"Night of the Comet" is pretty high on my list as well. Always had a blast with that flick, I'm really excited to see how the features shape up for that one since most, if not all, the cast really appreciate working on that film.

I can't wait for that, also ordering Re-animator, Bride of Re-animator and Scanners too! 2013 is going to be a great year

I had high hopes for Jack's Back but found it extremely boring. A disappointment.

I can't to afford all the great Scream Factory releases but I will probably get this because I don't have it on any format. I blew the last of my Blu-ray budget on the Puppet Master Blu-ray box set.

About 2 years back Wingnut films announced plans to restore Bad Taste/Meet the Feebles/Braindead and were looking to shop the rights to a new US distributor. I don't know what ever happened with that (if anything) but they would make good titles for Shout.

Maybe these are the mystery titles Synapse talked about. We seriously need killer SE's of PJ's early masterpieces completely remastered on Blu. And please, call it "Braindead", not Dead Alive . Always thought that was a silly title.

Speaking of Synapse, some people are convinced they've acquired more Hammer titles, I believe otherwise. Don May seemed pretty excited judging by the way he worded the hint but something tells me he's not excited about more Hammer. The 2 titles he's released so far, Vampire Circus and Twins of Evil, were each released about a year apart, which tells me they weren't hot sellers. If they were, there wouldn't have been such a long gap between releases. And wasn't there a third Hammer release? Where is that one? No, it's gotta be something else. Another possibility are U.S. counterparts of Second Sight's upcoming slate: Scanners, Re-Animator Bride of Reanimator and Society. This makes the most sense since Synapse and another UK label, Arrow, have been head-to-head with the same titles for a couple of years now. Second Sight may have taken Arrow's place as Synapse's new headache. Something to think about.

Reanimator was just released by Image.

I was also under the impression that Lionsgate bought the US rights to the Hammer films catalog earlier this year and as existing rights expire, titles would revert to Lionsgate and (in theory) films would be released in new editions as part of the Hammer restoration project. Still a bit fuzzy on the details of this.

I looked at Synapse's catalog on Amazon and I have never heard of most of their stuff. Whatever acquisition he's hinting at is probably going to be a letdown for everyone that seems to be hoping for big titles along the lines of Scanners/Dawn of the Dead/Braindead as it's probably something much more obscure (but big in comparison to what Synapse typically acquires)

I highly doubt that Synapse has the kind of cash to outbid Shout Factory--referring to Scanners. Re-Animator, we already know that Image has it in the US. Bride of Re-Animator--I believe it's still with Lionsgate. That leaves Society...perhaps Synapse did pick this one up (since the Anchor Bay dvd has been OOP for a while now).

My money is on Dawn of the Dead, for Synapse. Even that though, seems like a bit of a stretch.

Hands of the Ripper was the 3rd Hammer title and that will be out in 2013 hopefully.
Don said his release was *giant* so take the word into context
Is Society a Giant ?
How about Necronomicon ?
I had thought Dawn of the Dead, or maybe even Night of the Living Dead...
It still could be Hammer titles..

No they had the rights to all three at the same time and Countess Dracula later...the gap at least for Twins of Evil was an issue with the bonus material and Don had to wait..something along those lines...
Hands of the Ripper I have no idea why its taken this long other than maybe they did other stuff instead

Do you think that Scream!'s art is any better?

At least Second Sight's artwork is actually painted artwork and not some comic book scribble.

Grindhouse releasing hasn't put anything out since 2009 and Sage Stallone who ran the label died earlier this year. I' m sure the label will either get sold or fold. Those are some big titles (The Beyond/Pieces/Cannibal Holocaust) that seem like they would complement Synapse's existing library. Maybe Grindhouse Releasing still exists in some state of limbo but those films are going to find new homes sooner than later. I wouldn't be surprised if Synapse bought the company or made some kind of arrangement to handle distribution on behalf of Stallone's estate. Those seem more likely to me than Dawn of the Dead, or the early Peter Jackson/David Cronenberg films.

Grindhouse Releasing had three owners, Sage Stallone was one and the others are Bob Murawski and David Szulkin. The company isn't in limbo at all, they just don't release anything anymore (the last one being Vic the short film of Sage Stallone) because of the high piracy problem and do theatre presentation.

Yes, I do. I have really liked the artwork on Scream Factory, especially They Live, Halloween 2, and Halloween 3. All of which were fantastic.

Sadly no. This is the artwork for Society:

Yep its really bad.

And this is the artwork for From Beyond:

Apparently the artist has an eyeball fetish and man those characters looks absolutely zero like the ones in the films. Its like they just made up stuff for the covers.
