Well put - I love Madman because it manages to conjure up an atmosphere for me which the other two don't. Despite its flaws, I could actually suspend my disbelief on my first viewing to let myself be startled and unnerved. The other two were a bit too goofy and overwrought to accomplish that. I did enjoy them, but with a more ironic distance. I guess it's a question of both preference and mind-set.

yeah, I enjoy most slashers especially from the heyday of the 80's but I never cared much for this one. Not well made at all....

I also got 3/4's through New Year's Evil last night. Will NOT be purchasing that one either. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime. I almost never stream movies, but so glad I did in this (and Madman's) case.

And as for Madman, I don't particularly care about special effects or bad acting. Hell, I own and adore loads of cheesy slashers. The film is just NOT good. There is only one capable actress (and I do NOT mean the completely dull/stiff lead, but the curly haired "joker girl"). The hot-tube scene... what the actual ****?! Just spinning around slowly and staring, soundtracked by that horrible music. And that squeaky girl who hid in the fridge. When she screamed, I started laughing at the sheer ridiculousness. And why is Madman blue?? An alcoholic, abusive man now living in the woods suddenly has grayish blue skin?! Could have been the "night lighting" I guess/Amazon Prime's LQ picture quality. I love 80's slashers, they have massive replay value for me. But don't tell me it is a generational thing that makes me find Madman so painfully shit.

I get it, slasher movies aren't your cup of tea. You've been very clear about that in just about every comment you post about slasher movies. But do you have to ridicule them every chance you get?

Now, I'm the other side of the coin. I streamed Madman about 5 days ago to see if I want to purchase it, and I loved it! As others mentioned, the photography is great. The warm colors inside contrasted with the blue outdoor shots are great. Plus, it's got Gaylen Ross from Dawn of the Dead. I believe this, Creepshow and Dawn are her only film credits!

Gaylen was a dead ringer for a blonde Zooey Deschanel in Dawn of the Dead.

TCM 2 looks great - nice job, SF! This release is now the ultimate, definitive version of this film and I'm thrilled to own a copy. Since the Arrow release is Region B this version will be my go-to copy whenever I'm in the mood to watch it.

I guess Raising Cain and Lady in White being delayed until August might mean that we'll see few new announcements over the next couple of weeks. Still, hopefully we'll get at least 3 retro titles on top of these. Psycho IV is the only other title we're aware of.

Sounds like Luther The Geek. That movie had plenty of potential but the whole clucking thing ruined it for me.

***ROTLD UPDATE***
A last-minute extra just came in on our upcoming THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD release that we wanted to make sure you were a aware of. We have a new commentary with actors Thom Mathews, John Philbin and make-up effects artist Tony Gardner!
The full list of bonus material can be found @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/the-r...he-living-dea…. Here's to "more brains" this Summer!

***Street Date Delay***
We wanted to let you know that the street date for the LADY IN WHITE Blu-ray has changed. The product will now be released on August 30th.
The director of the film is heavily involved in the release (always a good thing) and we need a little more time to put together some unique added value that he has offered to help with creating. As always, we want to be sure that the product will be the best it can be. We regret delaying the release again, but we want it to be right.
More info will be posted here in early Summer as this release develops. We think you will be very pleased with the results and we appreciate your understanding.

I see Fright Night Part II has been announced in Germany by 84 Entertainment, and they're claiming that Paramount has the rights and has licensed to them.

I was just looking at this. While it's promising for sure, I wouldn't get my hopes up about a US release anytime soon... although based on another users comments that I read in either this thread or the Return of the Living Dead thread a few weeks ago, supposedly big things were coming from Scream Factory later this year, so certainly anything is possible.

If not, I'll import. Is the German release likely to be region free? I assume the release will be an official copy (so many bootleg versions out there).

It's official. It's being released from 84 Entertainment, who recently released the unedited Tourist Trap. It was region free, but who knows about this.

Who knows. There were also issues with this title when it first came up for sale. Amazon was charging $29.99 for a few days after street date plus it wasn't even in stock in the beginning. Maybe Scream Factory ordered up fewer copies
