I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong, though, and would plunk down the cash ASAP.
That would be outstanding. I fully believe the original ending was shot and sits in a vault somewhere. (or perhaps a storage box on a shelf).

The Original Ending

This is also very interesting...

Mystery of the Revised Ending.

I never knew about a controversy over the ending and just spent the last several minutes reading about it. The photos do indeed make it look like the original ending was shot, but the director absolutely insists that it wasn't. Very odd. Perhaps the heavy toll of Heather's death just makes him not want to acknowledge it for some reason?

Willard and Ben are day-one for me. So is Dead Ringers, hallelujah!!

Might have to double-dip on Rabid from what I'm reading about Arrow's release. (My copy's part of an order from Arrow's big sale that's still "at warehouse." )

Not to mention that the movie is a turd.

A. Poltergeist 2 and 3 is already available on Blu-Ray as a double feature. SF probably figured doing Collector's Editions would work out better sales wise for them. See the Jeepers Creepers films for another example.

B. I'd certainly love to see Clownhouse get a Blu-Ray release as well, but realistically, it's not going to happen any time soon. The controversy behind it (along with the legal threats that came up when MGM tried to release it) have likely scared off most distributors from revisiting that title for a while.

The first film is with Warner Bros, and while they have opened the door a crack with their formerly no-licensing policy, those examples are still very much the exception to the norm...

I don't know if any Scream/Shout Factory reps read this thread, but I have a suggestion from the top spot on my wishlist. Since they've been releasing quite a lot of MGM titles, I would love to see Paradise (1982) with Phoebe Cates & Willie Aames get the blu ray treatment. If you're a Phoebe Cates fan, this is an absolute must see. I guess MGM still owns the rights, since they released it on VHS back in the 90s and it hasn't been seen since. Definitely time for a proper release.

I asked about it on the Kino Lorber Studio Classics thread, and MisterLime said it's with Lionsgate.

I recently bought (like 4 days ago) the Slumber Party Massacre DVD Collection since I figured 2 and 3 didn't have the elements to go Blu. If we need blu upgrades, is there any other DVDs you want me to buy? Hahaha

The house that screamed is my favorite announcement of the bunch. Hoping for the Spanish version to be included.

Yes, they haven renewed or something. Theyre busy at the convention .. It will be back up within a few days Id guess

Meanwhile i cant log into Import CDs, TCM , movies unlimited or Deep Discount because the word *LOGIN* is located where you type your first name for registered users, not on the left side of the screen where existing users can log in - ive tried several browsers and another computer - no luck
Any website that has that melody logo on the tab on it seems to have this issue

Fascinating article... there's so much evidence that the film was completed in 1987 with the original ending. I wonder why the director is so belligerent? I understand that the loss of young Heather was painful, but that doesn't explain the denials and contradictions. A very curious situation.

He said he thought it was with StudioCanal/Lionsgate. I don't think it is though since a search I did on the StudioCanal site brought up absolutely nothing.

It's one of my all-time favourite horrors and I'd love to see it receive the collector's edition treatment on Blu-ray. If that's stupid, so be it.

I'd love a completely uncut version of the film, too, but what with Wes having passed, I figure that's extremely unlikely.

I would be very surprised if they ever got the rights to the entire series. If any of it.

ARNOLD would be awesome!! Love that shower scene. Classic!

That's terrible news if it's true. It will probably never see the light of day then.
