I wouldn't hold my breath. I can't think of a company, other than Synapse, that has been able to license/sublicense titles from Echo Bridge.

Well, correct that all Collectors Editions have slips...also some of their other releases have slips too...the ones I have I can confirm are: The Hallow, Animal and Hellions. I think it depends on who they partnered with. Two with IFC and one with Chiller.

Most of us have speculated that Music clearance issues could be what's holding up a release, but that's just a guess. It's one of my most wanted titles right now, so hopefully we see it announced.
Thanks HBK (I'm assuming you're a Stephanie McMahon husband fan?)...

I would snap this film up in a heartbeat; so many creepy sequences, from the slave voodoo dolls that come alive to Williams III screaming "WELCOME TO HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL!!!!!"

The director himself has stated in a quote posted quite a few pages back that he's been unable to locate suitable elements for an HD transfer. So unless that's changed, Tales from the Hood is unfortunately not very likely (which is too bad...LOVE that movie!).

If Scream can get The Thing, I'd say American Werewolf in London is now a distinct possibility. Child's Play 2 and 3 CE's are surely dead certs to go along with the CE of Child's Play, and the later Chucky films might follow down the line. I think Tremors was ruled out recently. Would they double-dip on Firestarter? I suppose they could given that the current release is barebones. I believe they said they'd only do Dracula (1979) if they could offer a version with the original colour timing. The Frighteners is another candidate, but, transfer aside, I really don't see how they could improve on the existing release. Otherwise there's the likes of End of Days (unlikely), Red Dragon, Dawn of the Dead (2004), Land of the Dead and Dead Silence.

The Jaws sequels and The Burbs are surely off the table for now, but a year or two down the line, who knows?

Fantastic news re The Thing!!! Here's hoping Universal let's them do a new transfer. It's a tentpole acquisition for Scream Factory and going by other recent new transfers they've done (TCM 2 for instance) I'd day it's a given. Regardless, it's a great announcement.

Would love just a big Carpenter set with all of their releases (something similar to the Halloween LE Collection in terms of size). Imagine it: Assault on Precinct 13, Escape from NY, The Thing, Prince of Darkness, They Live, Body Bags, & Village of the Damned in one set. Could be perfection. I'd buy it instantly, as I don't own any of SF's Carpenter releases on Blu.

Don't forget The Fog! Who knows if such a thing is possible. I could see something like a limited edition set - perhaps 2000 size - if they do decide to do it.

I woke up today and the first thing I saw on Facebook was their announcement of The Thing (and I was currently wearing my The Thing t shirt) so I've officially started my day off amazingly!

Great Hearing about The Thing being released and as a CE, and also the results of the polls

The Thing Ranked 5th with 118 Votes,

that's cool, hope Scream can prove that sub-licensing is the way to go, come on Warner, Lionsgate and other companies you are sitting on gold mines

While I'm a fan of the film, why is Scream reissuing another Thing release? Was there something wrong with Universal's Blu-ray?

This seems like a proverbial "milking of the cow" tactic; aren't there other titles Scream could put its efforts towards gaining the rights to and releasing for fans...I mean titles that never saw the light of day yet? A good example was when the studio released the little Renny Harlin thriller Prison from 1988...as a Blu-ray/DVD combo, to boot!

For the record, I never saw Universal's Thing Blu-ray; I actually still own the studio's non-anamorphic Collector's Edition DVD...

I own the BD of The Thing and can tell you without a shred of doubt.... This movie needed Scream Factory. Picture Quality was only decent with a dated master... The awesome special features from the DVD are not there except for the documentary.... But it's in PiP form(bullshit)... And it has the commentary which is edited down from the original commentary.

Trust me, it needs it.
