I more or less agree with this. Drag me to Hell has a pretty solid Blu Ray on the Market right now that can be picked up brand new for $4.95 from Dollar General. I'd like to know what exactly Scream Factory could offer that will make their product worth an extra $20 to some people. New Art work and a Slip cover... I'd wager for most folks that add's around $5 in value. If you're a completionist that already has everything else Scream Factory has put out... well then I can understand why you would pay for it. But for everyone else, is a new interview or two really going to be worth all the added cost? The movie already looks great, so whatever new scan they do is unlikely to make any sort of substantial difference unless the mess with the color. This isn't a People Under the Stairs/Firestarter/Darkman situation where the Universal releases are bare bones and/or with flaws in the prints.

-Land of the Dead
-Dawn of the Dead '04
-Drag me To Hell

...can all be had combined together right now in very attractive editions that rival what Scream Factory will put out for the cost of less than one of Scream Factories collectors editions.

-Darkman II/III
-Attack of the Puppet People
-Eye of the Cat

Don't really wow me much, but I am happy to see new additions to the line that haven't seen domestic releases before. Maybe one day I'll snag Darkman II/III, but who knows when that will be since I still haven't gotten around to grabbing the original film.

Misery
Silent Night Deadly Night

These at least appear to be deserving of a new label release. Misery maybe not as much, but Silent Night Deadly Night will be a revolutionary upgrade I'm sure and likely will end up being the best selling title of all of these announcements and the one I will for sure be grabbing because it will actually be a true upgrade over what is already on the market.

Exactly. The fact that these pointless Re-releases will be 24.99 or more when the same version can be found for $5 is just insane. They're not even trying anymore and just said, **** it. Which, after seeing the FB comments and some of the idiots who follow SF religiously no matter how much garbage they've become it makes sense. Because people like them will continue to buy this trash. But for how much longer will that happen? I suspect their sales won't be so hot in a year or two if this is all they're going to do.

I just can't see what they could do for a Misery collector's edition that would be that worthwhile. Maybe Rob Reiner will do an interview, but I don't see Kathy Bates, James Caan or Stephen King doing an interview for the release and Lauren Bacall and Richard Farnsworth are both deceased, there's not a big cast in this one.

What are people hoping for other than a new scan of the film?

And The Strangers and Drag Me to Hell are both fairly recent films with cheap Blu-rays available I'd rather upgrade Drag Me to Hell for $5 than $20 and I already had Strangers on Blu-ray.

I'm more excited for American Gothic, Attack of the Puppet People and Eye of the Cat than the collector's editions they announced. And of course Matinee from Shout Select.

***MORE TITLES HEADING YOUR WAY!!!***

Here’s the list of upcoming films we literally just announced at Comic-Con tonight:

JOHN CARPENTER’S ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (Collector’s Edition) – The original classic siege thriller is intensified f...urther with all-new ‘Scream’-produced extras. (Nov 2012)

EVE OF DESTRUCTION – The 1991 Gregory Hines android-gone-amok sci-fi thriller hits Blu and anamorphic widescreen for the first time.

SATURN 3 – This post-Alien 1980 Kirk Douglas and Farrah Fawcett vs. Evil Robot flick gets a considerable upgrade to Blu-ray for the first time. New extras planned. (Dec 2012)

DARKMAN (Collector’s Edition) – The 1990 Sam Raimi cult classic gets the full on ‘Scream’ treatment with all new extras. (Dec 2012)

SCREAM FACTORY “TV TERRORS” –Two made-for-TV movies - 1978’s THE INITIATION OF SARAH and ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE? – will be packaged together on DVD for the first time at a good price. Fans have been asking us if we could exploit more of this made-for TV content so consider this an “experiment”. If this sells well, we would love to look into bringing you a “Volume 2”. (Dec 2012)

CAT PEOPLE (Collector’s Edition) – The 1982 feline flick (with Nastassja Kinski, sex, violence and a great David Bowie single) arrives on Blu for the first time with all-new extras (2014.)

We still have more tricks up our sleeves for 2014 and we are working feverishly on trying to close deals so that we can announce more favorites soon!

Can we discount the possibility that Scream licenced Silent Night Deadly Night from Anchor Bay? Only it looks like the Anchor Bay release is still in-print. And the two companies collaborated in the past on the Halloween release.

I ask as a small deal with Anchor Bay could present some interesting possibilities (like that rumoured anniversary release of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon).

Unlikely since Anchor Bay is a subsidiary of Lionsgate. Lionsgate is not known to license out their titles.

Ah well. Hardly that big a deal since they don't have a great deal anyway. I guess if AB are indeed releasing a new version of Leslie Vernon for October we'd hear about it very soon.

What titles were available for them to license that they didn't, for those upset with the lineup?

Anything is available if you're willing to cough up the dough. But they've made their point that they don't care about releasing the obscure stuff that everyone wants or just plain titles that people have been asking for that haven't been released before. At least we still have Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome, Code Red, Scorpion, Synapse...etc to rely on. SF is dead.

I'd rather they released 1 or 2 solid releases than 10 or so pointless titles.

They've said before that their obscure stuff doesent sell as well for them so they don't release those type of titles anymore. That's why we're getting stuff like Drag me to Hell and The Strangers.

And like I said it's not about what's available to them. If they're willing to cough up the dough, they could release some great stuff. They're just not willing to. But why would they when the idiotic fanboys get excited for stuff like Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf 2.

Like I said, I'd much rather Scream Factory Go the route of Vestron and release 1 or two titles a month and have them be awesome titles than a bunch of this crap we're getting.

I'm sure if they really wanted to they could find a way to get these:

April Fools Day
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Dead Alive
And much more.

I think a lot of us were hoping that Scream/Shout had made a new deal with somebody, because they really are scraping the bottom of the barrel over at MGM, I'm sure Universal has some good stuff, but they only do a deal with them every 5-6 months it seems.

Paramount would have given Scream at least a couple years worth of big Collector's Edition level films, many of which haven't gotten Blu-ray releases yet (Silver Bullet, Graveyard Shift, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, April Fool's Day, etc.)

Only SF is holding themselves back from reaching a deal. It always comes down to money and I'm sure SF didn't want to pay for what Paramount is asking for. Instead they'd rather release Drag me to Hell.

So in your guys opinions, after the news of Scream Factory looking potentially into going 4K UHD, what previously released titles would you like to see on the format?

Scream/Shout probably doesn't have a license with Dimension, but I would love to see:
