I apologize if this has already been discussed but just curious if the original Dawn of the Dead has any hope of a Scream Collectors blu? I know there is an Anchor Bay blu already out but I haven't seen it so can't comment on the quality.

Plus my OCD would like them both to be Scream versions lol

Currently trying to wrap my head around which version of the original Night of the Living Dead blu to buy. A lot of the comments are negative on both editions but that movie is so classic and amazing I have to buy one of them until if/when its ever officially released.

Nope, Richard Rubenstein owns the rights and wants an absurd amount of money to license it out and has scared off pretty much every label.
ONE day someone will figure it out though!

A couple of interesting tidbits from the podcast.

They're doing a new transfer for Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

There are 8-9 unannounced CE planned for later this year. Some really big ones; some surprises too.

At this point, what is left that they could reasonably get that would be "really big"? The first three Child's Play films?

I consider myself thoroughly teased!
Very interested to hear more!

Exorcist III for sure. I would assume Criterion would nab Carrie? And is The Thing just speculation due to the continuing release of Universal titles?

Maybe. The majority of them will probably be MGM and Universal re-releases. Speaking of new to BD potential releases, something like The Exorcist III: DC, Dead Ringers, Slither are (highly) likely too.

SF also debunked the rumor about Fright Night II being in control of the producer. It's still in limbo in the US.

I wonder if an Extended Cut of WATERWORLD would qualify as one of the surprise titles. Or a CE of STICK. Can't wait to hear more.

Funny how different insiders say conflicting information. One person from another label said it was with the producer..

I think Criterion is working on Cat People and possibly other Lewton titles (and other Warner titles ) , so I think Carrie would be ripe for SF..

Id call Godzilla 1985 major, in fact it might actually be available. Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla , and other Kaiju films would be major..

Since The House That Dripped Blood is with their streaming service, maybe they could eventually get blu ray rights for it ? that would be a welcome surprise

Val Lewton titles not being on Blu ray yet is a serious cinematic crime. I need to see Cat People in HD at some point in my life!

I would hope Dead Ringers winds up with Criterion again. Same for Carrie.

Legion/Exorcist III and Child's Play 1-3 are almost a given. Would love to see another deal with an indie rights holder (Peter Jackson/WingNut). Slither and Tales from the Hood are often denied, but I believe that it's only a matter of time.

Few more interesting bits:

- They were pretty negative about the prospect of more foreign horror; ditto Slumber Party Massacre 2 and 3, since the first sold quite poorly

- Still no inroads with Warner or Lionsgate

- No Clownhouse (ever), Blood Beach, Alligator, The Keep, Fright Night Part 2, Fade to Black, Hell Night, Martin, Dawn of the Dead (but they’ll keep trying)

- Strong extras for Session 9

- Lot of extras for Bad Moon; fans should be very happy

- Wanted to double feature Sssssss and Boy Who Cried Werewolf, but couldn’t

- Jeff mentions Carrie as a dream release; ‘a dream to get’ (which would apparently suggest they don't have it?)

- 'Love to get our hooks into Cronenberg, that would be really good' (which would apparently suggest they don't have Dead Ringers?)

And a big one:

- When asked about the Twilight Time model, they responded that they would have their own limited edition experiment later this year, with about 5 titles, sold exclusively on Shout's site. I think these will be Scream titles, but it wasn't exactly clear. They will be titles in their library with existing HD masters. They'll be announced in June/July.

I'm guessing these will be titles that they previously released on DVD?

Slumber Party Massacre sold poorly?!

That is insane! With such a great and classic title that most people recognize, the fact it is a slasher, and the T&A quotient, I would think it would be a bigger title for Scream.
