I just finished watching Vengeance of the Zombies from the Scream Factory Blu-ray set, The Paul Naschy Collection.

Spanish horror icon Paul Naschy plays Krisna, an Indian practitioner of the mystical arts who lures wayward hipsters into his voodoo religion for peace and prosperity. His activities come under question, however, when strange murders of beautiful daughters of certain affluent households begin to unfold in the London area. These babes are being turned into zombies and are unleashed upon hapless victims by some strange force. The scenes where these zombabes are chasing their prey are unintentionally comical, and all of the violent moments are accompanied by 1970s porn music that completely kills any semblance of suspense, but everything still somehow comes together into an enjoyable movie, albeit one of the weirdest movies that I've seen in recent memory.

Romy (This is really the name of the actress.) plays a woman who is infatuated both with Krisna and with his way of life until she begins to experience horrific occurrences while staying at Krisna's household. Mirta Miller plays Krisna's gorgeous henchwoman. María Kosty, one of the most beautiful Spanish actresses whom I've ever seen, plays a maid who also happens to be the world's dumbest cyclist during one scene. Of course, Paul Naschy is excellent in three simultaneous roles, including that of Satan himself.

Vengeance of the Zombies is worth seeing just for the trippy music alone, and because of the way that it diffuses every horror scene. Instead of being afraid for the actors, I just wanted to turn the music way up and invite a bunch of women and lava lamps to my house. As far as low-budget Spanish horror goes, however, this film is highly entertaining.

This Scream Factory Blu-ray looks and sounds pretty great, and there is a natural filmic appearance to the whole affair. Alternate Spanish credits and alternated clothed scenes are also included on the disc.

I have to get this set asap, if I wait too long I'll have to get both sets at the same time and it'll cripple my blu ray funding

I bought Scream Factory's The Thing, Child's Play and Carrie, is there any reason I should keep the old releases? any missing extras, for example

I checked the old and new reviews, but I want to make sure that I didn't miss anything

They all have superior PQ and I believe they have more extras. I gave mine away to my sister.

Exactly the same with me. I signed up for Prime in 2010, and back then nearly ALL of my packages came UPS, with the occasional FedEx. Since about 2012 or so, nearly ALL my packages come USPS, and I get a UPS every once in a while. Usually if a package shipped later than it was supposed to or I choose the pay-One Day option, then it comes overnight UPS. But two day Prime is USPS pretty much all the time.

I believe it also depends on where you reside, geographically, from the closest distribution center. If you're close enough an Amazon courier will deliver the bulk of your orders. If not Amazon will farm it out.

Shoulda held off on The Thing a bit to see what Arrow has to offer. (Unless you're only region A).

Look Here

While the Blu Ray isn't a world of difference, it still is noticeably better than a DVD upscale.

Anybody know who owns the 1996 movie Pinocchio's Revenge? I know it was originally released by Trimark Pictures. Wouldn't mind seeing Scream release that. Despite the goofy title (a last-minute change against the director's wishes), it's actually a pretty decent little psychological thriller.

The source/print is far more important than the format when it comes to DVD/BD.

I just finished watching Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll from the Scream Factory Blu-ray set, The Paul Naschy Collection.

A drifter with a mysterious past takes a job as a caretaker at the French estate of three beautiful women, two of whom are disfigured due to an accident. His arrival brings about some jealousy among the women, and, soon after, a series of brutal murders of blonde women with blue eyes begin to occur around town.

Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll is the best Paul Naschy film that I've seen to date, and it is an impressive Spanish-language horror film that shares a lot of common ground with the Italian giallo films from the same era. The film is quite violent, even by today's standards, but it also has a beautifully stylish look throughout.

Paul Nashy delivers a great multilayered role as the drifter. The beautiful Diana Lorys (Bad Man's River) plays a nymphomaniac sister. Maria Perschy (General Hospital) stars as a wheelchair-bound, yet uncannily alluring, sister.

This film is a fun discovery that I'll be revisiting in the future just to analyze the twists now that I know what's coming.

This Scream Factory Blu-ray looks and sounds marvelous. The commentary track, from Rod Barnett and Troy Guinn, is informative and a lot of fun.

I bought it for $54 at a Scream Factory sale, but it went even lower than that on Amazon at one point.

I got it for $44 and change on release day at Amazon, but I pre-order most of the Scream stuff to ensure I get the cheapest price. Not sure how much it actually was on release day.

I'd say if you can get it under $50 it would be a good deal, less than $10 per movie.

Disappointed but never surprised when our pals at Scream use whatever elements are available when releasing a beloved and highly anticipated Blu Ray.

Yes, Scream Factorys latest slovenly effort is simply the equally junk German blu ray slapped on a disc along with Night of the Sorcerers with a new English friendly menu.

I bought the German blu ray when it came out like 3 or 4 years ago and was so disappointed in the washed out colors and blurry motion.

Looking at caps-a-holic the difference between the DVD and blu rays is so marginal, sure the blu is a tiny bit sharper and the colors a tiny bit bolder.

Back in 2008 though when Lorelei first bowed on DVD, it looked phenomenal for the time period, in this era, washed out, a hair better than a 2008 DVD isnt going to cut it ...PASS. Not that Scream will care losing some sales to die hard fans, they shoestring budgeted this with no respect at all.

It is a real shame this purely capitalist suit and tie outfit are the ones that got their hands on a few Ossorios and a ton of Paul Naschy's best work, what a missed opportunity...Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome, Code Red, Severin would have done a MILES better job than these bums.
