Money is tighter than usual for me right now as well, and I was holding onto my remaining disposable income for surprise Vinegar Syndrome/Code Red announcements and such.

Yesterday, however, I received a sizable escrow surplus check in the mail from my mortgage company. Half of that money is going toward emergency funds, and half is going to stuff like this.

I actually do the same thing pretty much with code red and vinegar syndrome, I have a separate "extra disposable money" savings account I use for any unexpected films from those companies that pop up. Then I just use my normal checking to buy pretty much every damn Kino that comes out because they seem to release everything from every genre that happens to be right up my alley, and I try to stay up to date with scream and arrow (which I've managed to do a pretty good job of).

I just blind bought The Burning. It's arriving tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to seeing it especially after all of the great things I've heard about it.

I blind bought it last year, it's a nice little slasher, it was filmed 15 minutes from where I live. Tom Savini passed on Friday The 13th 2 to do this film.

That's pretty cool. It's fun to find out when a movie was filmed near where you live. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was filmed around numerous areas in Phoenix where I live. I work right by the mall where the scenes at the mall were filmed.

Next month, all of us in our district work office will be attending a two-day training conference at a park campground area a couple of hours away. It's one of those "building trust, leadership, etc." sorts of things that our district likes to inflict on us from time to time.

I was initially irritated about this until I realized that our conference is going to take place at the campground cabins where Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was filmed.

If I recall, work also brought you to the filming locations of The Klansman, correct?

I live in LA so this subject is a little moot nowadays, but I grew up in Chicago and have relatives that live on the block that Home Alone was filmed.

Nope.

When I first graduated from college, however, I worked as a health inspector in Rabun County, Georgia, where Deliverance, Trapped, Blastfighter, and Grizzly were filmed.

I recognize and I frequented several specific locations from Deliverance, Grizzly, and Blastfighter. The locations in Trapped look darn familiar, but I'm not sure if I've ever actually been at those locations. I probably did drive by the fork in the road area that is shown early in the film, though.

It's really a beautiful county, and I'm pleased to report that, during my one-year stay there, I was never assaulted, raped, eaten by a grizzly, killed, or blown to pieces by a blastfighter shotgun. The closest that I ever came to those things was when one of the restaurant managers called me a bad name after I gave his restaurant a failing inspection score.

Blastfighter. That's the one I was thinking of. A much better film at that.

Well we can forget HELL NIGHT (for now anyway) I was at the DAYS OF THE DEAD Horror Convention yesterday in Kentucky and I asked Linda Blair about a possible Bluray release and she said Producer Bruce Cohn Curtis will NOT give up the rights to HELL NIGHT, he is planning a Remake or sequel (nothing official yet) and until one or the other happens he won't allow HELL NIGHT to be released on BLU. So there you have it, directly from someone who knows.

NO! I stupidly sold my DVD in anticipation of the Scream Factory release. I should have waited for the official announcement.

Does anyone have a clue if Best Buy will be carrying A Dark Song tomorrow? They've been pretty hit and miss with their IFC/Scream selection they're carrying in-stores lately.

Probably not, on their website it has an 8 digit sku, this generally means online only. 7 digit skus are carried in store (not all of them) but if it's 8 then it's never carried in store unless it's returned. At least that is my experience.

I'm really looking forward to the two new Scream Factory titles, The Survivalist and Killing Ground.

A local friend saw The Survivalist at an indie theater across town, and told me that it was an incredibly disturbing movie and that I will never be the same person again after I see it. I can't wait!

Granted, that's what everyone has known for some time. There's a good chance that Linda Blair isn't aware of any new proceedings. We know that Scream Factory is working on it and unless Curtis backed out of the deal (which we would never learn about anyway), then we can assume it's still coming at some point.

So let's all just keep our fingers crossed for now!

Yeah this guy dropped the ball by not asking her specifically about Scream Factory releasing it. She probably wasn't aware about it yet.

Every year, my wife and I enjoy an October full of horror films ranging from 30s B&W to modern thrillers, from high art to schlock, American and international. Each year, I curate a schedule with themes and such and this year, I am doing "In Memorathons" for George A. Romero and Tobe Hooper (which led to me buying the SCREAM Factory Collector's Editions of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and The Funhouse), and I also picked up the Collector's Edition of The Thing. These are my first forays into SCREAM Factory releases and these Collector's Editions really seem like great stacked editions. As a newcomer who loves most horror (particularly bona fide classics and the best camp cult classics), can you offer any specific must-buy recommendations of other SF Collector's Editions?

Too many to recommend but since you specifically said Romero and Hooper go ahead and grab the Scream Factory releases of The Dark Half, Monkey Shines, Day of the Dead and Lifeforce. Also the Arrow US release of Hooper's Eaten Alive is great. You can also find Salem's Lot at Wal-Mart or Best Buy
