EFNY was shot down several times, before it was announced.

Yeah but Im not talking about MGM titles, Im talking Critters, In the Mouth of Madness, Vampires, Fright Night..

EFNY had been shot down, but new deals are made and Im sure Shout offered more money, plus MGM had already released it on blu ray.. they dont sub-license their top 200 sellers until they release a blu ray of it themselves. I wouldnt expect the Terminator however

Not only EFNY but many others as well. If a title is requested a lot it lets SF know there is interest. This thread has always been home to wish lists. Just deal people.

Doesn't matter.
The point is, it was a title that had been initially shot down but then later released.
This leads folks to believe it can happen again. Thusly folks posting their wish lists.
Personally I think it's a waste of time, and bogs the thread down...but it seems to be on topic, so there's that.

I agree. Which is why I've learned to scan posts.
Also I was definitely one of the guilty parties that constantly asked for EFNY!

Normally I can't stand people who want SF to release something that's already released to Blu in a perfectly good edition just so they can have a slipcover.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, is a great example.

But I'll echo the sentiments that Carpenter's The Thing would be a good get for Scream, assuming they can do a transfer without compression.

The Universal Blu doesn't look as good as the HD-DVD and the way they butchered that excellent documentary is shameful to the point it makes the Blu nearly worthless from a supplemental standpoint.

It does matter. Requesting titles held by Warner that have been shot down over and over again. And its for the same reason.
*Later released* titles were from MGM, Universal, not Warner, not Lionsgate, not Image.
Shout must have had at least 3 Universal deals and 4-6 MGM deals at this point. What MGM titles they didnt get the first time (Without Warning) they licensed later on.

Yeah it is pretty amusing when people ask for stuff that has been recently released but then again most people probably don't follow these things the way we do.

For now critters and many others might just not be possible but hopefully one day that will change (regardless of who releases them). It's not a bad thing to let those who control which movies get released to know what titles consumers have an interest in.

I don't know why it bothers some when others post requests regardless if asked a million times or not. I'd loathe to be at a concert standing near the complainers requesting to play a certain song only to have hollered back, "THEY WON'T EVER PLAY THAT IN CONCERT. DON'T YOU EVER CHECK THE INTERNET BEFORE ATTENDING...."

I'm actually wondering if the hold-up with THE THING is due to some sort of contract stipulation with the remake / prequel? It may be off the market for third party licensing depending on the terms originally set up with the producers.

Another release date change for The Serpent and the Rainbow. From Scream's FB:

Quote:
***Street date change***

Sorry guys but we need to delay our Collector's Edition release of THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW for one more month. It's new street date is 2/23/16.

We want to present this in the best way possible (since it is, sadly, the last Wes Craven film we have planned) and a little extra time was needed in order to do so. We hope you understand and we appreciate your patience.

Specs & extras will be announced in early January. Pre-order now @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...ctor-s-edition
And a follow-up post in response to whether or not there will be a Wes Craven tribute/retrospective:

Quote:
Since we've seen this come up a couple of times we feel its only fair that we try to manage expectations earlier than later on this out of respect for you guys.

Although we would have loved to do so in perfect world, we unfortunately are not able to do retrospective/tribute featurette on Mr. Craven. To do so and present one properly (befitting a legend) is not something we are able to accomplish for a variety of reasons. Sorry.

The delay however is for good reasons and fans of the film SERPENT itself will be pleased when we can formally announce them.

When you really think about it, it's actually good when fans constantly ask them if they will be releasing this or that movie in the future. It shows them what's in demand and what will sell well. Basically, it gives them more reason to ask certain studios to make a deal that allows them to release it on Blu.

Initially you said all people had to do was scroll down to find more info, and I'm saying had someone "scrolled down" a couple years ago...it would not have mattered...because EFNY was eventually released after being told, point blank, that it would not.
Not really sure how this is open for debate?

I hope these interminable delays are because they're working on improving the transfer and not because of some extra that's taking longer than expected. I watch these featurettes just once since they're all the same talking head format with people who barely remember anything. And since there's no Wes Craven tribute then a delay because of an extra is even more inexcusable.

Its not open for debate.. you keep using EFNY as your point, its an MGM title.
I keep using Critters, its a Warner title. You dont need to scroll down two years to see Critters shot down thanks. Dont know why you keep needing to quote me and rebuttle. Let it go man !

Seems like amazon.ca is listing a double feature for Destroyer / Edge Of Sanity for April 2016, via Shout. I assume this will fall under the Scream Factory banner.
