Of course we all want to see titles that haven't been release yet. That was sort of the whole purpose of Scream Factory to begin with, but I don't mind these releases either as long as they're going to be upgrades.
I don't mean this to be rude, I'm just genuinely curious.... are you actually saying that you would buy an entire new boxed set of the Chucky movies just because the current set has "plain" packaging?

Depends on what's available. In the case of Child's Play 2 and Child's Play 3, there there are alternate cuts with additional footage (and an alternate ending for 2) in existence that have no previous release on DVD or Blu-Ray. I would consider those to be significant omissions from the box.

I agree it's a bummer, but it's realistic to expect when Shout only has deals in place with MGM, Fox, and Universal. There's only so many titles available to license from their libraries.

I would definitely like to see them land a deal with Sony and/or Paramount--then we might finally get CE's of Candyman and April Fool's Day '86.

Speaking of Fox, I wonder why The Fly II (1989) remains unreleased? I hope Shout has that one up their sleeve.

Got my 4 titles I ordered from Amazon today, Darkman, Dolls, and Pumpkin Head all came with slips. The Howling was the only one that didn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if that wound up with Kino as part of their current deal with Fox.

If The Fly II and Warning Sign do wind up with Kino, I think it's unlikely Scream will go back in for another deal with them, unless they wish to release existing Fox titles as CE's.

Child's Play 2 & 3 in the Box set are more or less film only releases... So for those titles the following would be a given...

Child's Play 2:
-2-3 Commentary tracks
-Alternate TV Cut (possibly in HD)
-Trailers
-Tv Promo's
-Any Behind the Scene footage available for the Doll's creation for part 2
-Effects/prop footage detailing how scenes were completed in the film.
-Cast interviews
-A look at the lasting legacy of Child's Play 2.
-A look at the Child's Play legacy in the VHS era
-Production Stills
-Old USA Network/TNT Network promo's when they used to run parts 1-3 as marathons in the 90's.
-More.

Child's Play 3:
-2-3 Commentary tracks
-Alternate TV Cut (possibly in HD)
-Trailers
-Tv Promo's
-Any Behind the Scene footage available for the Doll's creation for part 3
-Effects/prop footage detailing how scenes were completed in the film.
-Cast interviews
-A look at the lasting legacy of Child's Play 3.
-A look at the Marketability of Child's Play through merchandise over the years.
-Production Stills
-Old USA Network/TNT Network promo's when they used to run parts 1-3 as marathons in the 90's.
-More.

The Child's Play franchise is one of the few like Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th that could benefit from a feature length Documentary ala Never Sleep Again and Crystal Lake memories... These titles practically put themselves together as solid collectors editions. If I have to re-buy part one to get the other two so be it, but at the least parts 2 and 3 deserve their own releases.

In my mind if all titles are on the table, Shout factory saw what was available to them and figured why the hell not? These are easy sellers and will garner a nice amount of money to acquire future lesser known titles.

Do I want titles like Sorority House Massacre II, Tales from the Hood, and Slumber Party Massacre 2/3 over these? Of course! But if I'm given the option for a Halloween collection inspired complete set with enough extras to differentiate it from the current set, I'm of course going to jump on it.

Ok I'll back down on this one...I have to admit I can't stand the Chucky series so my bias is showing...in fact it's probably my least favorite franchise of the lot....I'll take the Wishmaster and Leprechaun series over it even. So there I said it...lol. So for me the box set seems sufficient but I get it, if your a real fan you gotta have it. It's just frustrating to see this stuff come out double and triple dipping when stuff sits in Lionsgates vaults or any of the other studios that are hording various horror titles. So enjoy I guess.

Yes I most likely would. I love the franchise, always have since I was a kid. I have no doubt that SF would make a way better box set. And besides I can always get rid of the one I have for a new one. It's not a big deal.

While I would buy Child's Play one, I am not interested in any sequels.

I think its a shame Halloween hasn't had a massive/all out documentary like Nightmare/Friday have.

Is Scream's release of "People under the stairs" much better than the Universal blu release?

Not to sound condescending, but c'mon... I'm all for special editions of the CHILD'S PLAY sequels and would snap 'em up in a heartbeat, but let's not kid ourselves about their actual worth.

I just ordered Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 from the sale, both backordered at the moment but I don't mind the wait. I hope they still come with slipcovers. I'm thinking about picking up Escape from New York as well but I'm undecided.

Oh and if I may weigh in on the Child's Play debate, I'm a huge fan of the series but don't own any of those films on BD. Child's Play 2 and 3 loaded with special features would be a no-brainer day one purchase for me, and I'd definitely pick up the original if they put it out.

Yeah, and considering the current sale, I'd say the Scream release is definitely worth the extra $3 or so.

Surprisingly, Childs Play 2 was a pretty good sequel. Child's Play 3? Ehh....it got really lame at some parts, but I will admit the ending the carnival was effing awesome.
