There's more they could get from Universal, but the well is running dry.

Throw in Species 2 and Manhunter and this was a pretty great weekend of announcements IMO.
Most documentaries are boring because very little effort is put into them. The strategy is find a couple of actors (hopefully main players) and convince them to sit in front of a camcorder while an invisible host throws random questions at them. Even if they remember anything from the shoot, most of the comments will be generic things like "he was great to work with". As for the transfer, well, we all know Scream Factory rarely gets an opportunity to create a new master. I don't see a reason why they would try to go for a new transfer for TCM2. Arrow didn't produce a new master for their release so it's even less likely SF will do so.

MANHUNTER is indeed a great announcement, I'll give you that much

There is more but it seems a new deal would need to take place. Time will tell if it happens again. MGM is Screams major studio outlet but thats not to say they arent trying elsewhere. Id expect more from IFC. There is still more to be had from MGM , but SF isnt the only kid on the block. Kino, TT and Olive (I heard they have some more pre 80s MGM cult and a couple of older horror titles) have gutted the MGM catalog titles filled with titles SF could have had !

I suspect Scream are probably holding back a few announcements for Friday 13th. Maybe The Curse/Curse II will be among them.

That would not surprise me at all. I wonder if they have Killer Klowns or Jeepers creepers re-releases planned. (Id pass on those but I just wonder now that TCM II came out)

The only title Im getting from Fridays announcement for sure is Lady In White. I do prefer pre-80s but the Dunwich Horror didnt do anything for me. I really wanted to like it but I thought it was dull

I would also pass on Killer Klowns and Jeepers Creepers. Already out in the $5 bin, and in Killer Klowns' case it's stacked and looks pretty good. I don't really see why there needs to be a new release, same as Texas Chainsaw Massacre II tbh.

I'd rather Scream work with Sony to get Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. It's very underrated and hasn't been released already.

The Sony catalog would be a great start. Everyone else is in there, not sure why Scream isn't?

Is Sony still not letting anyone produce extras? Maybe Shout is holding back until Sony changes their mind. There's a wealth of untapped (or barely tapped) content there. 976-Evil, Candyman, The Seventh Sign, Piranha II for starters.

The transfer of TCM2 on the already available blurays are already really good. I would love for scream to prove me wrong but I have a hard time believing that they can improve (or even keep pace) with what's already available. I love a good slipcover but I'm not paying $20 for a nice one for TCM2.

Some of the TT have had extras, like the Fright Night re-release, The Blob etc.

I'd like for them (or Criterion) to finally do work on Carrie. Hopefully all the issues with doing a proper remaster can finally get cleared.

I'm pretty sure the reason those were allowed was that they were extras that already existed. Sony doesn't want new extras created that they don't have control over. At least that's what others have said is the reason.

Was the commentary on the Blob not new? I don't remember the DVD having any extras, and with the Fright Night stuff.

MGM released a subpar blu-ray years ago, and Fox has been repackaging the same disc with different covers / slip covers many times since then (including that release). Scream Factory tried to do a new release, but MGM didn't give them access to the original negative, but hopefully that changes.

Thank you for clearing that up. I keep seeing it in a wal-mart bin (I think 6 or 7 bucks) with what looks like a newer cover but keep passing on it. Looks like the wait may be a bit. Also be nice if they got Piper Laurie (and Sissy & Travolta) for the commentary.

Another Army Of Darkness error?
