Of all the SF CE's this one took the most bizarre track, IMO.
The price was all over the map, mostly on the high side. There was a brief period when it became unavailable during preorder. Then I had to wait several weeks after release for it to hit, what I felt was, a comfortable price range(~$25), which is a few dollar more than every other SF CE if preordered, both, before and after Serpent. ![]() |

I know people are waiting for Psycho 4 and most people hate the 1998 remake of Psycho but I actually find it amusing and would love to have it on HD and with an HD DTS 5.1 audio track. (I think the Australian release is DD only and many report the image quality isn't the best, I watched it in theatres and a film from 98 shouldn't have to look this bad on disc)
As much as people slam the Psycho remake it is miles better than remakes of Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th IMO. |

I actually liked it quite a bit. It's definitely cheesy, and there were some parts that annoyed me, but I enjoyed it the whole time. Some cool kills throughout, and some interesting twists and turns. I wouldn't go in expecting something genuinely amazing, but for a slasher in TV format it was pretty solid. Also, for just over $20 it's a no-brainer for me.

The DVD is pretty bad. It's window boxed and from DVD's earlier days. It's better than nothing, and I fire it up every now and then, but pretty much any type of release will be a massive improvement.

What many of you have been waiting for:
**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE** This Summer stay out of the showers! “Norman Bates” is back in PSYCHO IV, which is headed to the Blu-ray format on August 23rd. A seemingly rehabilitated Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) is drawn to a late night radio show where the host (CCH Pounder) encourages him to share his views on the topic of matricide. Reliving his childhood, Norman recounts his trials of a young boy (Henry Thomas) living with his widowed schizophrenic mother (Olivia Hussey). These haunting memories are more than just disturbing visions of the past; they threaten to rekindle his killing urge in this spine-tingling thriller directed by Mick Garris (The Stand, Masters of Horror). Extras are in progress and will be announced sometime later on in the early Summer time period. Pre-order now @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...-the-beginning ![]() |
