Actually, THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE was filmed in the 1958-59 era, but then sat on the shelf until AIP acquired it for a double-feature circa 1962. I can't imagine why it sat on the shelf!

or Return of the Fly, or The Last Man on Earth OR Tower of London or Attack of the Crab Monsters or Not of this Earth,
but yeah they typically arent the black and white type. At least they try to get some.
I wonder if they have Island of Terror or I Saw What You Did (1960s)
I do also wish for more black and whites. I think the last of my DVD collection will be nothing but pre 60s B&W films !

Whoops, I totally forgot about the first three but those are also Vincent Price films and part of box sets, and the last two were DVD-only (which is unfortunate as they are two of my favorites and part of an excellent 2-disc set that I give regular rotation despite it being SD.)

Obviously I'd love to be wrong and would eagerly snatch up any 50s sci-fi/horror that Scream released, though Kino have been filling the void admirably.

Speaking of Patty Duke how about Curse of the Black Widow with Tony Franciosa and Donna Mills? I remember that late 70s movie creeped me out big time. I'd love to get that on blu-ray.

I wonder if Scream got a hold on some deep catalogue titles such as Tarantula, This Island Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Man etc. I guess it all depends on whether Uni is interested on releasing them themselves.
There ARE a lot of Universal titles still out there. Lot of non horror too. Revenge of the Creature 3-D, Creature Walks Among Us, It Came From Outer Space 3-D, Deadly Mantis, Monolith Monsters, Land Unknown, Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, The Abott & Costello movies, Curse of the Werewolf, Island of Terror, Airport 77, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Frances, Matinee, Crooklyn, Slither, etc..

no kidding!!! The amount of potential Universal titles is incredible!!! Universal owned the decade of the 50's with big bug/monster movies.... let's please see some in 2016!

Really terrific 70's psycho-thriller, filmed at a mansion in Minnesota which became infamous several years later when actual murders occurred there (the millionairess owner of the house (and her nurse) were murdered by her grown adopted sociopath daughter and her latest psychopathic husband, for the fortune, of course. There could be some great extras just covering that true story, as the mansion now has tours of the house, and at one time supposedly had the VHS of the movie for sale in their gift shop. Not sure if I really believe that, though. Google the Congdon Mansion for more info.

Anyway, it's a forgotten gem. If you are a fan of low-key 70's thrillers, you're in for a real treat. Great snowy setting, location footage, suspenseful drama. And don't be turned off by the PG - that was a 1972 PG.

It was released in 1960.. I think it was because the studios found it to be too appalling for the time. Arms getting ripped off or bites out of the neck werent very commonplace back then

The Flesh Eaters pushed the bar even more (Id love this on blu ray !! ) , and so did the HG Lewis movies, which became an inspiration to gory films all over the world !

Bear in mind though that Scream probably won't be going after Universal's classic sci-fi films, and that they might be out of bounds anyway. Also remember that the Jaws films are apparently off-limits as well. The Hammer titles and Island of Terror would certainly be interesting and probably decent sellers, but again we can't be sure if Scream will want these given that they tend to focus on films from the 70s onwards. With that in mind - and also since we're talking primarily about sci-fi and horror - that indeed doesn't leave a great deal. Certainly, we're not talking MGM levels of depth here. In terms of new titles, these are the ones that I think would appeal to them (providing all are still with Universal):

Colossus: The Forbin Project
The Boy Who Cried Werewolf
Rollercoaster
Burned at the Stake (AKA The Coming)
Nighthawks (possibly a CE candidate)
The Burbs (recently shot down IIRC) (CE candidate)
Psycho IV
Raising Cain (CE candidate)
Matinee (CE candidate)
No Escape
Serial Mom (CE candidate)
Tales from the Hood (CE candidate)
Virus
Session 9 (CE candidate)
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Cry Wolf
Altered
Slither (shot down for this year at least)

There's probably a few more I've left out, but I think Akijama is right in saying there isn't a great deal left from the Universal catalogue, especially if Scream aren't interested in, or can't get, the Hammer or classic sci-fi titles. Of course, it's likely they might go after previously released Universal titles (American Werewolf in London, Firestarter, Child's Play 2 and 3, etc) and give them Collector's Editions (though apparently they can't get hold of The Thing, I suspect they'll keep trying).

Tales from the Hood & Brotherhood of the Wolf were shot down though
Im really sure Island of Terror would be a big seller since its a Hammer horror - its never had an official disc release in the USA on top of that.

Well if that's the case then there's even fewer to pick from.

Island of Terror isn't Hammer. It was made by Planet Film Productions, who also made Night of the Big Heat I believe.

Ugh. Someone needs to release that. I don't get why no one has yet but smaller (and arguably worse films) get Blu-rays. I'm not talking from SF either, but any company.

All they need to do is slap "From the director of Guardians of the Galaxy" on the top or bottom of the cover to get people interested.

Maybe when October rolls around Universal will release it. They are releasing some catalog stuff and Howard The Duck is getting a release and they didn't time it with the buzz from Guardians either so there is hope that it gets a RA 1080p release

Oh, I would love for them to release Colossus: The Forbin Project. And if they could get the 1977 Demon Seed, too, my palms would get seriously sweaty. I have a thing for those 1970's techno horror movies.

I actually purchased region free blu copies of Island of Terror, Serial Mom and Virus through Amazon Germany. While they look OK, I know they can look a whole lot better. Hopefully, Shout/Scream Factory can get their hands on them.

I also picked up region free copies of Orca, Deepstar Six and The Changeling. While Orca & Deepstar Six look okay, again they can look better, The Changeling looks AWFUL!

Instead of repeating myself, I'll just agree with your post.

Jaws 2 & 3, The Burbs, Slither are off-limits because Uni will likely release them themselves. The same probably goes for Serial Mom since they released it in the UK. Furthermore, they recently also shot down, rather decidedly, Brotherhood of the Wolf. So, yeah, there aren't many Uni's horror titles left around. But, re-releases will save the day for Scream Factory.

I'd buy any of these from a Universal/Scream deal:

Tales from the Hood
The Burbs
No Escape (94)
The Hunted (95)
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Altered
The Thing (If Scream can make it better than previous release)
An American Werewolf in London (If Scream can make it better than previous release)
Nighthawks (If an uncut version can be found)
