I'm still waiting on Lord of Illusions from the Amazon sale. I understand that it was temporarily out of stock but this was the one I was most excited for! Oh well haha still a great deal. As long as I eventually get it.

Impulse was released on DVD by Anchor Bay in 99 and by MGM in 2003. MGM's site lists the film as one of their titles: http://www.mgm.com/#/our-titles/944/Impulse |

It was indeed released on DVD by MGM, but apparently licenced from ABC, like other titles (Hell in the Pacific, The Last Valley, Too Late the Hero, the Kolchak films, etc). As I understand, these titles have reverted to ABC (so Disney) now.
That MGM site seems to list a number of titles to which they no longer have access, or may only have broadcast rights for. Last edited by BarnDoor; 05-29-2016 at 08:51 PM. |

I'm a huge John Carpenter fan and also a fan of the original Village of the Damned. I never saw this movie until tonight. After watching it, I thought it was decent. Not great by any means but also not bad. I liked the atmosphere of the town. There were several good homages to the 1960 original. It was great to see Christopher Reeves again. Still makes me sad what happened to him. It's especially touching watching this because this movie came out in late April of 1995 and his riding accident was one month later.
Overall, I think the picture quality looked very good. Once again, Scream/Shout delivered awesome extras. This is actually the reason I blind bought this movie. I always love Sean Clark's Horrors Hallowed Grounds extras. Perfect blend of horror history with also a little humor thrown in. There's also a newly filmed almost 50 minute retrospective on the making of the film with Carpenter today and also 4 of the ( then) child actors now all about 30 years old. What everyone has to say about the film is interesting. Even the old EPK stuff they throw in is good, with 1994/1995 interviews with Carpenter and Christopher Reeves and Mark Hamill. Overall, the movie is decent. If you're a Carpenter fanatic or love Scream extras ( they're the only studio other than Criterion that makes quality Blu-ray extras it seems like any more), then I recommend it. |
