All of the Miramax/Dimension titles are with Lionsgate now.

Also, Behavior was a lot more enjoyable than I last remember it being. Glad I got a copy.
EBHE released it on Blu-ray but the Miramax film is now with Lionsgate.

Sony holds the rights to the original 976-Evil.

I simply meant that since the films were getting some tv time perhaps Lionsgate was considering a release in the near future... My intent was not to state that Scream Factory should release them. I was simply sharing the news of their airing in the one place I figured the most amount of people would see.

Bah, that means it'll get a Twilight Time release more than anything else.

If the films were to get a remake (ala Leprechaun) or a theatrical rerelease (ala The Wicker Man) in the works, maybe. If not, Lionsgate seemingly has very little interest in using their HD masters for physical releases.

Be me to it.

Also, there's plenty of movies that air on cable in HD that still haven't received a Blu release. Sometimes that's because one studio might have home video rights, but another has television broadcast rights.

For example, Paramount has television rights for Fright Night II (and it still airs on cable), yet apparently nobody knows who owns the home video rights.

What I'm saying is that one usually doesn't equal the other. I'm just as frustrated with these big studios sitting on their libraries as anyone else.

Yeah I getcha... still, whenever an obscure film is aired I still feel it's worth mentioning since in some cases it does signal the possibility of a Blu Ray release. Ghoulies/Ghoulies II aired a few months before their Blu Ray's were released, Showdown in Little Tokyo aired a few months before it's release, etc. I know that generally the tv/movies are unrelated but I often can't help but wonder if the tv airings aren't used to test the waters in terms of how interested people are in them being shown. Between tv ratings and social media buzz, it's fairly easy for studios to get an idea if people get excited about these films, which is why I always try to post about them just in case by some chance someone is paying attention and it helps make a physical release a bit more likely.

I am thinking about getting some scream factory titles sometime this year. Do they ever have good sales on these? I think there is around 10 titles I would love to pick up.

collectors editions-- $17.99 to $19.99*

non-collectors editions-- $13.99 to $17.99*

in most cases, that's as good as it gets. Look between Amazon and Deep Discount for this pricing.

*sometimes a few bucks lower if there's a coupon like a 15% off sale at DD (before they inflate the regular price of course....)

If anyone is on the edge about a couple SF releases (as I am), New Year's Evil and Pumpkinhead are available for streaming with an Amazon Prime membership. Watching the former now, it's been in my amazon cart for some time so I was happy to see it available. Will try to watch the latter tonight as well, if I can stay awake. Also available is Jack's Back, though I have no interest in that one at the moment.

I am so glad I used Prime to give Madman a try before buy, not one I would have wanted in my collection. Though that is not a SF release.

Ok thanks. I will probably get some of them from Amazon later on.

Streaming services do have their uses. MADMAN isn't a film I'd recommend to millenials who grew up watching Buffy reruns

Madman had all the makings of a slasher I'd love (being practically identical to The Burning/Sleepaway Camp/the Friday films) but it was disastrous. The cast was HORRIBLE and that killer's makeup.... the constant closeups of his feet and hands kept making me laugh.

Yeah, Madman seems like a movie made by 15 year olds. Very amateurish on all fronts, besides the lighting in the night scenes. It's fun, but to use it as an example of maturity compared to Buffy... Maybe it could be used as an example of maturity compared to Blue's Clues?

Madman may not be a work of great maturity, but I don't think that was the point. Many young people are contemporary-centric - they always have been. They can balk at unconvincing physical effects and be impressed with Avatar, which to my eyes looks just as unreal. It's just that the "unreality" is digital and not physical.

I enjoy Madman. I'm perfectly aware of its flaws, but I'm still sucked in. And it's got more than beautifully lit night scenes to it's credit. The cinematography is pretty tight as well. And the acting is no worse than that in fan favourites such as Blood Rage or Pieces.

It wasn't the point of the filmmakers, but it seemed to be the implied point of the guy saying "you like buffy no wonder you cant handle MADMAN, you're a little kid!!" I was just responding to that.

I didn't really like Madman, but yeah, it's not any worse in an acting/technical sense than Blood Rage or Pieces. I just found them MUCH more enjoyable due to the hysteria of the performances and the way more "out-there" events. And yes, the cinematography is far better than many similar movies.
