Hey Scream, it's my birthday, sadly I have a such busy day, and I was hoping to watch a bunch of Blu-Rays of Scream Factory, but hopefully I can do it all over the next few days, anyways a gift for me would be to vote on the company polls, so share this and show your love for Scream/Shout,

and yes a stupid wish, but I don't mind,

The Exorcist III: DC coming in October.

Quote:
***NEW TITLE ANNOUCEMENT***
You’ve heard the rumors for months…and they’re all true! William Peter Blatty’s cult favorite THE EXORCIST III will be bearing its cross on a 2-disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray set from us on October 25th.
Extras (of which there are tons of) are underway and will be announced at a date in Late Summer / Early Fall. The newly-designed front-facing artwork you see here is final (not pictured is the reverse wrap image which will showcase the original theatrical poster art.) Early pre-order now directly from us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/the-e...ector-s… and receive a free 18" x 24" poster of the new art (while supplies last) plus early shipping!
We know that the biggest question you might have is: Will there be a “Director’s Cut” of the film? The answer is yes—but with some caveats. We are working on putting together a version that will be close to Blatty’s original script using a mixture of various film and video tape sources that we have been provided with. This is still a work in progress and we will update you with more details at the time we announce the full list of bonus materials.

Well that's one title eliminated from the SDCC title predictions, which is why Ill wait until that week to make some guesses.
Glad they finally announced it !

Not buying this just for extras. I have hundreds of movies in my "to watch" pile. Don't have time for extras. If I recall, the release that was in the anthology set I got wasn't the greatest for this one. I'd consider a double dip if they make it worth my while with audio video.

so now that SF has so many re-release announcements out of the way, any chance we get some actual first time on BD releases again soon?

Well that's disappointing. I'm happy to see the film in the Scream lineup, but the fact that the directors cut is going to be hobbled together and isn't an original print moves this from a day one buy to more of a wait and see title. Hopefully the video footage is minimal and at worst the film works in the same fashion as Silent Night Deadly Night.

Think they probably just changed the URL. This link should work https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...ctor-s-edition

I've never seen The Exorcist III, not sure I'll order it but I am a bit curious now.

Regardless of how this turns out - and however it does, I doubt we'll ever see better - you really have to give Scream tremendous credit for their instrumental role in giving us official, stacked releases of three of the most sought-after alternate/longer cuts in the horror genre (Exorcist III, Nightbreed, and Halloween 6).

I definitely agree with you on all accounts. I'm hopeful that the Directors cut can be assembled well, but the fact that it wasn't the major talking point in the announcement is what has lead me to lower my expectations substantially as it hints to the fact that it's being included as an extra (in the same fashion as the ROTLD workprint) and less as it's own major release (Like Nightbreed or Halloween 6 for instance). I do think/hope that it will utilize as much HD footage as possible, so it should be far more watchable than the ROTLD workprint, however I'm more concerned that they won't be able to locate full scenes and what we'll end up with instead is a Fan edit styled edition similar to what people have attempted on Hellraiser Bloodline.

I'm picturing it as something akin to Scream's recent MANHUNTER release, which included both the theatrical cut and a separate, piecemeal Director's Cut which utilized the HD theatrical master supplemented with tape-based material.

Until WB/Lionsgate/Paramount smells the coffee, get used to rereleases.

Since the first release looked bad, a Young Guns 1/2 double feature from SF would be welcome.

I would be ok with it if they release them in separate cases, like they did with the Amityville films (speaking of that BBY has a new pre order for a 4 disc set coming up, but I don't know if it is an import, a reissue or the remainder Amityville films).

I wanted Bill & Ted to have their own cases or a PDF link from Shout! providing separate printable covers.

Really wish they would smell it and drink it already, missing out on so many other titles!

Hmm. I'm a little frustrated that I got The Exorcist Anthology set instead of the individual releases, because I'd like to have them all in order on my shelf.

Aside from that small annoyance, I'm excited for this! Especially since the Director's Cut is being included (but I'll wait and see before judging how nice of a presentation that'll be).

So, regarding rights, does Morgan Creek outright own Exorcist III now? Or just the alternate cut? What about the other sequels, could they see Scream Factory releases too?

They outright own 3, and I believe the prequels as well. The first two are flat WB.

Dominion wasn't available outside of the box set, though I suspect Scream Factory will eventually rerelease it along with The Beginning.
