I'm not into slips, but I got Darkman and Ginger Snaps with slips and The Howling without. Appreciate the sale, SF!

I just ordered some older Scream Factory titles that I've been procrastinating on for a long while from Amazon, since the prices were right...

Evilspeak
The Beast Within
X-Ray/Schizoid

I also ordered the Blue Underground Blu-ray of The Nesting (1981) to get the order up to free shipping status.

I haven't read much about these here, so any feedback on these movies would be welcome. The one that I'm the most knowledgeable about is The Beast Within, since it was a mainstay at a local drive-in during my childhood when it came out in theaters, but I've never been able to see it. (I just remember envying everyone at my school who did see it.)

Evilspeak, Schizoid, and The Nesting are mentions in Stephen Thrower's Nightmare USA, so I was compelled to check them out partly for that reason as well.

Sort of OOT, but something for fans of Full Circle / The Haunting of Julia (1977)... it's on iTunes right now! And in HD! The print they have used has a different (red) title card and is a bit rougher than Sony Channel one (although theirs was much more softer), but it still looks very nice and I cannot be more excited since I have been searching for descent copy for many years It's like a dream come true (but I still wish for its Blu-ray release)...

The beast within was a pleasent surprise for me, I knew nothing about it going into it and found it to be a solid but not great werewolf movie (although if I'm remembering correctly he might not exactly be a werewolf). I loved the special effects.

Evilspeak has been a favorite of mine since I bought a bootleg DVD a number of years ago. Clint Howard is great. i love the ending and all the funny outdated computer stuff.

Both evil speak and the beast within belong in any horror fans collection. The nesting was unwatchable for me. I let really couldn't finish it I thought it was that bad.

The Nesting is a decent haunted house film. Not the best by no means but a good watch. Finished my order off with it myself for free shipping.

Any of yaw interested wanting to trade my copy of Shocker has the slip with it.

I liked THE NESTING... it was a fun little B movie.

The scene where the guy chases the main female lead and shouts and rants at her is (unintentionally) hilarious and had me laughing out loud. On the positive side it offers some good atmosphere and a creepy setting.

EVILSPEAK is basically a rip-off of CARRIE set in a military school with a male lead. It has a scene that will upset dog lovers so be warned!
The ending is awesome!!

THE BEAST WITHIN is also a fun B-movie marred a bit by being very crude and sometimes downright offensive (rape)... it has over the top effects and a great cast of character actors..

It's great to read others' thoughts on those films.

My recent decision to purchase Blu-rays of movies that I read about in Stephen Thrower's Nightmare USA book is going to put me in the poor house if I'm not careful, but I've chosen wisely so far, based on the ones that I've been watching.

I also placed an order for Wes Craven's original 1972 film, The Last House on the Left, since it's less than $10 now, and I've had a hankering to revisit it.

When I watched that original version of The Last House on the Left on VHS many years ago, I was rather horrified and surprised, because the movie was too mean-spirited for my tastes (...and, looking at my collection, that speaks volumes about the story). I'm curious to see if my opinion changes now that I'm in my 40s. I'm sure that I'll still be horrified, because that's the reaction that the movie is supposed to conjure, but I'll also probably be more attuned to the "drive-in/grindhouse" tendencies of the film.

I have most of the sale titles, except for Shocker and possibly Ginger Snaps. If anyone is looking to unload their blind buy, send me a pm. I will give you $13 shipped for it if you didn't like it.

random Scream question...

Is there any rhyme or reason why some Scream releases show up with Viva Elite cases and some with Vortex. I thought I read, or maybe just assumed, they came with Vivas on the first printing and some ended up with Vortex cases on 2nd prints.

The reason I ask is my copy of Terror Train ended up with a slipcover (which I thought was odd given how old it is), but it had a Vortex case.

Just seemed interesting.

It's probably just a matter of what their manufacturer had available at the time. I'm pretty sure there is no "1st pressing / subsequent pressing" workflow involved, as I've received a few Scream Factory Blu-Rays in Vortex cases on their release date.

This is speculation but what do you think SF will announce as their big titles for the fall?

i wish they would release some that havent progress past VHS.

For instance i been waiting years and years for someone to release "The Supernatuals" that came out in 1986.

There never been a blu ray release and the only DVD release was almost 2 decades ago in early 2000s in germany which mean it region locked.

I think it would be peculiar of Scream to release another Child's Play set while there's one on the market. I think they'll go the individual collector editions route.

I can't look past the Legion cut of Exorcist III and more CE's of previously released MGM and Universal titles (Child's Play, and hopefully Misery and Carrie). That said, a CE of Dead Ringers (a Morgan Creek title) would be quite the coup, providing they can beat Criterion to the punch. Phantasm is another possibility.
