Cmac,

I know this is for "Scream" Factory, but I figure you can answer questions about Shout Factory releases.

A few month ago a Jackie Chan double feature was announced for Police Story/The Protector which is due on the January 15th. Amazon is now listing a double feature as Police Story/Police Story II due on April 15th. So... What's the deal here?

You surely mean "Crime Story / The Protector" right?

Doh! Never mind, I guess I need more sleep... See what happens when titles don't vary enough. So this is even better news...

Now if Criterion could just get back the rights to Supercop, and release a quality Blu-ray, unlike the Miramax/Echo Bridge mess.

More Chan is always good yes

But FYI, the version of Supercop that was released in this triple feature contains the OAR US cut. That's an improvement over the previous standalone release... Criterion would be better of course, but still, at this price, I find it ok.

Not from Scream themselves, other than a $70 bundle of Halloween II and II, Terror Train and The Funhouse last month. The Corman titles have been as low as $14.99 on Amazon. Your best bet price-wise to this point is to pre-order from Amazon - they're typically $19.99 or $18.99, plus Gold Box if you can get it.

For May, I'm predicting an Evictors/Town that Dreaded Sundown double-feature CE, a non-CE release of The Incredible Melting Man, and a DVD-only triple-feature of X-Ray/Schizoid/The Godsend.

Me too, but I have a hunch that will be the case. I hope to be proved wrong though. I do think those three will be a triple-feature, regardless of format.

How come some of their releases are BD+DVD, and others are just BD only? Would be good if they could keep them all BD+DVD to be consistent.

and if they are DVD releases it will be because the transfers arent HD material...but DVDs via Blu Ray players do make a good upconvert..
I hope Melting Man is in May also...I like the idea of the triple feature too

I'm going to go my schedule which has been right for the last 3 guesses.

May will hold Evictors/Town that Dreaded Sundown double-feature as predicted above, and The Burning CE

I'm fairly certain the 3 will be separate, as they are seperate on the schedule I found, and other things like Evictors/Town and the 2 Scanners are double features, but it don't know about blu ray or DVD.

I'm going to take a guess from the schedule I have, and say that Melting Man is in August with X Ray

When will SF start announcing new releases for 2013? I know it was talked about earlier in the thread, but I can't remember when/where.
Are they going to resume with Friday announcements, like in 2012?

I think there done announcing titles for the time being but that doesn't mean more titles aren't being added to the line up. Good things are coming...

any chance to see some quality versions of Universal titles?--

FIRE STARTER

SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW

GHOST STORY

and my biggest hope of all--

DRACULA (1979) with color corrections done without the pathetic tampering of all previous video releases??? apparently John Badham decided that he always wanted the film to have an old classic horror look so he muted the color almost completely with the prints used for home video...this would be a great opportunity to release the film as it was shown in the theaters again! Pretty please?

Supposedly they're working on getting some more Universal titles, but they haven't confirmed any new acquisitions.
