Where boutique labels are concerned, it usually does. I take your point about the Silent Night double-feature, but that was only re-released to tie in with the remake - I'm sure they would have remained OOP otherwise. And please, don't use all caps - it's the visual equivalent of screaming at someone.

I checked about two weeks ago and that wasn't the case, maybe we'll see some news in 2013?

Dawn of the Dead was on their website last week. I guess they've removed it in the last few days. Cliff, are you guys going to release this one too? Do you know what's going on with this title? It would be a great companion release to Day of the Dead. Also, do you know if the Weinsteins still have Suspiria?

Thanks

I'm just gonna throw in that when The Fog comes to Blu Ray from these guys at some point next year....will be one of my favorite days of 2013, no doubt! I've been waiting since 2007 for this!

BTW, is Cliff still around? (His own dedicated Ask thread hasn't been updated since September.)
Scream Factory is all very well, but where do we go for non-horror related Shout questions?

Is he still on the lose, or did we loose him a while ago?
(Or should that be loooose, with the extra O's?)

Got my copy of The Island yesterday (fast to uk!! )

First Scream title for me, well excited. Huge fan of 80's horror and Sci-Fi.

Going to add They Live! and Halloween III for xmas.

Hoping they issue Phantasm (set), Class of 1999, Prince of Darkness and The Stuff during 2013

Also, I'm gonna venture a guess here--Synapse picked up Dawn of the Dead (the biggie they alluded to). I mean, didn't they just release some documentary about DOTD? Makes sense that they would jump on the actual film if they got the chance.
I don't know about anyone else but, as great as DOTD is, I'd be much more excited about a new-to-DVD title than a reissue. I really hope it's THE KINDRED or another MIA slasher.

It seems that there are two different arguments going on here, fanboyz is saying criterion shifted their product to more obscure and art house fare, when they no longer could get more mainstream films.

acp it looks like you thought he meant the quality of the product changed, when he was just saying the titles have changed. I think you both agree their product has always been high quality.
Yep thats exactly what I think happened.

Hi
This is a Scream Factory thread. Not a Criterion thread
Scream Factory , get it ? Scream Factory !!
The Criterion thread is harboring nearby.
At least both studios do put out a quality product..
but this is the Scream Factory thread..you know The Fog , The Burning, Scanners II, The Godsend and 2013 being a banner year for the horror fan in all us...

I'll be blind buying The Fog, the Howling and The Burning eventually. While the Day of the Dead reissue sounds nice, it's not a title I love enough to re-purchase. The Anchor Bay version will suffice for me

I'm guessing their announcement will be a few of the Hammer titles that have been released in the UK, but I'd love if it were The Kindred.

I love the train of thought that it could be a Dawn of the Dead set, tying in with Document of the Dead, I just don't think it's within the realm of possibility. What's the biggest title that Synapse has released in their history?

Maniac Cop
, I guess? They mostly do low-budget and indie films.

Hammer films don't do anything for me. I blind bought two, Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus, tried to get into them but just couldn't. They must fall into the category of "acquired taste", like the Rollin movies (I liked them even less), or Fulci. Hasn't Hammer been resurrected? Instead of trying to really hard to emulate their past by making new films, the studio should revisit the old ones by reissuing their catalog on Blu themselves.

They're an acquired taste, but can't think how you got through one Hammer WITH Peter "Death Star General" Cushing in it and not acquire that Hammer vibe.
But then, Twins and Circus were when Hammer was transitioning off their usual Dark-Shadows B-bodice tone into more of their "mod" 60's-70's fare, with a slightly more psychedelic tone, more risque' envelope-pushing for the new R-ratings, and more crazy/corrupt Puritan witch-hunters to appeal to youth's rebellion against authority.

Now, if you got just Cushing, in "Revenge of Frankenstein", that's purer distilled Hammer. And if you can look up "Quatermass & the Pit", I need say no further.
