We don't know yet, but by the time you're actually able to order it I imagine we will have a better idea. Surely they'll be aware of the draw of the Spanish version, but then they did state AIP, and it might be that they only have access to that version.

If SF does a new transfer it will already be a better release

Solid set of announcements this year! Grabbing ALL of these

Waiting for that guy who always says 'meh', no matter how great an upcoming release announcement is.

If you are a horror movie fan and you can't find at least one movie in that epic list to be excited about, then I'm not sure what to say!

It's kind of weird why they don't also release the original Poltergeist with extras. Equaling puzzling is choosing to release Child's Play which already has many extras but not 2 and 3 that lack extra features.

Jeez, give it a rest. We get it - you don't like the Poltergeist sequels. Can you let those of us that do like them enjoy the announcement? Are you secretly hoping if you complain enough that SF will change their minds? Move on.

The original is with Warner Bros, as it's a MGM film before 1983. Speaking of which, it's time we have a new disc be released. And when I mean a new disc, I don't mean the disc with a goddamn T-shirt!

A superb slate - very pleased to see so many 70's titles included! No interest in the Slumber sequels (which are the only true stinkers in the bunch, other than Poltergeist III), but will happily snatch up every single other one (as long as Black Christmas and Dreamscape get new transfers), except for Rabid, which I already have the Arrow steelbook of. This may be the most eclectic lineup they've ever announced. Truly something for everyone!

I remain cautiously optimistic. Death Becomes Her was announced last year and the resulting product wasn't as good as it could've been.

Re: the Poltergeist sequels, I'd be surprised if Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams sit down for new interviews at this point. Nancy Allen, maybe. And the FX team. What would be cool is if they can license the E! True Hollywood Story, but I doubt it, especially since it focuses on all three movies including the Spielberg/Hooper/who directed what? controversy.

For those upset about the number of re-releases, the good news is that after the Poltergeist announcements there are now only 7 MGM titles I can think of that Scream might pursue:

Last House on the Left (1972)
Teen Wolf (1985)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Misery (1990)
Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Species (1995)
Hannibal (2001)

Of course, there are considerably more Universal titles, but MGM seem more willing to play ball. I'd say three of these in particular are quite likely (Killer Klowns, Misery and Species). But last night was refreshing as I was expecting considerably more re-releases to be announced. For those who complain, maybe the great sales on the site exclusives of Return of the Living Dead, Carrie and The Thing have enabled Scream to pursue deals for the likes of Willard and Ben, and Bubba Ho-Tep?

It will be interesting to see what kind of special features the Poltergeist sequels will get.

Guesstimate for Poltergeist II:

Tribute to Heather O'Rourke Part 1
Tribute to Will Sampson
Tribute to Zelda Rubenstien Part 1
Tribute to Julian Beck
Cast retrospective with Oliver Robins (Robbie Freeling)
JoBeth Williams (Diane Freeling) Maybe?
Craig T Nelson (Steve Freeling) Long Shot.....

Poltergeist III:

Mirror, Mirror - Special Effects
Tribute to Heather O'Rourke Part 2
Tribute to Zelda Rubenstien Part 2
Cast retrospective with Kipley Wentz (Scott)
Long shots or no shows:
Tom Skerritt, Nancy Allen and Lara Flynn Boyle

I hope they have a feature about the original ending to Poltergeist 3. There's so much conflicting reports in regards to what was actually shot before Heather passed away. Hoping some footage can be unearthed!

I love Bubba Ho-Tep. I have the Anchor Bay release. Do you think there will be any differences with the Scream factory release?

Dreamscape was with Image
Rabid was not with LG, it was one of the old New Concorde releases .. wherever they got it from Arrow acquired it from the same place (possibly)

Not a single title from Universal.

I believe they got Rabid and Black Christmas from the same rightholders.

Yes, but who did Image license it from? Dreamscape wasn't a New World title as far as I know. I think whoever owns the copyright it might be worth looking at what else they own - maybe they have some other good titles up for grabs. Unless, of course, Dreamscape was one of those one-off independent acquisitions. I nearly bought the German steelbook but glad I held off even though it looked great (the artwork that is).

Could be nothing, but on the back of the old Image Blu-ray of Dreamscape I noticed a logo for Westchester Films:

http://www.westchesterfilmsinc.com/

Didn't Shout acquire these guys, or at least the rights to distribute their catalogue digitally? Their titles include other Shout acquisitions like A Boy and His Dog, Fear City and Death Watch.

I've got the Australian disc but admittedly, I'd love a release of Last House by either Arrow or Scream.
