Cliff,

Would you have any interest in doing a release of Escape From New York? I know it's been done on BD, but it was pretty barebones. Thanks!

I would kill for a really good edition of this. If they could get all the extras from the MGM SE DVD plus some new ones, it would be amazing.

My thoughts exactly! I don't know if the picture quality could get much better than that of the US release currently available, but the SE DVD extras, including the opening sequence would be great.
Also, a minor request, but if a reversible sleeve(much like Halloween II) with new artwork and the original theatrical poster, would be very neat!
I realize it's a longshot, at best, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Although I'm don't know if I'm ready to have my world crushed if the answer is NO.

Well, the answer is probably no presently, but if enough people are interested they might pursue it.

Well, just looking at the US version, it's in almost 1600 collections. Not too shabby for a barebones release from '81.
Obviously not every one of those members would doubledip, but I would think at least half would. Then there would be all the fans from other countries that would import. A safe estimate would be around 2-3k, just using blu-ray.com as an example. So, slightly double that, and say 5000 units? Is that a worthwhile number? Or am I way off base here?

Default Prom night 2 / motel hell

Does anyone think Shout might be into releasing MGM's "Prom Night II"?
It is a hilarious sequel, and it has a large fan base.

"Motel Hell" is another MGM title that seems suited with Scream Factory.

Gotta say that is so sad! Its such a cheesy/fun flick!

But I understand that we should be thankful that we have gotten what we've received so far.

I've been begging for these two, I love these two.

"Hello Mary-Lou: Prom Night II" is a great movie, and usually sequels aren't as good as the original. The 1st is a classic, but this one is a cult classic.

"Motel Hell" is funny too. Remember... "It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters!"...
Its one of the CLASSIC well-known 80's slashers. Its been on MGM-HD and was featured in "Going to Pieces: the rise and fall of the slasher film".

I would buy these two DAY ONE!!

They both are great, and with mgm, so its completely possible that they might be coming from Shout eventually, I guess.

Judging from the no votes for Dracula, Firestarter Ghost Story, etc., and the lack of Universal titles on the upcoming slate, does this mean the Universal "connection" dead for now? Too costly, etc.?

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK would be total awesomeness. Especially since the current releases leave much to be desired for

Such a terrible film it's a good thing you're not wasting time on that one when there are much better horror films out there.

Here's my question, will The Vampire Lovers get a combo pack or at least a DVD release as well?

Just that every source I've been reading just says Blu-Ray.

Personally, I would rather have titles that haven't been released on Blu instead of double dips.

Understood, but when you're talking about the complete package:
PQ/AQ/Extras/Classic artwork-packaging...

I think this title warrants, at the very minimum, some considration.
After all, Halloween II already had a BD release!

I don't blame you, that movie was terrible. A waste of Christopher Lee.

Oh, fine--I have to put up with my barebones DVD, because the Commissar didn't personally want to do it.

C'mon, what could be so painful? It's not like we're asking SF to do the entire celluloid-melting III-VII, most of those have already been taken by the bottom-tier companies anyway. After listening to Philippe Mora's commentary on the Elite H3 DVD, even he doesn't know where his head was back then when he'd made the loopy-@$$ 2 & 3, and he has no problem talking about it from a fresh distant viewpoint. That alone is worth a featurette at least.
Sybil Danning's had much worse, and I'm sure she's not closemouthed on the subject; Christopher Lee's often openly joked about it, although he confesses he did it as a favor to Mora after good experiences working with him on a previous film.

(And the reason I mention this is....notice how, when we mention a Scream title, the FIRST thing we think of is extras, along with the picture quality? That's a good reputation to have, and better to keep up.
I've got my own it-is-what-it-is reasons for liking it, and like I said, wouldn't look too bad to borrow Disney's idea and tack it on as a double feature when double-dip time rolls around for Howling 1. Wouldn't get that recommendation from Facebook.)
