I'm seeing a lot of people here ordering Swamp Thing from the Scream Factory sale.

I envy all of you who are about to see this wonderful film for the first time. It's the 1980s in a nutshell, and it really captured my imagination when I was a kid. It's still awesome.

Everybody rates things differently. I'd give a 3/5 myself (maybe a 4/5 if I was feeling generous), which just means I liked it and found it to ultimately be an entertaining, fun time. Not spectacular by any means but far from being among the worst stuff I've seen. I never even saw it for the first time until just a few years ago but I'm sucker for any genre offering with Jamie Lee Curtis, plus in recent years I've been getting nostalgic for '90s horror and science fiction.

Cool. I'll probably give it a watch then. Yeah I'm a sucker for Jamie Lee Curtis as well

That's the one film from my order that wasn't a blind buy though it's been 17 or so years since I last watched it.

Thoughts on my order:

Everything is a blind buy and from comments in here I must say I am most excited for Swamp Thing and I, Madman.

Psycho 2 & 3 have me curious as well so I'll probably follow up with those two. I've heard some good things on Schizoid/X-Ray. The Town that Dreaded Sundown feels like the safest of the lot, just based on plot and somewhat elevated reputation in the genre. I've seen the "remake" and liked it.

I have the lowest expectations for Slumber Party 2 & 3.

It's arriving tomorrow so needless to say I am excited to marathon this weekend!

Of all the titles you've listed the only one I feel like you might be disappointed with is The Town that Dreaded Sundown. I found it a chore to sit through and just really really boring. Hopefully your experience is better than mine, but that's one film I would rate considerably lower than all the others based on pure entertainment value.

The original The Town That Dreaded Sundown wasn't quite the suspenseful horror movie I thought it would be when I finally saw it several years ago. There's a little too much cornball humor in it from one of the deputies and the downtime between kills is pretty sluggish. But I did like the documentary-esque feel, Ben Johnson was terrific and actual attack sequences have a creepy vibe to them. Especially the one involving the trombone! But I did think it was a lot better than the sequel/remake/quasi-whatever it was that came out a few years ago.

Yeah, it's with Warner Brothers, but that's only half the problem. Given the shitstorm Scream Factory got for releasing the Jeepers Creepers films, I can't imagine they'd have much interest in taking on a lesser known film by the same director, even if it were available to them.

Yeah, Barbeau's rack was amazing at that time. I wasn't alive in '82, but I can't imagine how exciting that scene would be to a teenage dude in the early 80s pre-internet.

My wallet isn't too happy, but I couldn't pass up the amazing sale from Scream Factory!

I actually had 19 items in my cart before editing it down and picking out my favs!
I've had my eyes on some of these titles for a super long time, but the prices on AmazonPrime here in Canada are in the $35-$40 price range! So even with the US to Canadian exchange, they're still cheaper to purchase with the SF sale! Plus, who can say no to free shipping?

1 [BD] Carrie [Collector's Edition] $17.47
1 [BD] Death Becomes Her [Collector's Edition] $17.47
1 [BD] Cellar Dweller / Catacombs [Double Feature] $12.49
1 [BD] Deadly Blessing [Collector's Edition] $11.49
1 [BD/DVD] Deadtime Stories $15.00
1 [BD] Halloween III: Season Of The Witch [Collector's Edition] $14.97
1 [BD/DVD] Halloween II [Collector's Edition] $14.97
1 [BD] Jeepers Creepers 2 (Collector's Edition) $17.47
1 [BD] Jeepers Creepers (Collector's Edition) $17.47
1 [BD] Serial Mom [Collector's Edition] $17.47
1 [BD] Vampire's Kiss / High Spirits [Double Feature] $12.49

I'm still considering picking up the other titles tomorrow before the end of the sale. Thank goodness for payday!

I agree. Psycho III is a favorite of mine. The cinematography is really really gorgeous and unique.

Terror Train has Jamie Lee Curtis and David Copperfield. Slasher on a train

Fender Bender was decent. It's about a guy who causes car accidents and stalks and kills the person afterwards.

I'd go with Terror Train I had to choose one.

Terror train was a film that took me a while to warm up to. It's generally an enjoyable experience but not something I would ever recommend unless someone is well versed in horror/slashers and is just looking for something a bit of the beaten path.

Fender Bender I've heard was a pretty decent effort by Scream Factory but not really anything amazing. I haven't seen it myself though.

Agreed. Psycho 3 is my favorite of the sequels. It has a very dark and creepy atmosphere. Anthony Perkins did an outstanding directing job.
