Many people criticize the transfers when they aren't better than existing ones. To dismiss someone wanting a package that includes extra information about the movie or commentaries really doesn't make a lot of sense. If you don't care about extras that is fine, but those who do are just as much a fan of the movies of those who only care about the transfer.

Waxwork 1 and 2 are with Lionsgate.. and it seems that they are releasing some titles.. the future looks really interesting, should be fun to see what else they are planning besides Blood Diner and Chopping Mall

Interesting; though I was referring to the Double Feature DVD, which was marketed and channeled by Artisan (it was originally a Vestron Video product)...

Good to know Lionsgate has gained rights, though!

Not every Scream transfer was "crappy". Just a few of them, which got a lot of press. Many of their transfers have been excellent. Your post screams "hater" and a hater's opinion will never be given respect unless you can give an objective point of view. For example, admitting there's many great transfers from Scream. Obviously you will never attest to that.

I personally couldn't care less about slips. I don't get the allure. But I also don't question other people's passions as I know several people who don't get my love of blu-rays. If people love slips, why do you care? How does it affect your life at all?

Now extras I'm all over due to my passion & experience in filmmaking. But of course the film itself is the #1 priority, which is why I still buy bare-bones blus.

It may be good to know, but it's not good. Lionsgate is the worst at releasing catalog titles. I loathe Lionsgate as much as the dentist.

Now that I'm thinkin' about it, I believe I recall reading somewhere about Lionsgate taking over Artisan titles/properties...

Funny; I still own the Running Man Special Edition DVD (with a full and widescreen version of the film on two separate discs) as put forth by Artisan and still think the widescreen transfer looks good...

Well, plenty of people say it could be better, but accept what is the best thing available. Especially when you are dealing with titles that weren't filmed on the best stock and taken care of as well as other movies. Would you rather a fan just not buy a movie they love because they wish that a transfer would come along that is better?

And really what this boils down to here is you think your preference makes you more of a movie fan than another person. What you care about is all about transfer and none about the extras. Other people might care more about extras than transfers as long as the transfer is of an acceptable quality. They are both centered around the movie. What makes one person's preference more worthy than another's?

I have a good deal of experience with their DVD releases, not so much on the Blu-ray front; what makes them so bad in terms of catalog releases? Lack of features? Subpar audio mixes/video transfers? Poor packaging? All of the above, lol?

The last one I bought, The Serpent and the Rainbow, has an excellent transfer, for instance. You don't know what you're talking about.

But what is "acceptable quality"? Overprocessed crap like Village of the Damned?

The lack of catalog releases at all is what makes them terrible. They've been sitting on a wealth of titles & have refused to release or license any of them out. Hopefully that's about to change if they officially announce Chopping Mall.

What happened with Village of the Damned? I was considering trading up my Universal DVD for the Blu-ray; did Scream drop the ball?
