The Survivalist would make a great double feature with It Comes at Night.

If, of course, you're in the mood for the most depressing night ever.

Fortunately, the King Crimson concert last night cheered me back up after watching The Survivalist, so I didn't have to mope for long.

It's a superbly engaging movie, though, and I'm proud to have it in my collection.

Can y'all please think about acquiring Howling 3 thru 6?
Also, there are four volumes of a comic book sequel to the original called The Howling: Revenge of the Werewolf Queen and it has gotten very good reviews. Maybe Shout! can get the rights and help produce a direct movie sequel to the original movie based on these comics?

Thanks!
Howlings III-VI have been on my list for a long time.

What's strange is that I think Shout! actually has the rights to parts 3, 5, and 6 because they released them full frame and SD via Timeless Media on a single Blu-ray disc.

Not sure who has the rights to Howling IV.

I like them all, and it would be nice to finally see 4-6 in HD.

Does Scream factory have a history of releasing titles in collections individually?

I'm interested in some of the Naschy titles, but far from all.

They have not released any films from their collections individually to my knowledge.

I'd say its unlikely that the Naschy films will see individual releases. They's have to sell far more than anyone would expect. That said, the Bruce Lee films got single releases.

i think the Bruce Lee ones were a special case, because that set was botched. the standalones had different transfers, didn't they?

It's an incredibly odd movie in my opinion. There are aspects of it that are great because of their weirdness, and then their are aspects that I just can't stand. I'm usually all about blind buys but this one is pretty questionable in my opinion. I feel like you will likely find something to enjoy in the film, but it's hard to say whether you would actually like the film or not. This is one such film that I feel like checking it out first might be in your best interest before purchasing it. If you can find it for $10 or less it's a reasonable blind buy.. anything more than that though and I would worry about buyers remorse without first having seen the film.

The standalones featured new 4K restorations. Bruce Lee also has far more mainstream appeal than Paul Naschy to warrant chasing the double dip.

As promised, I went through the special features on The Survivalist Blu-ray tonight.

For those of you who purchase this title, please be sure to watch the short films that are included as supplementary features, because they give additional perspectives on the bleak post-apocalyptic world from the feature film, and they provide a closer look at the circumstances which led to the gritty circumstances of the story.

As with the feature film, these are not the type of movies that you want to watch to cheer yourself up on a cloudy day, but they're quite accomplished and engaging.

I think Timeless Media Group released that abysmal Blu-ray before Shout! acquired TMG. I don't own that release but from all accounts it's a piece of sh!t quality wise. Even the cover art is ugly as f***.

Hopefully Scream Factory will release 3 thru 6.

THE HOWLING III: MARSUPIALS could definitely use a legit release with a new 2K transfer in the correct aspect ratio. It's one of the more interesting installments of the franchise and might even be my second favorite of the bunch (after the original of course).

Then give THE HOWLING 5 / 6 a double feature blu-ray. I don't even care if they did these barebones with just the trailers as extras. I just want to be able to own these movies and watch them in nice quality. That's damn near impossible with the current Timeless blu-ray.

I'm believe Shout! outright owns these three films, so that's awfully convenient.

Also, can they please release CANNIBAL GIRLS on blu-ray while they're at it? I never picked up the DVD out of hope for a blu-ray and there still isn't one. There is a Canadian release, but Scream Factory could easily blow that one out of the water.

Does Lionsgate have HOWLING IV?

I think it's time to revisit the Howling sequels and what better way to do that then through a nice comprehensive box set. Like many here, I hated these movies the first time I watched them. In my case, I rented the tapes as soon as they were released and got disappointed real fast. I think, in hindsight, I may enjoy them more now if there were decent presentations with plenty of extras and Shout having access to at least 3 of those sequels maybe they should release a set. I'd buy it without missing a beat.

I've always enjoyed the sequels (well, 2-6, that is).

The closest to bad in that lot is HOWLING IV, which redeems itself with some pretty wet, messy, and gruesome FX in the last 15-20 minutes (plus a great credits song by Moody Blues' Justin Hayward).

I've always felt HOWLING III is more clever and fun than it's given credit for.

HOWLING V plays out like a loose remake of THE BEAST MUST DIE, and it gets a lot of mileage out of its rich gothic setting (and a pretty fun cast of characters).

HOWLING VI plays out with the best of all those early 90s DTV horror sequels. The sideshow setting is unique, the creature make-up is fantastic and Bruce Payne is a great villain. Didn't love how the werewolf in this movie has more of a "Wolf Man" look, but that's carping. It's a good movie.

Seems unlikely. I believe the Canadian Blu-Ray was sourced from the same HD-master and features the same extras as Shout!'s DVD.
