FYI: Deluxe Edition of the Thing is now sold out. It's now Standard Collectors edition or nothing from this point on.

Preordered the standard it still comes with a poster and slip. Along with it ordered The Nest.

Any more news on a Phantasm set?

The nest was fun. Another great Lisa Langlois classic

Holy eff. I didn't know she was in class of 84. I'll have to watch that when I get home this morning.

Special features look great, excited to see the new transfer approved by Dean. And I love the cover art.
The shipping is sort of wonky, they come folded up in cardboard envelopes, that are unsealed, inside a larger padded envelope that has the Blu in it. Mine weren't damaged (For Jeepers 1&2) but I can see how they easily could have been.

The standard edition will be sold everywhere that SF titles are normally sold.

This is not me being negative or upset or anything but curious. I know SCREAM said announcements would be made for titles the beginning of June. I have seen 2, right? THE THING and the other METAL one. Am I missing something? Have they said if there are more or will I just need to wait until comic con?

What will I miss from not getting the Deluxe edition?

3 Weeks early delivery, The purple artwork poster and extra Purple artwork Slip cover. Nothing vital. If you purchase the standard edition from Shout factory you'll get the Blue Floating heads slip cover, poster, and delivery 2 weeks early. If you order anywhere else you won't get the early delivery but will likely save a few dollars.

Me personally, I like The Thing and all, but not enough that I feel the need to double dip at this time. I'll be waiting for a sale sometime down the line before I grab it. With the Return of the Living Dead Deluxe edition Shipping was free as well which made for a great deal, with The Thing Free shipping was not included. This apparently wasn't important however as the deluxe editions sold out in under 12 hours. I fully expect every collectors edition going forward to offer this same type of option.

The only thing Ive heard about the Phantasm movies is that they with Don Coscarelli who wanted Image Entertainment to release them domestically, while Arrow is strongly rumored to have them, whether its Region A, B or both is another story.

The hold up for the set is Phantasm II which Shout has the rights to - it's a Universal title but there are probably some complications to it that we know nothing about. Getting Part II is crucial if they want to do a whole set..

There might be one or two more for September, we don't know at this stage. 3 would be a light month by Scream's standards, especially given that one of those titles would be delayed from August. May and June only saw 3 releases, but I think they were originally supposed to have more, and titles got delayed. Plus September is a bigger window given its proximity to Halloween. If there are more September titles, I guess we'd hear something over the next couple of days. If Friday passes and no further announcements, I think 3 is all we're getting.

I'm aware there's also the modern stuff, but that's always the case. Sometimes you'll get 5 retro titles plus 2-3 modern titles on top.

If anyone didn't get it in the sale, I ordered Terror Train on Monday (its only $14) from Amazon and it came today with slip.

Re The Thing: I do think I enjoyed the film but definitely not enough to have ordered the limited edition, and probably not enough to get it until some super sale occurs like the one Amazon just had. $12-$15 is probably my limit for a movie like that.

Thanks - gonna order this. Is it me or are a lot of these prices down on Amazon (even if they aren't showing as marked down)?

Sleepaway Camp for $15, The Funhouse for $14 ect. - not bad at all

People under the stairs is still back ordered on Amazon. Had to sign something on the store still saying I wanted it when it came in stock. Wondering if I should transition to the Universal version.
