They keep putting a temporary hold on funds for my order that still hasn't shipped. At one point, there were three holds at once, each for $88.

Nice prices, but I'm never buying direct from Scream again.

do you know the Blind Dead movies? same director, so if Spanish horror is your thing i'd say it's a no brainer.

I personally don't mind delays with backorders as I usually expect it, but this would not be okay with me. That's kind of nuts.

I just finished watching my Scream Factory Blu-ray of The Dark Half.

The Dark Half is still one of my favorite Stephen King books. I remember buying it and reading it on the day that it showed up in bookstores in 1989, and thinking that it was King's most effective horror novel since IT. This 1993 film adaptation, directed by the late great George A. Romero, does not quite have the relentless punch of the source novel, but it's still a cracking good movie and one of the better movies based on a King story.

Timothy Hutton (Taps, The Falcon and the Snowman) stars as Thad Beaumont, a prestigious, but under-recognized fiction writer who has thrived under the radar by writing violent action novels under the pseudonym, George Stark. After he goes public by revealing his pseudonym and "buries" George Stark for a celebrity photo opportunity, Beaumont's life is turned upside down when a series of brutal murders occur and fingerprints link the murders to him. It turns out that George Stark, also played by Hutton, has somehow come to life and is leaving a trail of corpses on his way to Beaumont and his family.

George Stark is my kind of guy, and I love how he utters macabre one-liners as he kills each person. I also love the fact that Julie Harris, who starred in The Haunting (1960), has a supporting role. Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead) has a good turn as the lawman on the trail of George Stark. Most importantly, though, I enjoy seeing the always awesome Royal Dano (The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Trouble with Harry, Johnny Guitar, Man of the West, Messiah of Evil, The Right Stuff) in his final film role.

The Dark Half could have been a good 15-20 minutes shorter, but it still has a great flow, and Romero's mastery with visceral horror is at its gruesome best. The final sequence, with the sparrows, is still so much fun.

It's a shame that, in Stephen King's literature, Thad Beaumont's life took such a turn for the worst, as evidenced in the subsequent books, Needful Things and Bag of Bones. He was a likable character in this story, and he deserved better, dark side notwithstanding.

This Scream Factory Blu-ray sports a beautiful transfer of this film, and it's a fine example of what this label has to offer at its finest. The commentary track with George A. Romero is a joy, as is the interview footage in the new "making of" documentary.

Well done, Scream Factory!

If today were July 8th and I was complaining you'd have a legitimate point but since today is the 17th and multiple people have already received many of the exact titles I'm waiting on it's starting to get just a bit tiresome waiting for any kind of correspondence from them. Hell even a "we're working on your order, sorry for the delay" e-mail would go a long way as it would alleviate the worry that my order was somehow lost. On top of that, I paid by paypal meaning I paid for these items in June where as plenty of other folks are still waiting to be charged.

I'm not worried or really all that annoyed just yet, but it's not unreasonable to expect timely delivery on an order when as of right now the earliest it can arrive to my home is 2 weeks after the promised replenishment date. This isn't Bill from Code Red or Don May Jr over at Synapse packaging these and sending them out. Shout Factory is a well established brand with a team of folks working behind the scenes and so it's unusual for them to be so quiet in regards to so many orders and for things to take as long as they have to ship, let alone arrive. Heck folks are reporting that their steelbooks are just starting to show up as well without any notice, and that's unlike Shout Factory. The problems regarding the shipping of orders could still be an ongoing issue if the silence is to be believed.
My comment wasn't directed at you, more at the person saying they will not buy from their sale due to all of those problems. You obviously spent money with them and are entitled to updates, even if they are not being sent out in a timely manner. This was their first sale like this and with it comes growing pains, unfortunately you seem to be on the short end of that. I hope they do this annually and with that they will get better at it.

As for the person with three holds on their account for $88, that's crazy. How did you pay credit card? debit? or paypal? I didn't think they were capable of doing that stuff to paypal, maybe that would be a good solution in the future to prevent that from happening again.

Saw Windows, The Evictors, Trespass, The Lonely Lady, etc. all at Meijer for sale last week. I was stunned (and very pleased). I actually like buying movies in person and these are nice prices to boot!
I've got to thank you for pointing this out! I never think to check stores like Meijer or Wal-mart for blu-rays, but I was really surprised with their selection. I ended up grabbing both Windows and The Evictors. I also saw that they had The Angry Red Planet, The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake and Island of Terror.

Hopefully they will continue to carry titles like these because I always prefer to buy my blu-rays in person.

If you pay by Paypal, the money goes through immediately, there are no holds, but that makes waiting 7-8 weeks a lot more annoying.

They hit my CC with 20 temp charges for $20 each once (it was literally every hour) because of a system glitch, I went nuts on them

If Scream Factory releases does more SteelBooks my vote would be for these 3 next:

*Halloween 2
*Halloween 3
*Terror Train

The slash, most likely, has nothing to do with SF. It probably happened at Scanavo's boxing warehouse. This is a widespread problem with steelbooks all over the world.
About the only thing SF could be negligent of is not spotting the slash prior to shipping it, but every retailer on the planet does this.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think the assumption is more MGM titles. Misery, Killer Klowns, etc. Hoping for Hell Night confirmation and a release date. I think the best possible surprise is if they announced a deal with another studio.

For me, a Child's Play 2/3 CE would be ideal but I don't see it happening.
