IIRC Criterion were actually offered the chance to do SotL again, but they declined because they felt they could do little to improve on the current release.

3) Is it not a little on the nasty side for the label? I recall, for example, that the powers-that-be at Shout didn't want them releasing Ms.45 or Massacre at Central High. LHotL does have a certain notoriety.

Of course, anything's possible, but I don't see this one happening myself.
I think this should put aside any concerns you have about whether a film is outside Screams comfort zone...

Very true lol, I forget the modern stuff. Still, the first two points stand!

I most definitely agree with the first 2 points. As for what we could see for an August Collectors edition... the long gestating Phantasm release/Phantasm Boxset could be it.

That would be some coup. I certainly expect some big hitters in September and October, usually important months for Scream. Collector Editions of certain MGM and Universal titles (Child's Play series, Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, and so forth) would certainly fit the bill in the absence of something like The Exorcist III Director's Cut (or indeed, sit nicely alongside it!).

Speaking of The Hitcher, I'd like the remake to get a release as well. Sophia Bush is pretty great in it.

Going back to the earlier discussion, I thought I'd offer lists of MGM, Universal and Fox horror titles already released on Blu-ray which Scream might consider upgrading, for the sake of convenience.

Now it's of course possible that Scream won't release a number of these for various reasons - they simply don't want to, studios won't licence them, Scream don't think they can top the existing package, problems with materials, and so forth - but it's interesting to speculate nonetheless. It should be noted, for example, that Scream have yet to re-issue a Fox title, so those titles may be out of reach (to my knowledge, we've no idea what Fox's policy is on such double-dips).

Certain titles I think unlikely to get CE's - for example, the Wrong Turn sequels and Hils Have Eyes 2 - I haven't listed, but there's probably some things I've omitted, so let me know any realistic candidates I might have missed.

MGM

Last House on the Left (1972)
Carrie (1976)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

Teen Wolf (1985)
Poltergeist 2 (1986)
Child's Play (1988) (Coming?)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Poltergeist 3 (1988)

Misery (1990)
Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Species (1995)

Hannibal (2001)

Universal

Dracula (1979)

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
The Thing (1982)
Firestarter (1984)

Child's Play 2 (1990)
Tremors (1990)
Cape Fear (1991)
Child's Play 3 (1991)
The Frighteners (1996)
Bride of Chucky (1998)
End of Days (1999)

Red Dragon (2002)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Seed of Chucky (2004)
Land of the Dead (2005)
Dead Silence (2007)

Jaws 2 (1978) (?)
Jaws 3-D (1983) (?)
Jaws: The Revenge (1987) (?)
The 'Burbs (1989) (?)

Fox

The Omen (1976)
Omen II: Damien (1978)

The Fly (1986)

From Hell (2001)
Joy Ride (2001)
28 Days Later (2002)
Wrong Turn (2003)
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
28 Weeks Later (2007)

Bride and Seed of Chucky would not be good picks. Especially Seed, horrible movie pratically unwatchable and it's already loaded with extras. Now, why aren't any of the Omen films on that list under Fox?

I think that Carrie and Silence of the Lambs are more likely to be released by Criterion. The rest I could see Scream doing.

The existing Blu-Ray releases for quite a few of those post-2000's films are already fairly comprehensive (not to mention, inexpensive). I think it might be hard to come up with enough new content that would justify a brand new release with a $27.99 - $34.99 MSRP.

One film you didn't list is the Universal / Morgan Creek co-production The Thing (2011). It's notable primarily because there may be an unreleased, pre-CGI alternate cut (aka The Pilot Version). Assuming that cut still exists in usable form or assuming the elements are available for it to be recreated, it's a fairly recent film that would probably benefit the most from a rerelease.

I actually forgot about The Omen films. We know there's a 4K restoration of the first coming, which is likely to be put out by Fox themselves. Would Scream consider CE's of 2 and 3? It would seem a little odd without the first, but you never know.

I would certainly be inclined to agree with your first point. Just to be clear again I don't want to see CE's released of all these titles - I'm just listing possibilities, however slight. I think they'll concentrate on pre-2000 MGM and Universal titles for the time being. For sure, in the case of titles which already feature abundant extras (Killer Klowns, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Misery, etc), a new transfer is a must. Scream will know this.

The Thing (2011) is an interesting shout. If they do the Carpenter version, it might well be that they consider that as well.

I would LOVE an Collector's Edition of An American Werewolf in London! Maybe they could snag An American Werewolf in Paris while they're at it. Even though it's a Disney product, do you think they would want to keep it?

I prefer Bride & Seed over 2 & 3, which is why I don't own the box set. Don't want them in my collection. At least Bride & Seed are fun in a silly sort of way. I was bored by CP 2 & 3. Tried seeing them again last to see if I'd warm up to them, nope still dislike them.

Child's Play 2 is my favorite of the Series and one of my Favorite Horror Films of all time, you might be the only person on earth that prefers Seed over it.
