Not quite as flawless as the OOP Twilight Time transfers are reported to be (damn my hesitation!), but they look very good and have loads of extras, including isolated score tracks. Currently sixty bucks on Amazon.
Not quite as flawless as the TT? They're the same transfers.

SF gets a lot of flack, but without them, there'd be so many treasures we'd never get a chance to see in HD, albeit with the qualifications that come with their translation(s) on the format.

Army of Darkness, imho, was a knockout release, and kudos to everyone who worked on it for gathering all of that material and finally releasing it all at once.

But yeah, NIGHTWATCH, SF, NIGHTWATCH!!
Yes! Nightwatch is such a creepy overlooked thriller. Nick Nolte and Josh Brolin are amazing in it. And there's the always peculiar presence of Brad Dourif.
I remember there was a workprint available online with all the deleted footage in it. Ole Bornedal should try to assemble his version and release it on Blu just like Del Toro did with Mimic.

I'd rather the original, a far superior film.

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger has already been released by Twilight Time (sold out though), from the sounds of it Twilight Time won't be re-issuing this but I believe there is an Australian edition available. It's also a Sony title and Scream does not work with them.
Oh I don't care if scream does those movies or not really, as long as someone does.

So what's the word on popcorn? All I could find was announcements synapse was doing it but those were dated in 2014.

It should be released sometime this year. They're currently working on extras for it.

Hope so, I didnt even know this was being worked on.

Im a huge fan of horror films from the 80s-90s, but I find it hard to keep track of whats coming out and such that isnt a mainstream or big release. By the time I find stuff out its sold out and double retail on ebay or something.

Never saw the 1997 version, but the 1994 original was a damn fine film!

I'd really like it if scream could release the deathmaster (1972), grave of the vampire (1972) and he knows you're alone (1980).

sorry, I dont' follow this thread all the time so I may have missed if they were already announced or rejected.

With good screencaps? If not it's useless to me, I love HD screencaps.

Mimic and Nightwatch actually make for an interesting double feature. Especially since Brolin is in both (his two characters make for a curious double take on characterization, tbh).

Ah, the '90s... How I miss you so...

Not just Brolin, Alix Koromzay also has a small role on both films.
And I heard Ole Bornedal also directed a few scenes in Mimic.

aaaand both films got screwed over by the Weinsteins (Nightwatch didn't suffer from it as much as Mimic tho)

Holiest of molies, you're right! And here I thought I had an eye for small character role actors!

I never knew that about Bornedal... Nightwatch definitely seems the more brutalized of the two as far as the Weinsteins go. So much in that film that screams incomplete. It's a testament to the actors that they hold the story together. Great atmosphere too.

I don't know if you have heard of the film, Hush, from 1998, with Paltrow and Lange, but it was the first film I saw that I remembered going after it was done, "Wow, the trailer is literally 99% different than what I just saw."

What. A. Disaster.

I'm not sure. Nothing in the story of Nightwatch was changed, only a few scenes got deleted (and most of them had to do with Martin and his friends/girlfriend outside of the killer plot, so I assume it was for pacing reasons. also, some of the scenes were a little goofy and kind of killed the movie's creepy atmosphere).
Mimic on the other hand had its final act completely changed. The ending is a disaster, completely different from what Del Toro had envisioned.

Oh yes, I did see Hush, long time ago. I remember it was pretty silly but Lange was terrific as the ***** mother in the law. Didn't know the film was changed that much in post production.

Interesting. One of the posts in IMDb made it seem like more was excised. I suppose I shouldn't take everything at face value on THOSE boards (lol). It's a little sad that del Toro couldn't actually give us the full director's cut, considering how incomplete it still feels.

Oh well. Still a solidly above average creature flick. Nightwatch has an awesome trailer, btw. Miss the days when trailer companies would use Christopher Young's Copycat.

Boy, great trailer. And you're right, all the thrillers in the 90's had Copycat playing in the trailers lol. That's another one I really like.

Nick Nolte is chilling in this. One of my favorite roles of his. Nolte alone brings the original film to the ground. I like the original, but the acting in the remake is far superior. The only thing about the original that I like more is Martin. Nikolaj Coster Waldau played a better Martin. McGregor is a little over the top.

Derp! You're right, it's right there in the Blu-Ray.com reviews. My bad. It's just that the reviews were so glowing, but the source materials for my Sony set have *very* minor (yet noticeable) flaws. ...Oh God, am I turning into the exact sort of nit-picky poseur I can't stand?

Also, what with dueling transfers between smaller companies and such, I still can't wrap my head around the same transfer and extras TT used for a "limited edition" being used for a general Sony release. That means the TT edition of Golden Voyage is selling at its current ridiculous prices because of its cover and collector mania.

(It IS a very lovely cover though.)
