and I'm sure eventually someone will contact you. It's worked for me every time I've tried so far. Sometimes it takes several months, but thus far someone has always came through for me.

You'll be throwing good money after bad. All Collector's Editions from January 2014 on have slipcovers shrinkwrapped to the disc, I hope you haven't overpaid on eBay for any of them.

Buy it from Amazon or hit up Jet.com to buy it with the sequel for $22 total (look in the Deals forum for the coupon code).

Well I paid $30 for Darkman, $40 for They Live (which came out in 2012, so the slipcover I imagine is OOP) and I just bought the fog for $28. I think I did overpay a bit, but from now on I'll go ahead and get them from Amazon if they're from 2014 and beyond, thanks!

Edit: Just placed an order for Pumpkinhead on Amazon for $19. I have my fingers crossed!

On a side note, I got Halloween III a couple of years ago for $15 on ebay, brand new with the slip. It's going for $45 and up now. I wonder if that still comes with the slipcover if purchased through Amazon.

One way to almost guarantee a slipcover is to buy from sites that likely don't see a lot of sales from the discs they offer, like Target. Every CE that I've purchased from them in the past few months has included a slip (The Fog, Terror Train, Deadly Blessing, etc). If you're buying from the likes of Deep Discount, you'll never get one with the older releases that weren't shrinkwrapped.

A little pricey, but I might bite if it really is that hard to find. I've been on a Scream binge lately.
