Speaking of Paramount, does anyone know why all the deleted footage from My Bloody Valentine was reinserted back in the film in rough form? They couldn't find the original negatives to do a full restoration?

I don't remember where I read this, but I do remember reading that Paramount found the negatives but just wouldn't waste any money with the restoration process.
If this is true, I hope Scream someday can get their hands on this film to do a proper uncut version in full HD.

I'm guessing this list is about 75% to 90% complete. The initial deal was reported to be "more than 600 Paramount catalog titles," but I don't think an exact count was ever published. I think the deal also gave Warner the ability to obtain even more back catalog titles after a certain period of time.
Its about 600 and my insider friend called them key titles so its upper tier or at least name titles.. the list includes Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, Lets Scare Jessica To Death, Silver Bullet, Tales from the Darkside the Movie etc

I forgot about Paramount having the rights to My Bloody Valentine. The bluray seems to be out of print. That's another one to add to the list of potential Scream pickups if a deal with Paramount happens in 2016.

My Bloody Valentine
Fire in the Sky
Tales From the Darkside
Silver Bullet
Pet Sematary 2
April Fool's Day

I would buy everyone of these movies if Scream Factory could get the rights.

Fire in the Sky is perhaps my most-wanted horror title that's not already on blu-ray!

...Except that My Bloody Valentine was released on blu by Lionsgate so you can scratch that one off the list.

On the other hand, who knows if Lionsgate still has the rights to it...but it is Lionsgate after all. :P

AFAIK, Lionsgate lost the rights and it went back to Paramount.

Well that would make sense considering how the blu is now OOP, but I wasn't certain.

...and they, in turn, handed it over to Warner Brothers who simply reissued the old barebones, theatrical cut Paramount DVD.

Another reminder of why we want this Paramount/WB deal to end.

I'd love to get Prophecy and Silver Bullet but my hopes aren't too high.

Those would be awesome to get, especially in collectors editions.

So since i'm ahead in my Monster Movie Marathon count, I decided to watch some other things last night and decided to revisit "A History of Horror" put out by the BBC. I watched part one last night and one thing caught my eye, During the segment on "Freaks" an MGM notation was displayed... is this film infact in MGM's possession? If so, anyone care to take a stab at why Scream Factory hasn't released it yet? Is it possible? I know it's older than hell and Black and White, so it falls pretty far outside of Scream Factory's usual MO, but this is a film I'd love to own on Blu Ray and with them really reaching/scraping the MGM vault clean it seems perfect for a future announcement. Possible?

It's now owned outright by Warner, as Warner bought MGM's pre-1986 catalog.

I didn't think it was still with MGM but I couldn't remember why I thought that. Too bad it was sold off... hopefully it makes it's way to the Archive Collection at some point then.

Silver Bullet is my most wanted film on blu-ray,together with Graveyard Shift,Cat's Eye and Stephen King's It. Hopefully someone will release them from Warner's film prison. Damn,I hate that company!
