I'm still waiting for several backordered titles as well, so it looks like there's a bunch of us in that boat. I'm not worried yet as I seem to recall many of the discs I ordered said they would be available July 7th, so I expect them to ship next week.

Six of my remaining eight back orders arrived yesterday, after shipping on the 28th. I'm only missing Saturn 3 and the Editor from a second order I placed five days later during the sale.
So even though Screams customer service department's closed for a few days, I wouldn't sweat it too much. This was a fantastic sale. I've already watched Food of the Gods (loved it), Cherry Falls (underrated slasher), Ghost Town (horrible villain, cool setting, strange), Nomads (interesting mood, but never really comes together), and I've got Empire of the Ants lined up next. So, some hits and some misses so far, but it's nice when a sale encourages me to blind buy more films. Oftentimes, in the horror genre, blind buys end up being some of my favorites. |

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as many of you. Ordered 5 from the anniversary sale, got 3 so far but still waiting on 2 double features (Blacula/Scream, Blacula, Scream and Slumber Party Massacre II/III). No email regarding shipment yet and they haven't charged my CC yet either so I'm guessing later this week after the holiday is when I should start looking out for it too.

I just finished watching my Scream Factory Blu-ray of Dead Ringers.
![]() Jeremy Irons, in the greatest performance of his career, plays dual roles as Beverly and Elliot Mantle, identical twins whose lifelong fascination with the female reproductive system has led to their successful careers as gynecologists. The Mantle twins share an apartment, they share a clinical practice, they share patients, and they even share women. Elliot, the more outgoing of the two, breaks the ice with women and commences the relationships before passing them on to the more reserved Beverly, since the women are always unable to tell the twins apart. This already icky premise goes into overdrive when the Mantle twins encounter Claire, an emotionally fractured actress played by Geneviève Bujold (Coma, Tightrope). After sleeping with Claire, Elliot dismisses her, but Beverly relates to her fragility and falls in love with her, all the while delving into the world of drugs as he signs prescriptions for her. This rift between the twin brothers gradually spirals into a maelstrom of jealousy, sexual politics, drug addiction, career ruin, and paranoia. At the time of this movie's production, director David Cronenberg was already the master of "body horror", having filmed classics like Shivers, Rabid, The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, and The Fly. Dead Ringers tones down the ghastly visceral aspects of Cronenberg's earlier works, but the emotional deformities of the characters fills the void with amazing results, and this film is quite painful to watch as such. Innovative motion control techniques were used to depict Jeremy Irons playing the Mantle twins in such a way that the twins appear onscreen together in a convincing way. I was quite disturbed when I first saw Dead Ringers during the late 1980s, when I was in high school, partly because of the body horror aspects of the story and partly because certain story elements opened up a new world to my naive small town self. For instance, if I remember correctly, this was the first time that I had ever seen a bondage sex scene in a film. Today's viewing was my second time seeing the film, and, although almost 30 years have gone by and I'm quite jaded, I was still not quite ready for the unique horrors of the story. I do think that it's a remarkable and brilliant movie, though. Upon researching the film now, I am surprised to find that it is loosely inspired by the true story of twin brothers and renowned gynecologists, Stewart and Cyril Marcus, who were found dead in their apartment in 1975, amid debris and trash, after suffering from barbiturate withdrawal. I chose to watch Dead Ringers in its 1.78:1 aspect ratio on Disc 1 of this Scream Factory Blu-ray, and I am now listening to the commentary tracks. The transfer is not demo material, but I found it to be a nonetheless rewarding presentation that suits the film's drab, but oddly beautiful approach. I own the corrected Blu-ray of this title, but, since I use a sound bar while watching my movies in my living room, any audio issues would not be readily apparent to me in the first place.
