Live and let live I always say !
I was just pointing out that it seems like a poor choice for the Scream Factory line. I understand horror and sci-fi (even bad ones with cult followings), but GPK really stretches credibility. I guess every bad movie automatically has a cult following now?

I rented GPK a handful of times when I was around 10/11. I loved the stickers, but even then I spotted this film was a dud as much as I tried to like it.

Funny thing though, I'd probably import it if it where cheap just for nostalgia and to see how bad it was.....but it would have to be cheap.

How much does SF pay to the studios to liscense their movies? I'm trying to get an idea of how many copies they have to sell before they break even.... anyone know or have an idea?

SF doesn't reveal exact numbers. They just say what sold well and what didn't.

Also, some films are part of a package deal so one really good film that Scream Factory knows will sell well will very likely pay for several smaller more niche films. This was one reason given as to why Escape from New York and Mad Max made it into the Scream Factory lineup as both sell well and both help fund other projects (like Howling II).

Strong feelings about The Legacy or Ghosthouse/Witchery? Taking a look at this week's sale and I haven't seen any of those three.

If we don't get a few more announcements before the weekend, does anyone think we might get a bumper crop on Halloween, maybe 5 or so? Clearly Scream have something planned for then (they replied with a cryptic 'possibly' today when asked), and this October has been rather quiet in terms of announcements when compared to last year. I think they might have an eye on Friday 13th November, but I still think we could get somewhere between 5-10 announcements between now and then, given that most of February-April's line-up is likely to be filled before the end of the year.

The only thing I'm expecting from Shout are updates on the rest of their 2015 lineup tbh. Extras reveals, that sort of thing. This is the quietest the label has been in a while. Does anyone know if Cliff is still with the company?

I really don't think there's anything to worry about with regard to the near future of Scream, given that six releases are already slated for January. I hope I'm right anyway! They surely have a number of MGM and Universal titles up their sleeves at least.

With Witchery I don't recommend it but if anything you have to go into it appreciating bad cheesiness -. Linda Blair, synch music score, David Hasselhoff, haunted house... ends up being mostly boring with an occassional gruesome kills. In one part it tries it's damnedest to make a set of shiny jewelry horrifying.

He's still listed as the BD producer on Army of Darkness so I think he's still there.

Well Amazon cancelled my preorder of Serpent and the Rainbow.

Due to a lack of availability.

Really I have mine pre ordered through Amazon and they haven't cancelled mine. Do you have Amazon Prime. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Yes I'm a Prime member. I agree, I don't think that makes a difference.

If we get any new announcements (and I don't think we will) they will likely be for IFC Midnight/Modern films. Scream Factory has cranked out a lot this year and already announced several releases well into 2016... I wouldn't be surprised to see very little in terms of Catalog announcements for the rest of the year, and a dramatic shift toward modern post 2000 films in 2016 as well. Unless a new deal is/has been struck with Warner, Paramount, Fox, Sony or Lionsgate, I just don't see 2016 having nearly as many catalog films. We'll still see a fair amount throughout the year, but I think that the balance between old and new will shift dramatically in the new year barring any new deals. I will say that a very large part of me is hoping for a Surprise Tales from the Hood Announcement on Halloween though.

It's not a Prime issue. When Scream Factory announced the new release date, it was listed at Amazon with a brand new ASIN rather than using the original ASIN that many had already preordered with.
