Same. I never got around to buying Invasion, Road House or the Bill & Ted's films yet so it'll great to have them, & from SF no less. My wallet however will not be pleased but it'll have to get over it

I've never seen the sequel. Would love a collectors edition of the 1st though with special features.

It's been out for years in a stacked MGM Blu ray.

Oh wow had no idea. For some reason I was thinking about the arrow release. I would still prefer a SF release with reversible and original cover art.

Already got invasion for $8 from MGM. Don't need a double dip on it. Let's see more of the unreleased stuff! Session 9 was a great one. We want more!

I don't own many of the original mgm releases so these SF versions work for me. They need to go over the top in terms of CONTENT though to attract double dips.

If you don't own the original MGM releases by all means go for these SF rereleases. It's just for those of us that do own the MGM releases, I'm not seeing enough to justify $20+ to double dip. I will make an exception for ROTLD though because of it having original audio.

All of these rereleases has me concerned that the more obscure stuff they've released so far isn't selling.

I'd guess that you've probably hit the nail on the head there! some of these recent announcements feel very 'safe'. I don't blame them (from a financial point of view), it's just a shame for fans of obscure horror/cult films.

They should have monthly polls with titles people would most like to see released. I think that would work and be great.

I think another reason we're seeing so many re-releases--Shout only has deals with so many studios. MGM and Universal have supplied most of their CE's. They need to make a deal with Sony or Paramount.

Didn't Warner Archive do that recently? I know someone did. Made sense to me! At least then they have a rough idea of what interest will be.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to do a survey, but I've got to think that the vast majority of participants would end up being the folks who already discuss their wants and wishes here or on Shout's Facebook page, so they're not likely to get any surprising new data.

Sony is open to licensing, but won't allow new extras to be made for their titles. SF could license from them, but doesn't want to because they want to include extras. Perhaps they could carry over some of the extras from previous DVD or LD releases?

Either way, my belief is that I'd rather have the Sony titles released with no extras than not released at all.

That, plus a lot of people would vote and say they want the film, then when it is released they'd hold off buying it until it was on sale. Scream has said time and time again how they release titles people demand, and then no one purchases them.

These re-releases are popular titles that will probably guarantee sales.

Scream Factory has never hidden the fact that they need to release "Name Brand" titles in order to secure funding for more niche titles. The last time this debate readily was discussed was during the Mad Max/Escape from new York releases. Someone from Scream Factory, possibly cmac, stated that in order for a title like Howling II to get released, they need to put out some other projects that are guaranteed to sell well to offset the cost. The amount of fans lining up for Howling II at full retail price is probably pretty slim. I have every intention of picking it up myself, but not until I've A) Picked up a bunch of other more desired titles or B) it reaches a price point where I can no longer ignore it. (Usually around $12 shipped means instant buy) This idea can be applied to nearly any release. I'm hopeful that given the sheer amount of re-releases as of late it means that something special is brewing later on. I know better than to get excited about potential Comic Con announcements, but I can't help but wonder each year.

Just a random thought here, but what's up with Wolf Creek? Was surprised to find out there's no bluray release of this one. Is this another one locked away by Lionsgate?

You and me both. It needs a new transfer badly, and the cast isn't doing much these days so new features are doable. Plus the slipcover design possibilities.
