So, I was just thinking of an idea... I'm not sure if anyone ever suggested this specific title in the past but I think it would be flawless.

Why not do a 10 year anniversary release for the flawless Trick 'r Treat? This year marks it's 10 year anniversary of what would have been the original release date. Of course we all know it was pushed back, cause Warner is stupid as hell, and finally released on DVD/Blu in 2009. However, this year marks it's real 10 year anniversary. I'd love to see more features on a future release for this masterpiece of a film. I'd be so giddy if it happened, and I'd literally pay anything for it... also it'd be so cool to do a interview with the cast to see what they think of it's legacy. Like get Anna and crew back to see how they feel about it and their memories of filming. I'd literally die.

Is there like a site I can suggest this to them on besides Facebook?

So tired of these unnecessary special editions from Scream Factory. The Blu-ray market is not lacking another Blu-ray release of Trick 'r Treat, which is very appealing and affordable in its current edition.

As a big fan of the film, easily in my top 5 films of all time, I wouldn't mind seeing it with a bit more special features attached. Don't see what the big deal is, if you don't want it then you wouldn't have to buy it. Besides, I doubt it will ever happen so don't you worry.

Yeah we don't really need another blu ray for Trick r Treat as the current one is great. Audio could be a little better but Im happy with the current blu ray.

What we really need is the damn sequel already!

I must be the only one who wants more features lmao. I'm sure there's at least a few others that would want it though. Oh well.

Trick 'r Treat is with Warner Bros so there is a .00001% chance that such a release is even possible even if it were to be considered.

Yeah I know. IMO Dougherty has lost interest for some reason and has decided to do Godzilla instead Lol. Not really funny though. More frustrating actually. For me anyways.

Trust me, for somebody whose favorite month is October, Trick 'r Treat is near and dear to my heart. But Scream gains nothing by reissuing this, especially when the special features on the current disc are more than satisfactory (and as another poster said, the fact that it's with Warner makes it a moot point.)

What we should really be concerned about is Dougherty finally getting off his a$$ and directing the sequel that he announced was coming 4 years ago.

If Dougherty's intentions are still to explain a certain character's origins in the follow-up, then I'm glad that said sequel development is dead in the water.

On the current sale...

This was a pretty good sale to wipe out most of my longstanding Scream Factory Wish List items at Amazon.

The Thing
Blacula / Scream Blacula Scream
The Burning
Dreamscape
The Howling
Ghost Story
The Town That Dreaded Sundown [with The Evictors on DVD]
Tales From The Crypt / Vault Of Horror
Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf
Saturn 3
All Night Horror Marathon [4-Film Feature]
All Night Horror Marathon, Vol. 2 [4-Film Feature]

Scream Factory (free shipping, no taxes) : $151.85
Amazon (free shipping, taxes) : $186.32

That's about three times what I would normally spend on any media order, but considering that they were all items from my Wish List, and that the difference in savings was probably not going to be much better anytime in the foreseeable future, I bit.

So, I have the following blind buys in my cart (that I'd like to whittle down) and would like some recommendations of what to get and what to stay away from. Any advice welcome:

Bad Moon
Beyond The Gates
Cellar Dweller/Catacombs
Destroyer/Edge of Sanity
The Editor
Jacks Back
Lady In White
Monkey Shines
Nightmares
The Outing/The Godsend
Q: The Winged Serpent
Scanners 2/Scanners 3
Tales From The Crypt/Vault of Horror
Witchboard

Thanks in advance.
I'd definitely hop on board with everyone who has recommended Monkey Shines and Witchboard already. Witchboard has been a favorite of mine for a long time and was super stoked when Scream picked it up. And I had never seen Monkey Shines before Scream released it, but was fairly pleasantly surprised when I watched it.

It's a great little film, and the effort that went into the restoration, which most believed was an impossible task, is admirable.

Here's my review from the dedicated thread...

This Scream Factory Blu-ray release of Andrew Davis's 1983 film, The Final Terror, is one of the most impressive examples of how a studio can figuratively salvage a rusty clunker vehicle from a forgotten garage and restore it with a solid paint job and a new transmission. As the disclaimer that opens the movie states, this Blu-ray transfer was assembled from six different reels that were made available by film collectors after the original print and negatives were lost. Considering the film's history, the end result is quite spectacular. When I sat down to watch The Final Terror last night, I noticed some occasional softness, especially during a kill scene that opens the film, a few minor color fluctuations, and some occasional frame damage, but the rough-around-the-edges filmic look of this movie shines through, and none of the shortcomings hampered my enjoyment. The audio quality matches the video quality step for step, in terms of being a flawed restoration that nonetheless rises above expectations.

In terms of movie content, I had a blast watching The Final Terror, and I recommend it as a good little movie when one is in a specific frame of mind to watch some late-night cinema that satisfies in the same way that a greasy burger from the local fast food joint hits the spot. The Final Terror was reportedly filmed in 1981 and shelved for a couple of years until it was released to capitalize on the popularity of Daryl Hannah, Rachel Ward, Adrian Zmed, Mark Metcalf, and other actors, but those new to the film may nonetheless be scratching their heads as to how such a talented cast was assembled for this scrappy endeavor. The plot, which concerns a group of raggedy park service interns who end up fighting for their lives after they venture out into the Redwood forest of California for some trail work, initially seems to serve up some familiar slasher movie conventions, namely beautiful women with low standards in guys, an isolated locale, and foreboding music. I believe that The Final Terror, however, is best enjoyed when one approaches it as a tense wilderness survival movie instead of expecting a viscerally gory slasher flick with a high body count. This movie will never be confused with Citizen Kane or Gone with the Wind, but it does have a few endearing tricks up its sleeve by way of some rather remarkable camerawork that was accomplished before the days of Steadicam, and some splendidly beautiful wilderness shots that do an admirable job of setting up the location as a character all its own.

As always, Scream Factory adds some enjoyable supplementary features to the equation. Post-production supervisor Allan Holzman and composer Susan Justin deliver the most insightful interview footage, but I also got a kick out of watching the interviews with actors Adrian Zmed and Lewis Smith. Lewis Smith will be instantly recognizable to fans of another backwoods thriller, Southern Comfort, because of his role as "Stuckey." The commentary track with director/cinematographer Andrew Davis is spotty, but it does give one a chance to watch the movie again to enjoy the eye candy of lovely actresses and beautiful wilderness scenery.

I give this Scream Factory Blu-ray of The Final Terror three and half stars across the board, in terms of movie content, video quality, audio quality, and extras. It's not a masterpiece, but I, for one, am glad that this forgotten flick was rescued from the lost-and-found pile and given a new clean-up job.
I had this in my cart, but I took it off because some reviews have said that its pretty standard stuff and its usually cheap on Amazon. I'll pick it up at some point. Perhaps in July or August.

It was a blind buy for me when it was released, and I was nicely surprised when I finally got around to watching it. As you said, rough around the edges, but I definitely commend the effort Scream put into getting this film out there.

Nice haul, mine came in a giant box today too. Also missing a few titles as well as a smaller 2nd order I made recently. Two poster folded up were for Firestarter and Poltergeist 3.

The Final Terror

Slumber Party Massacre II / III
Terrorvison / The Video Dead
X-Ray / Schizoid

for $60 and something cents. I've only seen Final Terror and the Slumber Party Massacre sequels and the other five films are blind buys!

I wonder if Scream/Shout will release Matinee? I doubt that Arrow has the US rights for it as they would have released it the same time as the UK release.
