Idk target age of Comic Con, but it could explain newer releases to draw in a younger crowd as well. I mean Garbage Pail Kids last year is kinda pop culture and then there's the Shout announcements with Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks as well as Pee Wee. Their announcements year round seem to draw fans to this thread at least looking for close to one or more releases each month. Plus 4k is latest thing especially since game systems are adopting it. Steelbooks had been an ongoing trend that people were clamoring for as well. To summarize, different audience maybe?
That's as good of an argument as any I suppose. If this is their mindset though I'd like to see them fully embrace it and go 100% for that market. Make all the announcements re-releases of big name films and make things nice and clear that their goal is to attract new buyers and that this "event" isn't for the core fanbase that has supported them since the beginning.

This makes a LOT of sense and now I'm suddenly feeling a weird feeling of relief

Agreed I hadn't seen the film in such a long time that I kind of had forgotten about how much I wanted her to win. When you start the film off with what essentially amounts to trying to kill a scared child, you don't set the "good guys" up for too many victory laps in the eyes of the audience lol

I had me a Species marathon when I received the first in the franchise. I owned the other releases because I had already seen the first one (but so long ago) that I figured buying the sequels was fine. Thankfully Scream released this one and I was able to do all four basically back to back! The second one is a decent continuation I thought. The best of the cast from the original is back, which is nice. The third one hurts my brain to think about... how the second one and the third one are 0.1 away from each other in ratings on IMDB is absolutely beyond me lol. It's still nice to have for the whole series though. The 4th one I still haven't really made any decisions about. It's not as good as the first two, it's better than the straight to video cheap Canadian low budget television looking third one... but it's kind of an entirely different film all to it's own really. I can't quite figure out how much I like it... or don't like it. (The third one also has the least impressive transfer... there's quite a bit of blur and drag I found, which makes some of the darker scenes annoying to sit through, which could also be why the production felt so cheap... I mean... other than it was cheap obviously ).

Agreed! I said earlier in this thread somewhere that I was worried after seeing screen caps... that it appeared like a blue or teal tint had been applied or something, that maybe the transfer had been mishandled somewhere along the way... and then after watching it I realized for the hundredth time, and always seem to forget, that screen caps somewhere on the internet just really don't give the full picture... The transfer looks fantastic in my opinion, I was really impressed with it, very natural looking when it calls for it, the (somewhat dated) special effects come through nicely, great clarity, great depth... a really impressive effort.

Great review!

I can't wait to revisit Species. Part 2 is my favorite but one is pretty damn good as well.

Bottom line... A SNDN CE was announced.

Therefore Scream Factory's SDCC was a success.

There's also a matter of timing. SDCC, seemingly, comes too late in the year for Scream Factory to make their big title announcements for September and October, probably the biggest two month period of the release calendar for a horror-centric label. Instead, those announcements are made in the weeks leading up to SDCC and the convention gets a bunch of intermittent titles that will be released after the Halloween season, but well before the following Halloween season.

The SNDN series had so much potential with a killer Santa joining iconic horror villains like Leprechaun, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, etc but they drove the series into the ground starting with SNDN 2. Why didn't they make a real sequel instead a halfquel with half the movie being flashbacks to the original.

Over the moon with the SNDN announcement! One of my favorite films of all time.

I'm cautiously optimistic they are able to locate and scan the full uncut version to HD. Also, considering the film's rich controversial history, it should easily justify a 2 disc feature packed edition.

'You see Santa Clause tonight, you better run boy! You better run, for your life!'

Did everyone receive the duplicates email, even if you yourself didn't receive duplicate shipments?

I actually like part 2 alot. A cheese classic.

3-5 suck, 3 being the worst. An absolute snoozefest...

Yeah, the Monte Hellman helmed entry is reeeeaaaaaally bad. Which really sucks since it not only has Ben Horne, but also the lead chick who's not Naomi Watts in "Mulholland Drive". It also commits the biggest sin of not having ‎Bill Moseley go all out as Ricky after filling in the legendary Eric Freeman's shoes. Should've been the best recast in slasher film history, but Hellman screwed the pooch with that one.

The one Brian Yuzna directed was alright and so was the one with the killer robotic toys, though.

The annoying thing is that there's still a ton of Cannon horror that hasn't been released yet that should be controlled by MGM. Why not hit something like Alien from LA or America 3000?

Mind you, they did just announce a better edition of Cyborg, so that's a plus in my book at least.

I agree.

Mant as a featurette is on the old Laserdisc and I hope it will be on the Blu-ray.

Me too.

Maybe with a re-release of the 2012 pseudo remake (featuring Malcolm McDowell, Knives Chou and Harvey Bullock) re-encoded on a BD-50 too.
