I bought Turistas on DVD last week for $2 brand new, but would still love to see this one make its way to blu-ray. Does anyone know who owns this these days? From digging around, it looks like it was with Fox Atomic, which was disbanded. Does it still lay in the hands of Fox somewhere? Does anyone get rights to Fox titles? or is it somewhere else?

http://www.filmaf.com is the link people always give as a place to check who has rights, according to their site the rights are with Fox and Fox cancelled an intended blu-ray of the film.

That's too bad it was cancelled. Thanks for that site though! Never seen that before. I like it.

On another note, bring on Cry Wolf already! Rights are with Universal and it would fit in just fine with the SF line.

The Vagrant had an 'extras in progress' message on its product page until today. I can only assume that their plans didn't come through, which is unfortunate. I at least expected an interview with Marshall Bell, given that they got a new one with him for Virus. Seems odd that they didn't try and kill two birds with one stone there.

Maybe the extras have been finished and are no longer in progress.

They're usually listed if that's the case.

In the past deepdiscount has been my go-to, however lately it seems they don't have the price drops they used to during the 15% off sales. The buy 2 get 1 free from Target this year was great catching up on some for under $14-15. I probably spent over $400 on scream titles during the sale catching up on titles I missed over the past year. Might sound like a lot of money to spend, but it really adds up when you go crazy during these sales. I can't afford full price $22-24 titles when 5-6 come out in a single month.

Scream factory is near the top of my favorite bluray companies. Lots of great movies and even the newer stuff and IFC/scream releases are entertaining. Overall good releases PQ/AQ/features wise, original arts, they do it all pretty solid.

I hope they start catching any of these errors and disc replacement problems in the future before releasing them for sale to the public. It would be nice to actually see some deals during these shout/scream sales, since they are selling direct to consumers. When they have almost 300 scream titles having 20-30 titles go on 'sale' with mediocre prices isn't really a sale to me.

I wish they would even re-release some titles like Body Bags with fixed audio and reversible art.
I used to try getting every release but about a year and a half ago when prices started going up and quality essentially stayed the same, I abandoned this quest.

I'm sure their sales have gone up based on the popular titles, but I've given them considerably less money recently.

Aren't some saved for a later date/time however so they can make announcements? I don't visit the Shout site enough to know about their update process but I know Shout likes to formally announce extras at specific points in time, so my thought was that perhaps the extras are no longer in production, but not yet officially ready to be unveiled.

I had myself a little Slumber Party Massacre Marathon tonight... screening all 3 films back to back to back. I've watched the original several times already but this was my first time watching Scream Factory's presentation on Blu Ray. I gotta say that this is/was a very attractive release. The picture quality was quite strong throughput both films, better than anticipated. It's a shame the elements didn't still exist for the full uncut versions but what Scream Factory has done in order to include them is very very commendable and still quite enjoyable. The shifts in PQ on part 3 are very noticeable, however that's largely due to how good the HD presentation is. The films themselves were both much better than I remembered as well. It had been a few years since my last viewing and I remember not liking part 2 much, however after this recent viewing I found it much more charming than I did the last go round.

This release really hit all the right notes for me. Attractive price, solid presentations, multiple cuts of each film, a great documentary in "Sleepless Nights" and overall just a really nice package. It's a shame that the films couldn't have all came at once in an Amityville style box set, but that small request aside both of these releases really do belong in every 80's/90's horror fans collections.

Because e-tailers and retailers are larger entities, and often actually lose money on small box items to get you to buy larger items. No company putting out the titles themselves want to lose money just to move more product, because they don't have to.

Well the big retailers are not losing money on these movies, I can guarantee you that. My brother works for Best Buy and picks up SF titles with his discount which is certain percentage above cost. The price he get's them at is usually cheaper than what Amazon sells them for. Obviously when Amazon has particular sales then they go below cost but that is usually to clear out excessive stock.

Thanks for the review. I have The Slumber Party Massacre on Blu-ray, but I need to get the II/III double-feature disc, since I like owning all things Roger Corman.

There's always options...
Have you checked if it's on Hulu? They offer a free trail.
Netflix? Also a free trial option.
You could probably find the trailer or certain scenes on Youtube.
Also...it is not hardly so obscure that a simple google search of 'dolls 1986 free streaming' wouldn't yield a working link to see if you like it.

My personal opinion is that it's quite good, especially as far as killer doll movies go. It has great stop motion animation for the time. If you like general Full Moon/puppet master stuff, the Child's Play movies, I'd be surprised if you didn't like it. Only reason I haven't gotten it on Blu is price.

Haven't checked Hulu but I can't believe I didn't try YouTube to see if its on there. I've tried both Netflix streaming and their dvd/bluray rental options and its not available for either. I also checked amazon instant video and no luck there. Im not going to do a blind buy from a trailer though.

Looks like I might have just found it on ffilms.org

I always see SF Blu's for cheaper on Amazon and ebay. And as far as the shipping comments, lots of sellers have free shipping, and Amazon does free shipping on orders over 35.
I'm waiting to see if ebay has another flash sale like at the end of March, it was $15 off 75+ and I got 5 blu's for $46 from a low price seller, you'd be lucky to get 2 titles from SF direct for that. Also someone posted Amazon did a SF sale last May so I am holding off on buying through ebay to see if they do that again.

Would you know by chance who has the rights to the 1982 film Vice Squad and which label would be most likely to give it a blu ray release?

Looks like Anchor Bay had it last in the US (2006). If they never lost the license that would mean it is now with Lionsgate I believe, but considering the last release was over a decade ago I have no idea who has it.

The film falls under the Embassy Pictures umbrella I believe of which many titles fall under the StudioCanal ownership however home media rights were split between MGM, and Fox in most cases with some individual films falling elsewhere. Some home video titles are also owned by Image, and Lionsgate (And at one time Anchor Bay though they are folded under Lionsgate now). I'd say that since Anchor Bay had the film last and the way the licensing appears to be structured, I would guess that the odds are good that it is with Lionsgate now, but that is pure speculation.

I'd like to know why Munchies still hasn't made it to Blu. It's a Corman movie and was released on DVD by New Concorde in 2004. Scream has released other Corman movies such as Death Race and Forbidden World on Blu, are they going to get around to Munchies maybe? I also was just reading in the Code Red thread Corman has been trying to sell his library, but some of these Scream releases are kind of recent.
